Finally, someone is reacting to the album version rather than the live version (it seems like everybody else watches the Copenhagen or New York live concerts ad nauseum). I say this because with this song Ian Gillan's vocals are supreme, whereas I have never heard him reproduce it the same way again. I have seen Purple twice and they were magnificent, and their musicianship is second to none. Love your choice.
No one played solo like that 54 years ago ! Only Richie Blackmore could play like that! With all the respect to Jimi page and Tony iommi Deep purple Led zeppelin Black sabbath The unholy trinity of the rock a N roll ever!
This is one of the best ever Deep Purple songs in my opinion, and there are other great songs on this album, including 'Hard Lovin' Man', 'Speed King' and 'Into the Fire'. But, to me, 'Child in Time' is a masterpiece, Ian Gillan's vocals, Jon Lord's keyboards, Ritchie Blackmore's guitar, Roger Glover's bass guitar and not forgetting Ian Paice's fantastic drums, they are all come together to make this song so memorable and iconic. Thanks so much for your reaction, Anthony. 😊😊
I have heard and enjoyed the live version, but to me, nothing can beat the original studio version, it's a masterpiece. The beginning with Jon Lord's organ playing gives me goosebumps every time! But of course, everyone has their own preference, some prefer the live version, some prefer the studio.😊😊
@@annemaclean6634 The studio version is so much better than the live, and in 95% most songs are. There is so much of this song that is lost that it's not worth it.
This song must be seen live. There's concert footage from a TV show from I believe 1969. Watch that and you'll never listen to this version again. Right on bro. Hi from Texas.

@@AAndromeda-lw7fh Yes, I've heard 'Made in Japan' and it is excellent. I do enjoy live performances, it's just with this particular song, I prefer the studio version. 😊😊
@@annemaclean6634 OK! ... I always listen to studio versions first, as the “live” recordings are always different! And that applies to almost all groups and solo artists! ☺🤗
This is a song they ripped off from a band called Its A Beautiful Day called Bombay Calling, just like they ripped off the Smoke on the Water riff from a bossa nova by Carlos Lyra. At least they were very upfront about the music they stole, unlike Led Zeppelin who tried to hide it as long as possible.😮

I had the album for 5 decades and a friend ask me a months ago ïf I still needed it. 😁I gave it to him as a gift. Happy dude left my house with it.
A flute? That is a Hammond organ.

Stop doing remastered crap. The live version of this from 1970 kills this remastered junk....
