Did anybody else 100% see Layla coming for number 1?
Everybody did.
Thank God it was not the unplugged version. Perhaps some will say it is my age and I grew up with the Derek and the Dominoes version but I just never get behind the unplugged version. Perhaps it is not my age though as my 29yr old son and my 20yr old son prefer the original also. LOL
I honestly expected Tears in Heaven
@@rondamorris3550 I ne er liked the remake either. Give me "THE ORIGINAL LAYLA".
I love Clapton! But my faves weren't on the list.😢.
Might as well make a list of Top 10 songs inspired by Pattie Boyd.
Actually, you could do a Top 10 of songs inspired by Pattie and her sister Jennifer. They were quite the pair.
Ha ha yeah there's definitely a few more, I suspect Hung Up On Your Love Again is about her
Maybe there isn't enough for an e tire album.
No#1 Layla No#2 wonderful tonight
Wouldn't we have to include George Harrison??
"The pair eventually married with Harrison's blessing." George: "Feel free to marry my wife."
Ex-wife. George Harrison remarried in 1978, so he got over losing his other wife. Clapton and Boyd married in 79'.
I believe Harrison's exact words were "take my wife...….PLEASE!".
Y'all haven't heard Harrison's version of "Bye Bye Love"? Harrison did feel hurt, but felt it was better to lose to someone he knew than a stranger.
This man is my favorite guitarist ever, my favorite song of all time is Layla and he inspired me to play the guitar. Long live slow hand
Diego Pigeon I hear you Diego I agree
Duane
Your profile picture says it all.
Randy Rhoads or nothing
Yes
I grew up loving Eric Clapton. My mom took me to a concert when I was a toddler and I was so excited! I remember when I was in kindergarten, the teacher was asking what everyone's favorite songs were, and of course other kids were saying Old McDonald, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, etc, but I said "Cocaine." The teacher had to call home and my mom laughed and explained, haha!
Bell Bottom Blues, Badge, Tears In Heaven are three of my favorites but Promises has to be my favorite Eric Clapton song ever.
W H E R E W A S W H I T E R O O M
That's what I was thinking. That's my Second place.
This is a list of commercial Clapton songs
White Room was just litterly joked about by watch mojo when they were talking about sunshine of your love and they didn't even give a honorable mention
#1: Tears in heaven... Mostly because of the story behind the song
Yes true it's a fabulous music but I prefer Layla musically
For me, "Tears in Heaven" is definitly number one.
Absolutely beautiful song, just so much hurt behind it. I can feel the music, but I couldn’t imagine the pain he felt after his son passed.. :(
Same
Number one song of all time!
Layla
Yeah, same.
How did white room not even get an honourable mention?
+joe foley that and "Tales of Brave Ulysses"
White Room - Jack Bruce and Pete Brown
I know it's one of his best songs
its honorable
Not PC enough I guess.
"Wonderful Tonight" is my favorite of any love song. I consider it the most romantic song I know.
Isabel Taylor
I think so 🙂
1. Layla
2. Cocaine
3. Tears in Heaven
4. White Room
5. Sunshine of Your Love

Bagge
Good musician
Yug89 7
Layla is the one song I never get sick of. I’ve heard it more often than any other song. Of course you can always argue, but to me Layla is a perfect song. Everything just fits. The main guitar line is epic, the vocals full of emotion. The song is pure drive and energy. And every time the chorus kicks in I can’t help but scream along. I look forward to hearing it live in about half a year when Slowhand comes to Munich.
Am I the only one that thinks that Top10 Cream Songs should have been a separate list?
I think that too
Personman I think
Yes and they left off a lot of Honorable mention. Sh*t it should have been top 30 for the GOD
Clapton was cream
Sam Carroll you are so wrong . all of creams members were genuis
Top 10..NO! we need a top 100 Clapton songs!!
y
@@randomuser964 must be diehard fan of Justin beiber
I was named after eric claptons song, layla
join the club
Funny because the songs title Layla was named after a character named Layla in a Persian poem that Clapton read. It was a love poem that strongly resonated with him and his obsession with Pattie Boyd
I named my son Eric
I named my dog McCartney :)
bfd
While my guitar gently weeps? At least an honorable mention
richdawg85 well Clapton had just done the solo on the song, Harrison wrote it
he was only a guitarist on that song
Yes but they said if we see it at a clapton concert it's fair game.
It was of george harrison,,the beatles

+afropunk90 I love that song, thanks for letting me know I forgot it.
I always thought Bob Marley covered him?
I always thought Bob Marley covered him?
Clapton has so much good music I love it all!!
I am 62 years old and listened to Eric since I was 11 or12 and just when you think you got eric down he would just smack you up side the head leaving me say dang !!! Eric you surprised me again . The Cross road festivals are such a treat!!
Bell Bottom Blues and Badge for me. My favorite solo of his post Cream and not called Bell Bottom Blues is probably Forever Man though. Extremely simple. Enters with a bang. Exits with a bang. Tone for centuries. That is all.
Wonderful Tonight brings me WAY back. My parents used to listen to it all the time when I was a toddler.
Indy The Great
Thank you, Patty Boyd, for living as the inspiration for some of the greatest songs ever written.
Sorry, but she was pitifully out of touch with everything.
A Very MLG Potato what about George Harrison who she hurt really bad , should we thank her for that . It's called screwing around no matter how famous you are and I Eric Clapton is one miserable sod
Is this the same George Harrison who was screwing everything that moved at the time? Or does that not count because he was a man?
Steve Hunter Both George and Pattie were wrong. They both were cheating. I may love George but I don't like the fact that he cheated in both his marriages.
She must be a spe ial kind oc woma
The cream era is my favorite Clapton Era shows his true heavy guitar sound with both Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker being gods in their own rights
I love Layla
Where is "Let It Rain " ?
Jorge Guzmán Yes!
definitely needs white room on this list, the solos are so great
People dont know who Eric Clapton is.... im not even in highschool and im a fan...
Yeah, he's an unknown, that's for sure......rme.
Good list, but I think White Room should have been on it.
+Charlie Compton White room is better than sunshine IMO
+Charlie Compton I agree, white room is my favourite from Cream/Clapton for sure. It's all preference though
For me White Room and Sunshine are so close I can't call it
Ludwik - Incorrect. Jack Bruce composed the music. Poet Pete Brown crafted the lyrics.
They said they're only including songs that can be played in a Clapton concert , he never played White Room because it's written by Jack not him
love Eric Clapton's voice and I bet you can guess what my favorite song of his is
a guitar solo
Layla , no doubt
Bad Love should be included
Why Isn't there any Blind Faith, Yardbirds, or John Mayall & The Blues Breakers?
Presence of ThE Lord
Eric Clapton - Pilgrim, the whole album is a masterpiece.
True. Brilliant album.
I agree. And I thought Journeyman was right up there also.
Eric Vera
I love the flute work on “Broken Hearted”...
George Harrison must have been really close with Eric Clapton
rojothe2nd
They were best friends and inspired each other to make more and better music
They referred to each other as Ex-Husbands- In- Law
Then patti Boyd came
George and Eric were not best friends before Patti Boyd.
monahawk 🤦🏻♂️

No one mentions "If I Could Change the World" but it's a damn fine tune.
My Father's Eyes is one of my favorite Clapton songs, shame it wasn't an honorable mention, but hey; at least it got played a little at the end.
Pretty good list though!

My top:
1. Cocaine

I feel his version of 'hide away' deserves an honourable mention.

@@ebecenti pp
My 2nd favorite Eric Clapton song is Bad Love behind Layla.
This guy was also the heart and soul of the Lethal Weapon films!!!!
Thanks a lot for doing this awesome work, so many various songs for one man! great idea to include covers!

#6?????????
Where is Bad Love? One of his most underrated songs
I would've at least expected it to be an honorable mention.
Clapton STILL is one of my ALL time Favs ..
One of the Great Legends in the Guitar World
Top Creedence Clearwater Revival songs
Greetings from the UK. How about this for starters, 10 Effigy, 9.It Came Out of the Sky, 8.Bad Moon Rising, 7. Lookin' Out My Backdoor, 6. Long as I Can See the Light, 5. Have You Ever Seen the Rain. 4. Run Thru' the Jungle. 3. Lodi, 2. Who'll Stop the Rain.1, Ramble Tamble.. Easy to guess my favourite CD from that choice.
CCR are very very underrated 😔
where do they come in?
Bob Heap Cosmo's Factory is definitely their best, especially with such a strong lead despite it not being a single.
Top 10 English bands
This idea is spot on. +1 internet for you
Hey you're that guy from What's Your Mojo! Hi...
I am not sure of the the others but I am 100%sure that the beatles would top the list
Merhawi Netzerab I would love to see the stone roses and the small faces in there somewhere.
yeah ofcourse led zeppelin, the rolling stones are in the top three but in no particular order the who, pink floyd and sex pistols are in the top ten too
finally!! ive been waiting for this for a loooong time
Well, what I like even more about "I shot the sheriff" is the mind - blowing guitar solo in the middle ..
Damn this Layla, she wins all love/classic/claptop related tops and a place in our hearts :). I wish White Room would've been #2, or in top 5
Here is my list of top 10 eric clapton songs ( solo, cream, Derek and the Domino's, anything associated with Eric clapton)
10) After midnight by Eric clapton (original or remastered, they both sound good)
9) Crossroads by cream
8) my father's eyes by Eric clapton
7) Strange brew by cream
6) White Room by cream
5) I shot the sheriff by Eric clapton
4) it's in the way that you use it by Eric clapton
3) Cocain by Eric clapton
2) Layla by Derek and the Domino's
1) Sunshine of your love by cream
The piano part at the end of Layla was definitely the best part in the song for me.... and it wasn't shown :(
It's good, but it's not the best part of the song!
I am ridiculously happy 'change the world' made the shortlist. thank you!!
You've heard as much truly great music in this fifteen minutes or so, as the "charts" has thrown up in the last 15 YEARS! loved everything Clapton ever made, but I think (and remember, this is just a personal opinion!) that the 'Journeyman' album just about tops the tree...
Peace.
Bad love? Gently weeps?
That solo in White room! 🙏😍love from India 🇮🇳
I was going to say that "Bad Love" should be on the list, but I honestly can't think which song I'd drop to make room. Clapton deserves a Top 100 list.
riding with the king? nobody knows you when your down and out?
Great album
I love blues from Eric
Favorite song is 'Just like a prisoner'. But I have over 60 of his songs on my Playlist. I've been listening to him since the 60's and I attended his concert a few months ago. Argue all you want about who is the greatest but he is my favorite.
RIP Duane Allman, your solo at the end of Layla is was made it so awesome IMO
I absolutely adore Bell Bottom Blues. It's so soulful and heartfelt.
I certainly hope Forever Man is in the Honorable Mentions, because I guess Layla is number one. According to ME, it would be weird not to feature Forever Man on this list.
My pick:
1-Let It rain
2-Presence of ThE Lord
3-Better make It through today
4-Circus left town
5-Wanna make LOVE TO you
6-She what LOVE can do
7-Layla
8-All our past times
9-I am yours
10-(not written by him: I am so glad)
Love his music and his great and unique style! Two big favorites of mine are Promises from the Backless album and My Father's Eyes from his Pilgrim album.
Clapton has many awesome hits but, I still believe some of his best work is yet to come though. He is a survivor and god bless him for being so great on the guitar!
Happy Birthday Eric Clapton!
Clapton is the Idol of millions of people and the influence of so many guitar players!
Thank You Sue!
Dwight Chamberlin Dwight I posted that before I left the house this morning. I'll look for the song Rita Mae :)
Dwight Chamberlin Will look for it, just came home
Dwight Chamberlin I found it Lol
Looking only at the thumbnail, anyone else thought of Henry Ian Cusick in Lost?... Desmond?... anyone?... no?........ Bueller?
I actually thought he was David Spade for a sec lol.
i thought the same brotha
Maybe in another life brotha
I went to school with his niece.
I would have had a very different top-10 and group of honorable mentions.
To go along with "Wonderful Tonight" and "Cocaine", the only two I would have retained from this list,
I would have included "Let It Rain", "She's Waiting", "Bad Love", "I've Got a Rock 'N' Roll Heart", "Pretending",
"Help Me Up", "It's In the Way That You Use It", "We're All the Way", "No Alibis", "Promises", "I Can't Stand It",
"Next Time You See Her", "Forever Man", "Another Ticket", "Miss You", "Riding With the King" (with B.B. King),
"White Room" (by Cream), "Blues Power" (1980 live version), "After Midnight" (1988 version), "Tulsa Time",
"Tearing Us Apart" (with Tina Turner) and his excellent cover of The Spinners' "Love Don't Love Nobody".
"Eyesight to the Blind" is a personal favorite of mine. Extremely underrated, in my opinion.
Can`t find my way home.....Blind faith....should be on it
markriobr 💯 oh yes
Gresh
It's a Steve Winwood song.
@@phoarey You're right,so was I shot the sheriff,,,Bob Marley, Cocaine JJ Cale.. Badge George Harrison and was to be call Bridge...and I wrote Blind Faith,,, now he sings and also he recorded in one of his albuns. Just like Sunshine of your love was Jack Bruce.
White Room not even an honourable mention? Definitely a better song than the overated Sunshine Of Your Love
Good that Bell Bottom Blues is here even though I'd have had it higher
Unless I'm mistaken, White Room is sung by Jack Bruce rather than Clapton, so I guess that's why it's not here. Agree on its brilliance though.
snaggleooo I think they must've meant only songs that Clapton originally sung cos all these songs just happen to be Clapton songs, but he has also sung this in concert & they said that counts, maybe they didn't know that
But they did mention it when they were talking about sunshine of your love, I do agree with you though
0532MOET ii
sunshine of your love is overrated??? one of the greatest riffs in rock history. and white is also a fantastic song, should be on the list!
Excellent call on Crossroads, every aspect of that song is amazing.
1. Let it grow
2. Layla
3. Sunshine of your love
4. Bell Bottom Blues
5. White room
6. Cocaine
7. Wonderful Tonight
8. I shot the Sheriff
9. Tears in Heaven
10. Strange Brew
Layla is number one. I know that even though I haven't watched the video yet because Watchmojo's so damn obvious. It deserves to be there though.
Yea Man Its All GOOD ???
Play wonderful tonight for your girl friend trust me
If only that actually worked...
guruo Y
I did,
Believe me,
Best
Trick
Ever
She fell into my arms like that
Lovely list...I love EC...I was thrilled to see one of my favorites, Motherless Children from 461 Ocean Blvd., made the honorable mention list...unfortunatly the video shown was Motherless Child from the album From the Cradle...close, but two different songs
As far as his own compositions, "Wonderful Tonight." Without a doubt... WONDERFUL TONIGHT.
Tales of Brave Ulysses by Cream???
great song, but it's probably more of a Jack Bruce song, as Clapton did not sing on it
Stratplayr he wrote it though
i totally agree with this list
"One of handful of highlights from the Layla album" That whole album was a highlight.
Hell yeah, amazing topic!
Before watching, I hope the underrated "Lonely Stranger" is here.
Top 10 Dire Straits Songs
Sultans of Swing would probably be number one, right?
Oban Mhhh Telegraph Road.
Oban money for nothing
brothers in arms
1)Sultans of swing
2)Telegraoh riad
3)Brothers in arms
I'm 68 and started listening to Cream in high school, Derek and the Dominos in college and his solo career since, EC has been the soundtrack of my life
Glad they've made a list for the big dog himself, but there were always gonna be more than 10 mega hits
There's an error with the name of the song in honorable mentions. The song played at 12:57 is not called 'Motherless Children' but 'Motherless Child' and is not from 1974 but from his 1994 album 'From the Cradle'.
Good catch. There's a lot of other things wrong with this, too.
@@markbrophy554 Lemon Pledge, dupa?
My Father's Eyes, Forever Man, She's Waiting, Layla, and more.
Sunshine of Your Love is always number 1 for me.
Top ten one hit wonders
UHM well I definitely do not agree that Clapton's version of I Shot the Sheriff is better, it is good but not nearly as good as Bob Marley's.
Personally, I'm not a fan of EITHER version...but I agree that Clapton's version is wildly popular.
Mat Chubs Marleys is flat out boring
The best all time Eric Clapton song in the world has to be after midnight done unplugged.the way he tears that guitar up on the riff is just phenomenal.
Little snippets like 'my fathers eyes' being used after saying 'do you agree with our list?', implying, yes, there are many other super songs missed out from this list, adds humility, gives me goosebumps - and has established watchmojo as one of the premier channels on youtube.
Oh and thank you for putting Kids With Guns in Gorillaz' top ten. Made my day.
"Why Does Love Got to be So Sad?" by Derek and the Dominos?
YES!!!!
yea..great guitar work
yes!
I mean just all of layla would suffice for this list
one of the best all time albums duane and eric thankfully they did one together
