This is a relatively popular genre today that usually requires no explanation, as it is so niche. Looking for anomalies like that has had quite a boom recently, and the gameplay is always the same, so I guess the devs just relied on a tag so they don't translate anything. that being said, I actually bought a game twice that was this anomaly hunt without even realising it, and I find two times a bit too much. Did enjoy one of them, however, called "the exit 8". Same gameplay: go thought loops (this time eight times, turn away and run from anomalies, proceed if there are none), just the atmosphere is better than what you've shown over here.
even though Im sure its mostly just store assets, it looks great visually tbf. even the character models themselves somehow dont look uncanny despite being realistic, its only the animations (or lack of) thats uncanny
Damn I clicked on this video because nobody talks about Nightmare House, a mod for HL2, since Nightmare House 2 exists. Heck people barely talk about Nightmare House 2 either.
@@youreallyplaythat Different game, yes lol. The one in this video looks like a bog standard anomaly spotter asset flip, someone just bought a few basic assets and set them up to be an "anomaly spotter" type game, inspired by games like Exit 8. Nightmare House, the mods for Half-Life 2, are completely different games.
Do you normally enjoy the anomaly type games, or was this going to fail with you regardless? I love the idea of having to pay attention, but I can also see it getting taxing pretty quickly if the rest of the game isn't interesting
Nothing is a guarantee fail with me and I'm good with a mild scare- which is what I think we have here. ...Suddenly a person is standing in the shadows... ok, anomaly & creepy. It's a low-risk game because no one is jumping out to grab or kill you. The main mechanic being that you just have to recognize something is off? That's a little bit of a bore. I think I wanted this to be more of a backrooms/ SCP thing... bigger than just a few rooms.
@JonnyRecaps the keypad controller? I do have one from a few years back but can't say I use it. A benefit to some games... I always thought strategy games where you could bind squads to specific keys. That could be useful
@@youreallyplaythat That's the one (Razer Tatarus Pro specifically). I write horror as well and I type really fast, but every time I try using my traditional keyboard for games I end up confused. I figured this controllers layouts different enough to help my head distinguish the difference
Looks like Unreal Engine 5. The install size is probably half massive textures and detailed models, and half unoptimized.
@poindexterfrink8276 Sounds about right. unreal is the talkof the town these days. It looks great!
do you know what else is massive?

@kevintheradioguy131 I will have to start looking for these games. This was my first anomaly game, I think. I will give exit 8 a look. Thanks!
Exit 8 and the "prequel" on the train are both decent. The train one is much better imo

It does look great, for sure.

@@FlareBinar this is all new to me. Did not realize we were in the mod realm. I will have to dig deeper.ty!
@@FlareBinar this might be a different nightmare house.... I'm going to have to try all these others now....

I've just purchased myself a Razer Tartarus 🥴 Have you ever used anything like it?

Very apt because I, too, was getting tired of the Short Horror gamble on steam.
@Rensra I love a new game but they are a gamble for sure!
