I actually have 3 cheap carbon handle bars, many of my friends as well, in various shapes and sizes, no problems whatsoever. Same for cheap saddles and paddles for example.
There’s enough anecdotal evidence out there as well as reviews on AliExpress itself to show that you should not trust cheap carbon handlebars. I see a number of comments already saying the same.
"Insanely cheap" isn't something I'd be touting about anything as important as a handlebar. Would you shop at "Discount Parachutes" online outlet in China? :-)
Yes, a few years ago I bought a set of "Time" carbon bars, from a highly regarded seller on another website, that snapped at both sides of the stem at a inopportune moment, insides of bothy arms lacerated by carbon shards. Went back to Ritchey alloy bars, a industry standard.
My Wahoo Tickr broke after 6months, foolishly bought another which lasted even less. Happy to have a punt on this one for £10. Also ordered the pump. Thanks. 🙏
I think the Cycplus AS2 Pro is a much better pump, the gauge is accurate and it stops when you are at your chosen pressure and it can pump up at least 5 28mm tires to 5,5bar.
Thanks for showing us these great gadgets! I'm definitely gonna try the electric pump. I just have to add sth regarding the heart rate sensors, I'm using the Polar H10 since years and it's still doing a great job. 12:02
The benchmark as well as first one out there with display in compact body was CycPlus. I have been using this for almost a year now and would not look back. It has enough juice to do 3-4 27.5 2.2" MTB tyres from flat but as a top up will last a lot longer. And those are available on Amazon UK without a need to import anything. Fumpa was absolute first but they don't have mini version with pressure indicator - CycPlus for me all the way!
Regarding electric pump, how many times do you need to pump up a tyre on a ride over course of a year? Couple times if unlucky to get a puncture so a mini pump better option especially as if you haven't had to use it for say 6 months will battery still be sufficient or potentially run down over time like most gadgets. Seem a good idea but I think I'll stick with reliable mini pump. As for Magene, I have a couple of speed/cadence sensors from them and very good. Can swap between speed or cadence as required.
I have other Rock Bros products and I find them great value. The torque spanner looks the pants, be interested in one of those. And the heart rate monitor, deft going to get one of those..! Cheers!
Magene H303 and other models are great(GEOID also) but after a period of time the readings go off the charts on the upper limits unusable- had to cut a gap on HRM strap between the buttons leaving a inch gap like wahoo ticker ,and seems to have sorted out the spikes in readings
Radius on that handlebar is too small and you will have problem to slide your shifters in/out along this curve. I actually tried with Ultegra, rings fully opened and dented the top layer of the carbon.
Great to see you shouting out the cheaper HR Straps Dave, nice one. I've been using one for around £30 (from Amazon) for the last year and a half and it's not missed a beat (excuse the pun). The one tip would be to take the unit off the strap when you're using it as it really saves battery life. I might be the only person to have only learnt this recently, but it's been brilliant for the life of the coin battery. Cheers!
I wish they’d make an electric pump which was longer and not as wide so it either fits in a pump clip or even better for me, fits in the internal frame storage space.
I wouldn’t buy an electric pump.. one more thing to charge and carry along with a standard pump just in case the electric ones becomes faulty or goes flat. Just my opinion, prefer manual pumps..Pete 🚴🏻👍

@@paulwoodward8265 We don't understand a lot of cyclists these days..... We even use heavier tyres in winter so we don't have to fix punctures in the freezing rain. Why would you risk multiple punctures on a long ride using light tyres in a 17mph + headwind.
AliExpress is paying local taxes, so shipping into different country can be more expensive due to different taxes. Also there are usually multiple sellers for same item and their prices may vary, and often there are discount actions.
I've heard stories of them softening and sagging the ultralight ones with the plastic valve stem. There are a couple brands though that have a metal valve stem at the cost of a couple grams more weight, but won't melt from a warm pump head and have a removable valve core, so.
Good ones do have a flexible tube adapter that detaches hot pump from the valve. I.e. my CycPlus AS2Pro does have it and has zero problems with plastic valves/TPU tubes.
You'll catch some for Ali carbon bars! I have an Ali carbon seat post on my winter bike 2 years without issue. Ali carbon saddle on my summer bike again zero issues, I'm not brave enough to go Ali carbon handle bars. Buy one from wera or norbar that are real tool companies, not money grabbers like park tool. Also the measurements and the inspeciton paper of that wrench are fake . Having an 4-5-6 thousand bike and not having a proper torque wrench is inexusable
Torque on bikes is not that critical, missing recommended value by 1 or 2 N.m will surely never be a problem. Cheaper, less precise, torque wrenches are probably a good option if you're on a budget but still want to make sure you're not massively over/under-tightening a bolt.
well they don't do that, that's why the lead times are huge. They wait till they can fill a shipping container. Carbon footprint of that is surprisingly reasonable. Pretty much everything is made in China and shipped here these days in any case, so I wouldn't sweat it from an environmental footprint for that reason alone. But that assumes the goods are fit for purpose and will last - if they wind up in landfill it's not so good. I'd need some convincing on the quality of stuff this cheap.
