I miss this version of them Timmy the kind -hearted but average kid, Wanda the cheerful godmother, Cosmo the Charming godfather and Vicky the somewhat neutral selfish teenager.
Now in the show Timmy is a selfish and irredeemable little twat, Wanda is a naggy hoe, Cosmo is an extreme dumbass, and Vicky is an insanely evil bitch for no reason.
I remember them saying they wanted to have him sound like a used car salesman, he was street smart while Wanda was book smart, during a lot of season 1 that’s the cosmo we got, but during production of the show they wanted cosmo to be less smart, but this voice wasn’t good for that
I liked the older dynamic where Wanda was good at spells and remembering Da Rules but socially inept, and Cosmo was bad with spells but able to talk/charisma his way through problems. It meant they each were good for different jokes
Plus they were truly in love, unlike the later seasons of FOP where it seemed Cosmo hated being married and Wanda was passively aggressive about marrying Cosmo

Honestly this is just what naturally happens to the dumb trope characters. They start off silly and endearing, but over time they must constantly outperform their own stupidity to prove their role as the dumber character and eventually they revert to Neanderthals

Then Timmy made him wish he forgot he made that wish and when he did that, it messed with his head and we have the Cosmo we had in the series. But since he did sounded smart and responsible the process could have went Timmy made Cosmo dumb "for a game" > made the eternal 10 year old wish > "made Cosmo forget his this wish" > kept him dumb. Over 50 years of this and I have no doubt Cosmo and Wanda would take some sort of mental hit. Hence why they are starting to act a little bit closer to their older self in the new show. They are healing lmao
I really don’t have any idea why they change the series and characters for the worst. The first season of fairly odd parents even by today still has pretty entertaining Storylines, and really great jokes that’s executed perfectly. The series progress into a much more obnoxious territory. Cosmo goes from being fairly confident to overly high-pitched an overly stupid to the point where you feel dumb watching it.
This reminds me how in Invader Zim the Tallest, Red and Purple, were pretty much the same character early on. Then Red became the angry one and Purple became the stupid one.
