So, I love mushrooms AND I delight in picking the weeds out of my grass. 😂 It is therapeutic!
I am struck by what a supportive, safe, and loving environment you provide for Jason. You are so good at preserving his dignity while having to set hard boundaries and limits. I know it cannot always be easy or pleasant.
Continuing to keep you both in my prayers.

One of the things that people don't understand about LBD is the long term memory thing. There really has to be more education and awareness about this horrible type of dementia. I am constantly reminding the people involved with my father about how this dementia presents because they really don't see beyond his ability to talk about long term memory things and they keep telling me that there is nothing wrong with him. It is frustrating because his showtiming kicks in for the short visits he gets from people and they don't witness the aftermath of the visits. Then they proceed to tell me that I am cruel for not taking care of him at home and why does he need to be in a LTC home. I did that for 11 years, to my own detriment. It totally wore me out and wreaked havoc with my mental health. Other peoples accusations on top of the verbal abuse I receive from my father just adds to the anguish. I didn't even tell anyone about having to deal with his bladder and bowel incontinence as well as his non-compliance about everything and his falls and setting himself and other things on fire, to just name a few.. He is also 96 1/2 years old and how much do people think one person can endure as the sole caregiver to someone in severe stage LBD. Leslie, thank you from the bottom of my heart, what you are doing in creating awareness is so, so valuable. I am so grateful for you and your videos. i found you from A Charming Abode and I'll stay with you for both vlogs. Hugs to you

No one should be judgmental about your decisions, especially after having been a caregiver for 11 years (!) People only know what they see, and sometimes it's just a tiny bit of reality. It must be super hard when you're trying to make videos like Leslie does, and she wants to show Jason at his best, but then people get confused because he SEEMS to be doing well.

My grandfather, who lacked two months reaching 100, used to crawl all over his large yard and cut weeds out with his knife. When Jason was doing that, a flood of memories came over my grandfather doing that. He also couldn't see well, but he knew a weed when he felt it and cut it right out of there. He sure had a beautiful yard!! Moss him dearly!!

I love this music, Leslie. You are such a beautiful being of light and love. Your smile and laugh are infectious. I am a nurse who has worked with folks that are stricken with LBD. It’s such a tough road for families. They have so much guilt and pain for having to put their loved one in LTC, but I feel blessed, honored, and privileged to be able to care of these beautiful souls that need us not only from a nursing need, but also as they need love and patience and sometimes just sitting with them and talking with them. Love from Colorado. ❤

I can’t believe how much Jason’s symptoms compare to my husband’s. We saw a neurologist a few months ago when my spouse was diagnosed with vascular dementia. We are at year three with symptoms. There has been a big change in the last year. He was a commercial project manager and before that a custom home builder for most of his career. Now about the only thing he is able to do is mow the lawn. He will be 78 in February. The neurologist said my husband would probably pass with a stroke and that the normal longevity of the disease is about 4-5 yrs.after diagnosis. I have so appreciated your channel it has been a tremendous help in trying to navigate this horrible diagnosis.

I appreciate you, and this video, and everything you and Jason share with us. I’m so irritated with dementia today, I’m in tears. I hate how it’s stealing my dad!!! Ugh. I just want to ask the Lord whyyyy. I’m 50 years old, my dad is 70, and dementia is taking him away in such unexpected ways. Similar to Jason, it’s his ability to be logical, rational, and empathetic that we have lost. And other people look at him and scoff. They doubt his diagnosis and it burns me up!! Like we would EVER want to pretend with this stupid illness!! …sorry for the rant…it’s not at y’all. It’s my heart’s rage against this disease and how it impacts so much more than one person. It’s not fair.

I’ve taken away some useful information one being show timing and another with the Sertraline causing sweating. My husband has mild to moderate dementia Alzheimer. I know there is a difference between Lewy body and Alzheimer but some of the symptoms are similar. My loved one with dementia was much like Jason in that he traveled extensively when he was younger. As the dementia progressed, he would be upset and agitated when he so much as left his own room…but still said all he wanted to do was travel. In his mind, he was a traveler until the day he passed away and was so frustrated that he “wasn’t allowed” to hop on a plane and go go go. He just couldn’t grasp how upsetting travel was for him and didn’t retain any memory of his distress even minutes after getting back to his room after being away from it for the shortest time.

I am glad you mentioned that there is a difference for memory between long term and short term. Seems like most of the time, long term stays more intact regardless of the dementia classification. Age is a factor also. My relative also wants to travel but then will decide not to go, often canceling at the last minute. What sounded "fun" to him two weeks ago is no longer what he will want to do. I let him make plans knowing 90% of the time a trip will not happen.

I think it’s great that Jason does have his long term memory because it allows him to use his digger for example and I’m sure many other things he used to be interested in doing. It’s a blessing in a very sad situation.
I think it’s far worse than just sat there waiting.
My late Dad had Vascular Dementia but he still remembered things about his car/engine etc which was lovely. He was much older than Jason.
It’s important to allow anyone with dementia (or any illness) to have something that they chose to do unless it’s unsafe of course.
I’ve said this before, but to have such early on-set dementia is unbelievably cruel and I keep hoping there will be a significant breakthrough in early prevention, better treatment and one day, a cure!!
Hope you’re able to take a breather for yourself Leslie 🥰🍰🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️
Jason, keep up the good Garden work oh and weeding the lawn!! I have OCD and used to be the same!!! 🥰🍦🍦🙅‍♀️🥰

Thank you so much for sharing.
Great to see Jason outside doing his thing. That’s a great way to share if he’s not feeling like talking.
Thank you also for the little chat about your lives. It’s really good to hear from you!
Jason sounds so much like my son- age 38.
    All short term memory issues.
    God bless you both xx
