Just started roofing a couple months ago... I’ve been in construction for years but was told I am above the average for roofing and am pushing forward for having this career for several years! It is the hardest job (physically) as of right now in my life! Much respect and I noticed you don’t use your gauge... just your water mark ! Impressive sir 💪🏼

I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.

I did my own roof solo, including stripping, prepping, tar papering, shingling, and carrying everything up the ladder. At age 75, I had a sore back for over a month, but I saved myself $16,000 compared what the lowest estimate I got that would have used the cheap three shingles. I used architectural shingles for my windy area would I ever do it again if I moved to a different place? No way in hell. I'd be crazy to.

Not bad man, Quality is always first, I respect that. If you wanted to try things a bit different to help speed you up you could try leaving your bundles on a 45 up the climb and having half a bundle on your left foot so that as you walk up your carrying your bundle up with you, as well after your first nail turn your gun sideways to put the rest of the nails in which will help speed and avoiding high nails.

Leave the end nail off. Nail it when you nail your joint. It will give you a shorter range to shoot faster and more accurate. I promise you'll thank me later when you win. Once you get used to it you'll understand. Just don't walk all over your loose ends and keep your bundle placement a little lower. What I always did was half the bundle. Have both halves exactly where they need to be so I can just keep pulling and never had to reach for more.
Cheers man! My knee is jacked and I quit roofing along time ago.

It gets very windy here and as you prob know its only warm a few months of the year so the factory plastic cement on the shingles is never enough so if you dont tar the shingles you will see a bunch of tabs laying on the ground after a high wind. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned in the comments or not, but if your a four or six nailer that's a slight advantage/disadvantage too. I think if this gets any bigger, you might have to add different zones, for champs. @@NWIVeteranConstruction I do about a bundle per song with my headphones on I'll have to record my self doing a square and post it on my channel. When I nail I turn my gun 90° parallel with my shingle and keep the trigger held down and just bounce it and when a nail doesn't go all the way in I use my gun like a hammer. Same gun for 3 years already. It's a harbor freight and I have a new Ridgid back up in my truck that I have never used. Also I took off all the junk I dont use like the shingle spacer thing and half of the nail cover and one gripper on one side so I lay it on the side with the rubber gripper so it doesn't slide when I lay it down. Just to take some weight off of it. I only put one drop of oil in it per day I think that's the secret. I seen other people's guns give out and they put too much oil in their gun. The only problem I had with it was it would jam on the last nail in the coil if I was going too fast so I took off the plastic cover now I can see when I'm close to my last nail and slow down.

I previously owned a roofing/construction company. As a general rule, an average of 3 square an hour is a good crew and benchmark. This was for tear off, felt, drip, and replacement. 3 guys, 24 square, 8 hour day to completion. $75 a square and we made a good honest living. Only major difference I see, I like to carry a half bundle at a time with my leading foot/leg.

Got into roofing in the late 70's, so not quite as old as your mom. (yes, the standard shingle years!) Anybody too young to understand that statement should just move on to the next video! For the bulk of my career, I was, and still am a hand nailer. Out of the bag, no stripper. The guy that taught me was awesome. His theory was, "you gotta do it right before you do it fast! Any employer that hands a "rookie" a nail gun, before that rookie has proven his knowledge with a hammer and nails is a fool!! Just my opinion.
Yup! Your momma was quick! Faster than a lot of guys with a gun! One of my very best days was 17 2/3 squares in 7 hours. (broom clean, edge metal, felt, and hand nailed) And yes, I've worked with a few guys quicker in my career. (I'm not claiming to be a rock star by any means) I spent one full spring / summer doing recover / reroofs in a part of San Diego. (Mira Mesa) At that time, a hardware store (HandyMan) was going out of business. The bad news...ground drop only! I had houses lined up, ready to go, one after the other. I'd show up the first day, hand load, and hand nail 15 squares. Come back the next morning, complete that house and jump to the next. The homes averaged 18 to 24 squares. I was working 6 days a week, hand loading / hand nailing 4 homes every 6 days by myself. Again, not claiming to be fast...but a pretty respectful pace, considering all the trips up the ladder.
Although no longer currently installing, at nearly 63 years old, i just completed a complete reroof of my own home. (tear-off, re-sheet, new fascia) I cheated, and used a nail gun on parts of it!
The guy that posted this video seems legit! BUT...there's way too many "look at how fast I can shingle" videos on here, where all of the prep work has been done, the shingles are all separated, and perfectly placed before the dude starts "the timer?" That means nothing to me. You could train a monkey to shoot a nail gun quickly...and probably more accurately than some of the "worlds fastest shingler" posts on here.
Respect to your Mom and all the other old geezers like me!
      Thanks for posting. RM

well this roof is about 4,100 sq ft. which is 41 squares. and people out here charge anywhere between $250 and $1,000 per square for an easy walker like this.
