My favorite it Durham’s wood putty. It is a powder that you add water to get it whatever constancy you like. It doesn’t shrink and dries as hard as bondo.
Thanks for the tip, Lorrie! I think we tried that years ago and really liked it. We'll have to try it again. That would certainly solve the "drying out" issue.
Same here. It’s cheap, gets really hard, fast and can be thinned to cover wood grain!
I love that you went out of your comfort zone and tried some new and different techniques. The nightstands turned out great.

To fill deep holes like from drawer hardware, I like kwikwood. Hardens quickly and truly does not shrink or look weird under paint.

Haha... yes you should!. This was really thick lace so it took quite a bit of poly to get it to stick to the drawer fronts but it worked really well with keeping it in place and no Bleed Trhough!!! Yay!
