It's kinda cool cause I think this is the closest the series has come to looking like the original concept art by Yoshitaka Amano. Some people say it's too dark but those pieces of art back in the day were drawn with an intentionally sharp and darker tone to compete with the round and bouncy vibes of Akira Toriyamas artwork made for Dragon Quest.
Ramuh's ost is the hideaway track but more grandoise. I heard that song multiple times and when I reached the hideaway I was like wait a min this sounds familiar
Most games give me repeated "wtf" moments during their story lines where I get frustrated that characters are doing needless stuff or their priorities are out of whack and I'm left scratching my head. But in ff16 I felt like everything was done right and when they should've been done, how they should've been done in the order they should've been done. The scene where Cid decides his immediate priority should be the crystals exemplifies this. He's not just trading ideals with Clive, he's actively making a good point. You can't help your people if they are dead. So, he's not ignoring the big threat or pushing it back, he's prioritising it. I feel a lot of games lack this feeling of urgency when they really need it. I wish other games committed to their stories like this. It's masterful.
