Officer Can’t Stop Laughing During DUI Arrest

- On January 15, 2023, at approximately 0055 hours, Officer Nathan Smith with the Bentonville Police Department was traveling westbound on the 2200 block of SE Walton Boulevard in a marked patrol unit. From the report of Officer Smith:
I observed a black SUV traveling westbound in the inside lane ahead of me. I noticed the driver side tires cross the yellow line as the vehicle approached the intersection of SE Walton Blvd. and SE Medical Center Parkway. The vehicle continued westbound as it merged back into the inside lane. The vehicle’s driver side tires crossed the yellow line and drifted back into the inside lane again. The vehicle continued to drift toward the center turn lane with the driver side tires on top of the yellow line multiple times. As the vehicle negotiated Rainbow Curve, the driver side tires crossed the yellow line twice. I conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle by initiating my emergency lights. The vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of Credit Cars, located at 3302 S Walton Blvd.
I approached the driver side window and made contact with the driver, later identified as Brooke Teague by her Arkansas Driver’s License. While speaking with Brooke, I observed her eyes to be bloodshot and watery. I could smell the odor of intoxicants emitting from the vehicle and noticed her speech was slurred. Brooke stated she was on her way home from JJ’s Grill where she works. Brooke advised her shift ended at 2230 hours and that she only had one drink which she clarified was a Miller Lite. I asked Brooke if she would take the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which she agreed to.
Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus: The first test I explained was the HGN Test. I asked Brooke if she understood the test and she said she did. I noticed both left and right eyes had equal pupil size and no resting nystagmus. I also observed Brooke to have equal tracking in both left and right eyes. I observed lack of smooth pursuit, onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees, and distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation in both her right and left eye.
Walk and Turn: The second test I explained and demonstrated was the Walk and Turn Test using an imaginary line on a flat surface. I first placed Brooke standing in a heel to toe position and advised her not to start the test until she was told to do so. She could not maintain the heel to toe stance and lost balance during the instruction phase of the test. After completing the instructions, I asked her if she understood, and she stated she did. During the test I observed Brooke lose balance during the instruction phase, use her arms for balance, step off the line, take the wrong number of steps, conduct an improper turn, and miss heel to toe.
One Leg Stand: The third test I explained and demonstrated was the One Leg Stand. After the explanation and demonstration, I asked Brooke if she understood the test and she said she did. During the test, Brooke put her foot down, used her arms for balance, and swayed.
Brooke did not satisfactorily complete field sobriety testing. Brooke was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. She was handcuffed, searched, and placed in the rear of my patrol vehicle.
Corporal Quinton Reinhardt and I conducted an inventory of the vehicle which was later towed by Bentonville Towing. While inventorying the vehicle, suspected vomit was located in the two center cupholders. Brooke was transported to the Bentonville Police Department.
I read Brooke the Arkansas Statement of Rights form and she agreed to provide a breath sample. After a twenty-minute observation period, Brooke provided a breath sample of .14%.

For all those commenting on how pleasant this stop is maybe the cops are just happy to be dealing with someone who is not running, fighting, spitting, biting, swearing, etc
I'd wager most traffic stops are done quickly without incident. It's just the ones that get posted on UA-cam where the offender is acting obnoxious
Or.. pretty young women get treated differently in life, even by cops. One of the cops in the beginning uttered the words "poor girl", just in case you missed it. Just after he said she was swerving all over the place. So he suspected she was drunk, but said "poor girl" anyway while putting on his jacket. That doesn't happen with ugly women or men during DUI investigations. These cops were gitty with laughter too. They were smitten. Happens to the best of us - that's how life generally works most of the time.

She flirted with him to get a lighter slap on the wrist. And it worked. Her kid's car seat wasn't even buckled in. Watch when he asked her to move her hair.
@@slinkybomb7491correct she used her beauty to her benefit. It’s important though to note humans use their beauty, intelligence, physical attributes, status to get away with a variety of things (legal and illegal). It’s a human thing. The cop appeared to fall for this to an extent, but her beauty wasn’t the only reason…she was respectful and compliant… I saw another video with another beautiful woman being arrested and she was a harpee, yell, resisting, etc. The cops did not allow her to get away with her behavior. The cops should get additional training on dealing with situations like these too to reduce this kind of bias but I still think this is better than an all out brawl injuring all participants.

Yawn.
That's how low our expectations, and rightfully so, have become of the police. We want to give them praise for doing something good, like that's all they're supposed to do. It's so shocking to see a cop do something that doesn't involve hurting someone that we think we need to praise them for acting as a normal good person would.

My stomach dropped seeing how loose that carseat was. Hope she makes better choices for her baby in the future . Loved the cops going above and beyond all throughout this video - major respect!
The only thing I will say in defense of the car seat is that it is possible they have 2 vehicles ( her and the child’s father ) … I have had plenty of times where I will throw the car seat in my vehicle knowing eventually my kiddo will be in it but I don’t hook it up until the actual situation happens…just saying . That doesn’t mean she puts her kid in unsafe situations 24/7 . It could have been that kiddo got dropped off for the weekend , and she took the car seat back but didn’t hook it up properly yet. Agree both cops were great, and tightening the car seat was going the extra mile. No, they're not children trying to outdo each other to impress their schoolmates. Grow up
I was incredibly disappointed that they didn’t ask her about it.
No they were disappointed..
I've never seen someone so happy to be stopped and tested by cops in the middle of the night 😂
- authority kink. For just a moment, it was almost like having a father.
@@Babidi111 wtf , nahh you watch too much tik tok 💀

She tried to charm the officers to reduce her penalty and succeeded.
@@at7915 nah, she's genuinely a calmer nicer person. If you're this drunk, you are too far gone
Wow. The condition of the inside of that car says it all. She needs some help.
Pleasant lady all the best to her
Witnessing cops actually having fun and enjoying their jobs is refreshing
i feel like that’s more common for cops not in big cities and what not
Please, if it had been an unattractive woman it would’ve gone very differently.
It's true. When I got my DUI a long time ago, I treated the officers with respect, and they did the same for me. It makes the experience much easier. After my DUI, I realized how much danger I was putting other people and myself in. I learned my lesson, and I never drove drunk again. It was definitely an eye-opening experience.
So how does this video make it onto UA-cam? People make mistakes, unfortunately it's a costly one, live & learn.
@@thorazine0076 nah it is not a mistake. mistakes is when you don't mean it, you unintentionally did it. DUI is 100% intentional and deliberate not a mistake.
@@edmontoncouple1562 u making a new definition of Webster? Let me know when u come out with your own dictionary.
@@thorazine0076 let me know also if you wake up. webster is fucked up book. in the real world mistakes is/are not intentional.
I’m glad you learned your lesson, but you are a white woman. That’s the only reason you were treated with respect. A black woman can be just as respectful and more, and will still end up rough-handled. I know because I’ve experienced it!
Oh, the stories my son has told us over the years he was a patrol officer. He’s had a few that were hilarious! Drunk driving is never funny though, but this officer was respectful and did his job.
A part of me thought it was kind of funny and cute how this woman had to go to the bathroom the entire time, although I probably would have let her go pee before I started the observation period if I was the officer. I'm guessing some of your son's stories were pulling people over that claimed they had to pee real bad. 🤣
My son too. He said he would never tell me the gruesome stories.
Tell us some stories
Such a nice lady! 😀
The one officer could have walked over to the woman and reprimanded her and told her to get that car seat secured properly but instead he took the time to fumble around in her mess of a vehicle and secure it for her. That action makes me sway towards him actually caring about his job and responsibility for ensuring the safety of the people in his community. Well done officer.
you never had the childseat just loose in the car, because you needed the space or whatever reason. they dont have to be fastened correctly if there is nobody in it. tell me which law it says, i dont know one.
If there was ever a baby in that loose seat that’s horrible, but from the sounds of it her and her “baby daddy” swap the seat when they exchange the baby. So yeah maybe she just threw it in her car so she’d have it just in case but would have tightened it if she actually needed to put the baby in it.
16:12 The cops trying to regain composure after wretching has me in stitches!
puke issues
Oh man that's the main reason I could never do anything in the field of first responders. I have a really stupid phobia. I'd be fired for getting sick on someone or something then the ensuing panic attack after the incident
I have never heard of "puke puke," and I don't think I ever want to see it!
I think puke puke is probably the chunky kind.
16:40 when he gags again and his partner takes a step back 🤣
Yep, I watched the 1st two minutes and the last two of this video. Saved 50 minutes of my valuable time. :)
Respectful attitudes from both sides. This is how it should be. Unfortunately certain people don’t understand that concept.
“It’s not even like that, that normal puke, it’s puke puke”
~I died😂😂😂
I laughed the whole way through that part, it reminds me of my brother, who’s an officer too, and he legit can’t stand puke. When we were kids, our rooms were beside each other, and if I had a stomach bug that hit me at night like kids do, and throw up, you’d immediately hear him begin to gag as soon as he heard me vomit, then he’d retreat to the other end of the house away from me, so when he went into law enforcement I thought it was funny and said that he’d never make it on his weak stomach. He’s now a Captain in the State Patrol, and manages several counties. I went into nursing. This brought back memories😂
Lol that's like me, if I hear or see someone vomiting I join in with my dry retching lol
Lol..Which state
@@BlueMoonOfKentuckyKeepOnShinin yes I can't smell it or its over... I have too little ones with weak stomachs. Too many times the past 4-6 years I have been slipping and sliding or carrying heavy sheets filled with pizza or spaghetti ect outside. I'm the same... I cant even hear the fake puke noise.... Legitimately I was scared to have to clean up puke when I became a mom 12 years ago 🤣 nothing else. ... I now have a 6 year old who vomits at least once a month it's the worst 😭

As someone who works in healthcare I can really relate to this. We’re all just humans doing jobs that involve other humans.
My job has taught me that the moto “if you don’t laugh you cry” cannot be underestimated in life!
You have to laugh or you’ll cry. Terry Lazar, RN, CANP
have worked in the animal field, veterinary, shelter, all that. if you dont laugh youll cry
Laughter is the best medicine in the world..
Yo the cop shit talking when he was securing the car seat, at 1:20, had me in tears!!! I must've rewatched it at least 15 times 😂😂😂
Anytime someone says "I won't lie to you."
They're either about to lie to you or they were lying to you.
Same when they say “If I’m being honest…” Because WTF else were you being before?
My husband went about a year ago to interview a guy he was considering buying a small restaurant from. The guy didn’t bring full records and that was the sentence he spoke. I told him it was screaming red flag 🚩 🚩🚩🚩
Im not going to lie, this is 100% true. I wont lie to you.
@@lingling21100 🤣🤣🤣
I always say "I'm not gonna lie to you" right before I'm "brutally" honest with someone, usually if someone asks me for my opinion on something and it's not necessarily positive.
Wish her the best. Seems like she’s had a few bumps in the road. I hope it gets better. She’s a nice lady and hope she doesn’t give up hope.
All of us have had a few bumps in the road, some many bumps
@@ronniemead805 yeah, some peoples bumps include losing loved ones or being greviously injured by awful drunks behind the wheel. Sometimes they are kinda cute and thirsty people even watch a shorty get pulled over drunk to the state of throwing up in teh vehical with other drug paraphenlia and an improperly secured child seat. If it had been a man of the same age caught like this and behaving in a giggly and happy attitude it would not go this way and ther wouldn't be so many well wishers desperate to imagine a scenerio where they could be the man to change her life and take care of some otehr guys baby while she's out clubbing.
Apparently she got beat pretty bad by a boyfriend back in 2017, who also abused her dog.
@@Babidi111 dude, lay down the pipe, it's getting you bad
Yes all fun in games, My son was hit by a women drunk driver. His friend ended up getting the jaws of life to get out of the car and two broken legs..but she was nice

This is great!
She is just such a wholesome good spirited person. Best of luck to her.

She was highly intoxicated. She could have t-boned an innocent family and left the kids without a Mom or Dad or both.
She was arrested for DRUNK DRIVING. NOTHING WHOLESOME ABOUT THAT.
@@lucilemcgregor So what, politicians, cops, judges, lawyers ... They get DUIs too.
@@lucilemcgregor Honestly, If I lived in the US I would probably drive after a drink or two too...in such a car driven society it must be difficult to get home when you're drunk...call an uber and risk (as a woman) to get kidnapped like that gal that just hopped into a wrong car just a year ago...or...that's really it. In Europe every city got a great public transportation, even during the night...so you can just hop on a bus and be home in 15 minutes. Not happening in the US unless you live in NYC.
I feel for her. She was treated with great respect which is what you get when you treat them with respect. Awesome!
She waaaasss driving drunk tho, no one seems to care becuase she's nice.. Hopefully she won't do it again

I laughed so hard when when they found her cup of puke. The one officer started dry-heaving, while the other one was there salivating.
that's how's you know your about to puke, your mouth produces saliva to protect your esophagus from stomach acid
Watching Brooke go from drunk, buzzed to realizing the mess she's put herself into is a bit sad. However, she shouldn't have been on the roads in that condition and I hope she learned her lesson. She was actually lucky to have respectful and nice officers who fixed the car seat and made sure she was ok with her inhaler.
I felt sorry for her until I seen she’s the kind of female that would be with a guy who had a record number of dui’s. I’ve seen the type.
If she was a man who was " nice" people wouldn't be so sympathetic. Cute and young can also = manipulative when you're pulled over by the police.
You’re seeing her use what she has to get out of what she has gotten herself into. being pretty and flirting. Do you really think she thought she went to school with him?
@@betha.6279 I could totally see the same humor happening with a bubbly, naturally charming young man. I’ve met a lot of guys with the same disposition.
