Great video! You really knocked it out of the park. Just met with a buddy of mine who moved back to the Island after several years in Prince George. He said the ferry fealt like a cruise and the Island is the most beautiful thing he's seen in years. We're blessed to be here and you'll be lucky, and happy, you moved here.
Fantastic video! I'm Cat, owner of a travel company that brings people to Nanaimo, Qualicum and Parksville for an active vacation. I'll share your video with my customers. Sometimes they buy places here too!
I always encourage people to come and visit for a vacation before they decide on where to purchase a property. I’ll make sure to look you up online and reference your company ❤️
Mum is moving from a cliff view home in Qualicum (still for sale btw someone buy it!) to a condo in Parksville. It's a nice spot downtown close to shops and unlike Qualicum she'll have access to the Parksville beach without getting in a car, that was her deciding factor. Half her friends through turn their noses up at Parksville lol there's definitely a thing there
Great informative video. As a 12 yr. resident of Nanaimo, one thing that struck me about Parksville that you didn’t touch on is the lack of ethnic and cultural diversity - just my opinion!
@@Nanaimore we didn't get to see Nanoose, but a quick visit to Maple Bay showed its beauty. But we're looking in the Nanaimo and Qualicum beach areas, though we need to revisit those areas to get more familiar with them. We'll be on the island very soon, looking for a house to buy, hopefully with you as our realtor. Your videos have been very helpful!
I've lived and worked in both places, currently in Parksville. Both places have beautiful beaches, Parksville has more forested type areas if you're into that. There are so many drug addicts and vagrant type people roaming around parksville these days, it really seems to have become a major issue in the last year or two. Qualicum is a beautiful place, but it feels very isolated when you live there and I found myself leaving to nanaimo or other places to shop or find activities. For groceries you have one option, and that place has really gone downhill in the last year. I guess both places have their pros and cons depending on what you are looking for in a community
Primarily, these communities are focussed on seniors and retirees. This is slowly changing overtime, but it will not be overnight. If you’re looking for more lively lifestyle, you might want to look to a larger city center. Or if you enjoy outdoor biking, I would recommend living in Nanaimo closer to all major biking trails.
To fly to Parksville or Qualicum fly Nanaimo or Comox, NOT Victoria. Parksville has more sunshine on average than Qualicum beach or Nanaimo. The Parksville walks along the beach have no smog as it does in Qualicum. The draw back is that are very few physicians on Vancouver Island since Covid rules, even though Maderna admitted to causing clots and strokes in UK courts. BC health has not been truthful with the science.
@Nanaimore that's like saying the average high in lytton is 40 degrees. Just because it gets that hot sometimes, doesn't mean that's the average high. You have to factor in the rainy days where it doesn't get up to 20 as well. Here's a more accurate chart en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parksville,_British_Columbia
Is that even a question? Do you like robberies and drug/homeless issues? If you do move to Parksville. Or do you prefer a quite more upscale small town without those issue? If so Qualicum Beach.
Grateful for your videos. Moving to Ladysmith in April. All these non stop complaints about the dangerously criminal homeless folk around Nanaimo Parksville etc so ridiculous when one is coming in from elsewhere. If it matters so much that one has to comment- then go volunteer at the many centers- and help your neighbors.

I'm glad you've made it to the Island. There's no better place in Canada if you're looking to escape the intense winters!
Man, what a nice vid! Thank your for your time spent to share all those informations!
Thank you for the kind words!!! So happy you enjoyed it 👍
Great job comparing and contrasting the two. They are very different and you've nailed that.
Thank you so much for watching it commenting! What part of the world are you from?

Qualicum beach for the win !
Be careful in grocery store, pharmacy, and liquor store parking lots. Not the best drivers in Qualicum Beach lol.

What are the names of the areas that are best to live in both Parksville and Qualicum Beach? You showed pictures but didnt name the areas. Thanks!
Anywhere is an upgrade from Nanaimo, there's something wrong with that community. Something unnatural.
They are both extremely nice towns to visit.
On my way to the beach now! Love this area of Vancouver Island. Have a great long weekend!
@@Nanaimore I just live an hours drive north in Courtenay.
Don't know where you got the house prices from. In Qualicum, it's more like $1,000,000.

Horseshoe Bay is in West Vancouver, not North Vancouver
I'm going to need proof of you claim!
