Blood will tell, amazing adaptation of Dororo’s manga, Rygar precursor of God of War, Skygunner a flight combat game, DoDonPachi DaiOuJou in general schmups are niche.
Gaming Off The Grid, you are welcome ps2 it’s my favorite system. Two more that no one talks: Colosseum a gladiator simulator more tactical than shadow of Rome (a must if you like gladiators). Shinobido ninja stealth game like Tenchu, you can create your own tracks and even play them in psp!
This video makes me feel old! I was born in 2001, recently dug up my PS2 and I already have a decent start! Currently I have: PS2 Slim, a Dualshock 2 controller, mem cards, then for games: Madden 04/05, NFS Underground 1/2 and Hot Pursuit 2, Crash Nitro Kart/Tag Team Racing, Burnout Dominator, Driver 3, Juiced 2, and Mortal Kombat Armageddon! I am probably gonna start collecting for this console as I have so many fond memories with it over the years. Unfortunately, many of my games were lost due to scratching :(
I think they need to redo the thumbnails imo, they too complicated and get overlooked. Simplify it a bit. And the studio needs to make them pop from the background to keep the attention of viewers and maybe some more visual examples.
Thanks for the input. We are always trying to find ways to improve. We have pretty good CTR on our thumbnails but we will look into it for sure. Cheers and thanks again for taking the time to make some suggestion.
I’ve been gaming since the Atari 2600 was new and I finally gave up on next gen systems last year. My PS2 slim is my system of choice now. It’s the huge library and ease of use. It’s how gaming has been most of my life and how it should be. No mandatory installs, downloads, updates, required internet connections, dropouts, dlc, or hard drives. Just pop in a disc and play. I don’t care about realistic graphics or Hollywood actors in dramatic games. The PS2 has tons of great games that are just plain fun for cheap and multiplayer is much better with a person next to you. No contest. Older systems are far better for me at this point in my life.
This comment is spot on. We have a video about things that annoy us about modern gaming and you hit the nail right on the head here. Thanks for watching and cheers to keeping it retro!
I recently sold my ENTIRE ps2 library - I decided to soft mod it instead, convert it digitally and add more games. Best decision I’ve made! Awesome console
I had a ps2. Dogs stepped on the controller wire while I was playing and that ps2 went YEET. So 2 years later I finally found another for decent price and fired that bad boy up. Ahhh I missed it so much
Glad you were able to track another one down :)! The PS2 is awesome. We play it all the time still to this day. Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the PS2!
I was born in 96, 2 years after the ps1 was released, I was raised in Mexico and did not have money to buy a ps2, so when the ps2 came out I got the ps1. And to be honest I’m so glad I was able to play the ps1. It was amazing, and after migrating to the USA I was able to get the ps2 and it did not let me down. good memories :)
Its tricky to know whether the fat or slim is better. Because other analysts say the fat is preferable to the slim. The problem with the slim is the ribbon and that it overheats. Mines died completely after an intermittent use of 12 years. But I just need to change the ribbon and laser. For now I found a 14 dollar original fat that looks and works as new so far. Thankfully, the ps2 can be a blessing .
We usually talk from first hand experience and we have both had a rough road with the FAT boy lol. Our slims are still rocking and rolling. We could just have odd luck as well. Thanks a ton for watching man. Stay safe out there. Cheers!
My personal favorite console. There are still so many games I dont know about. I've spent more money on getting my PS2 to an HDMI tv than most gamers spend on their PS2 collection.
It's definitely a great console and a console you could play for a life time and not run out of games. It's hands down in high consideration for the greatest console of all-time.
I remember getting the ps2 slim for christmas the year it came out. Time travel to today and i still own a slim PS2 and im collecting heavy for it. All dingers as you guys would say.
We've heard this from a few people. But seriously we have picked up so many fats that don't work and usually when we find a slim it works perfect. We love the look of the fat way more so wish our luck was different. Thanks for watching man and cheers! PS....You'd be proud man, got P90X at a garage sale yesterday for $1 sold today for $50. Straight up CM Retro shit right there :)
You guys are so fun to listen to, I’ve been looking to get a ps2 recently to play old Tom Clancy, Tony hawk, and racing games the ps2 slim looks beast! I can’t wait to start playing, I grew up on the n64, GameCube and Xbox but I’m really stoked to finally play through some new classic experiences
Thanks man! We're a relatively new channel so that's always good to hear that type of feedback. Dude, PS2 and OG XBox are prime for collecting right now along with the following generation. Very good games and hardware still on the cheap. Good luck with your game hunting endeavors. Cheers!
Just found yalls channel because of Pixel Game Squad, didn't realize it turned 20 last year lol I started collecting for it and didn't even know. I guess it was just meant to be XD
YESSSS! Barn Town! So glad you guys were able to try some! Watch for the next time they release a new barrel aged stout. Their stouts usually stand out as my favorites!
Hell ya! They are dialed in for sure. We have a few more Barntown reviews on the way. Just had the Triple Scoop Stout and holy smokes it was good. Thanks for the suggestion! Cheers!
PS2 'Fat' 5000x models are very reliable. I have had mine for 17 years without one issue and I play it every other day. The 3000x models were the ones that had reliability issues.
I own both the original and slim. Fortunately, my original still works. By the way, nice Ultimate Warrior shirt. I met Dana Warrior Aug. 2018, I almost cried when I told her; her husband was my hero growing up. Then she gave me a big hug and we had our picture taken together. Very nice lady.
I’m getting a PS2 today! And it’s a slim, so that’s definitely exciting. Also, at 2:22 in this video, you showed the console bundle with 7 games and that’s the one I ordered. I can’t believe on the same day I get the Last of Us: Part II PS4 Pro bundle, I also get my own PS2!
Total flashback!, I remember having the entire set up where each person could with there own tv screen linked together instead of sharing the same screen. One of the games you forgot to mention which was my all time favorites is TWISTED METAL. YES, i I still have my PS2 and extras to make multi play happen.
Love the Twisted Metal series. We have Black and Head On. Side note, we've been replaying the Twisted Metal on PS3 lately.........dude holy hell. It's so damn cool. Cheers to the PS2!
PS2 is definitely a really good starting point for a game collection. Last year actually i went past 100 games, picking those cheap sports games, cheap games all around. Apart from a few i never paid more than 9,99 for a game. As far as console goes, yeah the Slim is more reliable but the Phat is where its at if you really want to mod the hell out of the console, slap a hard drive onto a network adapter and you can install your entire game collection on there and not have to worry about wearing out the optical drive and have faster load times
Definitely a great console to collect for right now. We have heard a ton of folks say they've had problems with the slims but thus far we have been super lucky. We have a Fat model too though. We probably need to slap a hard drive into it at some point for sure. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
boy am I glad the UA-cam algorithm recommended your channel to me because your content is phenomenal and I really enjoy y'all's chemistry and your videos are great keep up the good work! instantly subscribed!
I love how cheap PS2 collecting is. And so many great games, I'm trying to make am effort to play more games on it this year. And you guys didn't even mention Destroy All Humans! That beer sounds delicious!
It's great to collect for right now. We should have mentioned it but don't go from a list. We just go on the fly and sometimes we forget lol. And the beer! Wow. Such a unique brew and very tasty. Cheers!
It’s more than midway through 2021 and this video still holds up today. My son and I recently bought a PS2 for 75.00. It came with 2 controllers, 4 memory cards,25 games (someone were sports titles), but the coolest thing in the lot was a Blockbuster pelican case (these were used when you would rent a PS2 from Blockbuster). We then went to our local retro game store, and purchased another 10 games for just over 50.00!!! This is still just the start of our PS2 collection….
I think the kids who played it growing up finally have some disposable income and that's probably why. There is still some great cheap games though for it!
I helped my friend move the other day and he had a PS2 laying around and just gave it to me, no games no cords no controller no memory cards but hell i'm still stoked, ill be on the hunt in the next few weeks :D thanks for the video so damn nostalgic. I haven't had one of these in like 15 years
That's awesome man! You should be able to pick all that stuff up on the cheap. Such an awesome library of games and many of them still cheap as hell. We play our PS2 a ton still to this day. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid definitely looking forward to it! Have you guys ever played turok: evolution? Oh man me and my cousin could go all day back in the day!
Oh yes! Own it. Would love to get some modern entries in the Turok and Dino Crisis series. Not sure when fighting dinosaurs became not cool but we sure as hell still think it's badass
PlayStation 2's have definitely gone up. I just paid around 200 dollars for a (renewed) ps2, which probably means someone cleaned the lens and blew the dust out, from a retro gaming site, came with 1 controller and 2 games. It would have been cheaper if I didn’t add the games, but it was simpsons road rage and GTA 3. Also that brewery is 4 hours from my house
When me and my brother were kids, we had a PS2 but it had the disc read error (fam couldn't afford to fix it at the time) but could still play PS1 games for some reason but also played it at a friend's house and played Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and Zone of the Enders. I didn't get my own PS2 until later in the 00s when I was in high school and played some racing games (my go to genre at the time) Gran Turismo 4, Burnout 3: Takedown, and Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix. I now have rediscovered it in recent years and rebought a fat PS2 from a local retro game shop in my town and got AirForce Delta Strike, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Never Ending Tomorrow, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, SMT: Nocturne, Persona 3: FES, Ace Combat: Shattered Skies, Katamari Damacy, and Stretch Panic. I discovered Ape Escape 3 through emulation and loved it so much that I plan to get a physical copy of it sometime soon. I love this console as it's one of my all time favorites and my other go to in that generation besides the GameCube.
yeah we know some other people thst encounter that area. something with the scanner that reads the disc. thats a great list of games. racing games were on fire in that generation.
Yes!! I was worried James Bond wasn't going to get a mention, nice one for remembering the old dog ;) Great episode, the PS2 is an absolutely superb console. that was my entry into retro game collecting, I couldn't believe how many phenomenal games I could pick up for absolute pennies!! Take it easy brothers and stay safe ;)
i bought my ps2 for 100 bucks and i got 2 controllers, 16 mb of space plus some original ps1 memory cards, and a extra controller 100% recommend for anyone looking for a great time
Owned mine ps2 since 01 and bought mine at Costco that came with Burnout and Black n Bruised and really started to enjoy it more than the Xbox at the time and in 03 I modded my ps2 to play PAL ps2 games too when I took it with me to Iran at the time. Over the years been playing and collecting a whole lot of ps2 games and now I have over 250+ ps2 games and there are some I really like to get but they over $70+ of hidden gem ps2 games.
I still have my 2 slims (SCPH-70012 from 2004 and SCPH-79001 from 2007 as a backup) and both are functioning perfectly. It will always be one of my favorite gaming devices ever because it's a spectacular system where you just get the games you wish to play and begin playing them without having to download updates, pay for microtransactions, etc.
Awesome! It's a great time to collect for the PS2. Prices have started to rise a bit this year but still lots of low hanging fruit. Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
I grew up with a PS1 as a young kid before switching to Xbox and Xbox 360 for the 6th and 7th generation so I missed out on the PS2 and I'm only now starting to discover the great games that it has. Except for a few of the RPG's, the games are dirt cheap here in the UK too.
I have a Phat that has a malfunctioning disc drive, but with OPL and an internal HDD hooked up with a Network adapter it plays games great! I recently picked up a slim as well to play my actual discs, and collecting for the PS1 and PS2 has been a blast. I highly recommend it to people looking for a new console to get into!
That's awesome! For sure. A lot of folks feel like the barrier of entry is too high for collecting. But for the PS2......NOW is the time. It's such a fun time to be a PS2 fan. Garage sales, yard sales and thrift stores are all ripe :). Cheers to the PS2!
There are tons of great games for it man. Such a great console. If we could only keep one console in our collection it would be very high on the list. Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the PS2
By the time I was born, the 6th Generation of Gaming was about to start (which is ironic seeing how its still my all-time favorite video game generation to this day) and the PS2 was definitely a big part of my gaming childhood next to the original PSone and Super NES. Thanks to both of my brothers, I was introduced to a lot of great games and genres within the gaming world. There were so many great games and great memories that I had with that console alone and I'm happy that I recently started to replay mine and buy more games for it.
Ya it was huge during this era for sure. We talked a bit about GT on our recent "If there was a PS2 Mini" episode. So we tried shedding some light on other games in this one. Cheers to the PS2!!! Hard to believe it's almost 20. Yikes!
We have an old Silver PS2 as well in my garage. It has had the hell beat out of it and still works like a charm :). Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
I got my PS2 when Game Stop was getting rid of them to make room for newer stuff and dumping the games in bargain bins for two and three dollars apiece. Over the course of several trips, I ended up with over fifty games and I still haven't tried all of them. One of my favorites though is Midway Arcade Treasures 3. I'm a big fan of arcade racing games and that compilation gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
Dude funny you mention that game :)! We have an episode about arcade collections on the PS2 coming out soon. We just picked that game up and it kicks ass! Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the PS2!
I got the fat ps2 back when it was still in circulation for Christmas, and got the eye toy and spyro for it... It was not a great start, but I still had fun! Love me some DDR and gutair hero! Playing Dark Cloud on the slim right now.
We really need to play Dark Cloud. We have heard so many good things about that game and just haven't ever got around to it. Love us some good ol' Guitar Hero :). Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
A buddy and I waited in line and finally picked up our long awaited copies of GTA III on its launch day and first time playing it with all the hype and excitement was so EPIC, what a game at the time and such good memories. Still playing (my second) PS2 and exploring missed gems (even with having a decent sized library). CHEERS!
I have played ALOT of PS2 games...BUT...I have still barely scratched the surface of that library and I REALLY want to, but right now the GameCube is my focus. Eventually I may start to focus more on the PS2 though for sure. Great video guys!
Very cool! eBay is probably your best bet. Not sure where you are located but we see them on Facebook market place and yard sales quite a bit as well. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
just found a great ps2 deal so i finally added it to the collection , 20$ ps2 slim silver at a pawn shop , needs some cleaning and didnt have a controller but cant beat it at that price
Well thanks man! Really appreciate it. You Tube is a mystery lol. We just keep grinding away and letting the chips fall. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Great video as always guys, for people who dont know. A FMCB memory card can be bought for cheap, allowing for homebrew emulation and the ability to play backups.
Very nice! We haven't gotten much into modding. We've hacked our mini consoles and our Wii but that's it so far. Probably going to do the Dreamcast next. Thanks for watching man. Cheers!
Great guide, prices have skyrocketed in the past year along with every other game console thanks to current world events though. One note about the multitap: You need to be sure you choose the correct model, as ones intended for fat systems will not fit slim units and vice versa.
yeah that is very true about the multi tap. always wanto to do your due diligence especially with playstation products. yeah the market in gaming is definitely rising cheers 🍻
I actually really liked the action RPGs on the PS2, and I don’t think people talk enough about them: Champions Of Norrath & Champions Return to Arms, Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance 1&2, Fallout Brotherhood of Steel, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, X-Men Legends 1&2, Radiata Stories, and Shining Force Neo (the last two are single player games, but the rest are all great coop games). Then some random games I really like are Rumble Racing, Sky Odyssey, and the Red Star
We have played a few of those (Dark Alliance, Gauntlet and X-Men). Thanks for the other suggestions :). Always looking to beef up our PS2 collection. Cheers!
Fat console also supports hard drives (if you buy the network adapter) which then supports software modding your console to run games from hard drive and bypassing the arbitrary region locks... so yeah, hard drive modded fat PS2 can, mostly, run games of all regions from a disc image file. Some games will not work but most run actually better with the reduced load times of a hard drive compared to CD/DVD-drive.
Totally forgot about the multitap, I need to get that for the time when folks get back together in person again!. In my area finding PS2 games in the wild is still somewhat easy. I like that the prices are still not really outlandish for games, unless you want certain jRPGs. I had a friend that had the complete North American game collection and standing in front of that wall.... WOW!! sooooooo many games for this systems!
One thing about the slim is that it has a autosave issue with Jak X and is particular with what third party ps1 memory cards it will recognize. Gud vid and channel. 🙂
Still have my original PS2 from 2001. Wow! What a great year for video games (Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 2, Zone of The Enders, Grand Theft Auto 3, and Silent Hill just to name a few). Just finished up backing up my PS2 games on my newly installed 500 gig drive on my PS2.
Hell ya it was. The fall of '02 was off the chain too. I think that's when Vice City came out and many other dingers. Would love to back our games up at some point just to reduce the miles on the discs. Very cool that you got that done. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid much luck to you guys. I love watching your content. Your love of retro gaming shines through. PS2 games just took off after launch. I know most of my comments concern hacking these retro consoles. I had to do it out of necessity. About 7 years ago, I was unemployed and my unemployment insurance was out. I had no choice but to sell my Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Genesis, Dreamcast, and N64 along with all their games. A little bit later on I sold most of my PS2 collection and I lost the storage unit that had all my PS3 games and Blu-ray movies. As of today, I finally thanks to my system hacking have all my games back. It's a hard thing to get rid of my physical games but it was necessary for survival. Sorry for the long rant. Keep hold of your stuff as long as you can but you might want to make back ups to save your games and game systems just in case. God bless you both and keep on gaming. 🍻
@@GamingOffTheGrid Thank you for the reply! Yall's channel is great, I will search for that video. Keep up the awesome content! The only video games I could ever bond with my dad over growing up were light gun games and I'm glad to have finally found a channel that talks about them!
The PS2 was the first system I ever got after begging my uber health-conscious parents for years! I finally got one in 2006 and the rule was 30 minutes on, 45 minutes on the trampoline. I must’ve sunken 400+ hours in the Ratchet and Sly games. Amazing system.
Got around 400 ps2 games lined up on an original Blockbuster display, kickin' it old-school. Anyway, did a pot tweak on a Wii while watching this. I have half a growler of Fuzz Tail from sunriver brewing in the fridge but I took a break from it tonight to have a homemade glad of egg nog. Happy to have your backlog in my recommended now.
Final Fantasy X made me buy a PS2. Fell in love with Zanarkand. Now go to Distant Worlds every year without fail and teach classical music. Sony and Square Enix, thank you! Also, great video guys, loved it.
We'll have to check it out. I fell off the RPG wagon after FF 7. Been wanting to dive into another at some point......so that might be it :). Thanks for watching and Cheers to the PS2!
Agreed that the PS2 is a great place to start a gaming collection. I still have both my original fat and slim systems and *knock on wood* they're still chugging along and I adore them both! On the peripheral side--I always advise to be careful with third party memory cards. Could've just been my luck, but I lost saves with them so often. I got to where I would ONLY use them as backups--like, I've beat this game, probably won't return to this save file, but don't want to delete it either sort of backup. Also, Logitech put out a pretty good wireless PS2 controller that I always enjoyed too. Aw yeah--the anthology and collection entries were so good; loved picking those up. The PS2 DID have any kind of game you'd want; want to be a mosquito going after some poor girl in a bathtub? Boom--Mister Mosquito. Really selling us on the beer--the notation of how well it matches the can description speaks volumes to me as I've had many brews that I look back at the container with a questionable eyebrow raised. You probably know by my recommendation to Cap that I always push the Maximo games! Beyond Good & Evil was so good and we're FINALLY (hopefully still) getting a sequel! Lady Laci played through the Harry Potter games released on PS2 and loved them. Okage is a very interesting RPG--it's hard to recommend, but it's a very curious one. Odin Sphere is fantastic--I think i even got a rerelease or two. Rygar is like a poor-man's God of War. Ultimate Spider-Man--loved that one!! I could keep going but this comment is already ridiculous...
:( Yes logitech makes great controllers but for some reason ours no longer syncs. Loved that thing. Such a deep catalog. We need to get the Spiderman game and many others still. Been playing a ton of PS2 lately and loving it. Cheers to the PS2!
I subscribed because of the great video, but mostly because watching you guys drink and talk about nostalgia ps2 stuff while I drink as well! 😆 I bought a ps2 a few months ago and now own 30+ of my favorites. I feel like ps2 is epic compared to 2022. I hate downloading stuff now, updates, dlc, and other things. Its nice to pop a game In and be there. They really don't make as many games as they used to in the early 2000s. The playstation 1 classic was pathetic. Yes, you can mod it, but the older I get the less I want to mod something to make it better.
Black was one of my favorite first person shooters on the system. I was really hoping they came out with a second one but never did. There are mechanics in that game that you see in a lot of modern FPS today. Drakengard is I game I never really hear about. I really enjoyed that game, solid story, Dynasty Warrior type fighting, and fun flying missions on top of a dragon. There was a second one on the ps2 and a third on the PS3, I never played those but I would recommend the first one. The game is kind of rising in price but if you find it cheap enough it’s definitely worth checking out. Another game I used to play a lot was Sega Bass fishing Duel, I know what you’re thinking “a fishing game?” But it’s actually a lot of fun. Get together with a buddy and try to outfish each other, you can drive around in your boat(I recommend smashing into each other a little), and try out different spots to catch the biggest bass. It’s a fun relaxing game by yourself and can get very competitive playing against someone else.
Black is awesome for sure. My only gripe about that game is I wish it would have have a multiplayer piece. It would have been epic. But regardless, it's one of the best FPS on the PS2 for sure. Thanks a ton for watching and the game suggestions. Cheers!
Hey guys! I recently purchased a PS2 and couple controllers for $10. Around me you can find them for $25-$35. Because I saved so much on the console I went crazy and got some really nice titles! Well worth the $100 I spent on everything 👍
Frequency is a great rhythm game that came out before guitar hero and uses the controller, it’s awesome. Also the suffering is a great shooter/survival horror type game. The only problems I have had out of the console is some won’t play the blue colored disk, but most work flawlessly.
That is a good one. We actually just found a complete set of that recently. It's an awesome game. Best of luck tracking one down. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
any tips on where to buy them online? currently looking into getting a ps2 and noticed amazon refurbishes them. Any suggestions to avoid buying a console that doesn't work/ have longevity?
Love that story. They were so damn hard to find when they first came out. I remember my friend getting one and freaking out I was so excited. And it wasn't even mine lol
It would go along way for sure. You don't collect much for it do you? I don't recall you talking about it too often. Thanks for watching man and hope you are doing well.
Dang that sucks. We've had the exact opposite experience. Tons of FATs over the years that are no longer with us but still rockin the slims we had as kids. Either way cheers to the PS2!
Where did you get that PlayStation hat? I want one! I used to play PS2 in my teenage years. Where's the love for SSX3 and Bully? Great video, you just got another subscriber. Trying to decide between a PS2 slim or PS3 slim for my birthday.
Dang man. I just looked all over google and couldn't find it. I originally got it like a year ago on clearance at Game Stop. I'll keep my eyes peeled and hit you up if I find one. We love the SSX series. We have talked about it quite a bit in other episodes. Bully is great too. I thing we have the game on 360. Thanks a ton for watching and subscribing. It's a rough road out here for small channels. We really appreciate the support. Cheers!
We both have the SCPH-70012 and they have been kicking it hard for 15+ years. The one in the game room currently I had as a kid and was on the road with our band for 8 years. Left in the van year after years, summer, winter, summer, winter. And it still works great. Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
I'd recommend the 7900x series, lower power consumption than prior slims plus is immune to the disc scratching issue that other slim models are starting to develop now.
Off topic. I worked at St Albans magistrates court, uk as a court security officer. Jake the snake, was convicted of animal cruelty, to his snake. It was half starved and full of mites. Sorry just had to say, being an animal lover. Ps love you two, great channel x
I have a original phat Sony PlayStation 2 scph 300001 I bought mine from a garage sale for $10.00 it came with 2 original equipment manufactured memory cards I have 2 dual shock and 2 dual shock 2 ocean blue controllers I cleaned fixed inspected refurbished repaired restored and sanitized my original PlayStation 2 and it works excellent
Dude to be honest neither of us have went down that road. We know we need to but just haven't got around to it. I've been picking them up lately though :). Thanks for watching. Cheers!
The guys talking about the unreliability of the PS2 Phat and keeping one going reminds me of that time in my life when I was playing FFXI and could not afford an Xbox 360 or PC, so I had to keep my PS2 Phat going to keep doing endgame content and...yeah... Keeping a PS2 Phat alive when it wants to die was rough. Like "I had to borrow a friend's phat PS2 to install ToAU because my optical drive stopped working" rough.
LOL! The struggle was and is real. So many of us from that era have fought similar battles. The 360 was a nightmare to keep going too. Especially that first model. What a total piece of shit lol. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
What's your favorite PS2 game that no one ever talks about? Tell us in the comments below!
Bujingai. Very fun hack and slash. Another good one is chaos legion
Blood will tell, amazing adaptation of Dororo’s manga, Rygar precursor of God of War, Skygunner a flight combat game, DoDonPachi DaiOuJou in general schmups are niche.
We'll have to look into those :). Thanks for sharing!
We have Rygar. But these other ones we'll have to look into. We have a DoDonPachi game on the 360 that is great. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Great time to collect for it man. Lots of low hanging fruit out there. Cheers to the PS2!
You guys should have WAY more subscribers! I think it’s only a matter of time. Great content as always! Keep safe in these uncertain times
Thanks man! We're working our tails off that's for sure. We'll see what happens. Thanks for believing in us and the support. It means a lot. Cheers!

This comment is spot on. We have a video about things that annoy us about modern gaming and you hit the nail right on the head here. Thanks for watching and cheers to keeping it retro!
Hello. I'm sorry may I ask? Where do you buy ps2 games
@@AA-xp4gb some people buy them online but they have some retro stores you might be able to find
Yes, modern gaming consoles are too complex. I’m sticking with my PS Vita and PS3.
I recently sold my ENTIRE ps2 library - I decided to soft mod it instead, convert it digitally and add more games. Best decision I’ve made! Awesome console
That's awesome man! PS2 is great indeed. We still play the hell out of ours. Cheers to the PS2!
@Craig,
So you Sky-Netted all your Ps2 games ??
Modchip is better , because run all games, softmod not all games works perfectly
Should've just had both
Has the reget set in yet?
Same boat man :). We both were always a console behind growing up. But that meant we could get more games. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Cheers!
I had my ps2 since 2007 and it still works to this day
Such a great console. Hard to believe it turns 20 years old this year! Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the PS2!
I got one last one and as soon as that screen loaded up i was so happy. It bought back memories.
Ahhhh yes, that opening screen sound! So nostalgic. Definitely one of our favs. Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
Your enthusiasm for the PS2 is so contagious! My goodness!
lots of nostalgia and its a great console with tons of heavy hitters. one of the besr consoles ever cheers
All dingers as you guys would say.
im in the same boat as you. its definitely a good system to collect for. thanks for watching cheers 🍻
I had the opposite experience. I use my PS2 fat they I bought in 2001 to this day. I've had a lot of slims that won't read discs.
I guess it was just meant to be XD
great system to collect for. thanks for checking us out cheers
@@GamingOffTheGrid was this just now or is my phone catching up from a year ago? 😆
YESSSS!
Cheers!
I dont know if i ever told you? I love the PS2 !
Such an awesome console. Love this whole generation actually :). Thanks for watching man and hope all is well. Cheers!
PS2 'Fat' 5000x models are very reliable. I have had mine for 17 years without one issue and I play it every other day. The 3000x models were the ones that had reliability issues.
Those must have been the ones we had because we went through a ton of those things lol. Love the PS2! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
i started to collect rare ps2 games last year and i have dumped hundreds into silent hill and fatal frame and dragon ball
There are definitely some expensive titles on the console for sure. A lot of low hanging fruit too. Cheers to the PS2!
You need to get Killer 7, best rail shooter there and the Time Crisis series too
I own both the original and slim. Fortunately, my original still works. By the way, nice Ultimate Warrior shirt. I met Dana Warrior Aug. 2018, I almost cried when I told her; her husband was my hero growing up. Then she gave me a big hug and we had our picture taken together. Very nice lady.
Thats so awesome! Have so much love for the Warrior also! 🍻
That's awesome man! The PS2 rocks! Looking forward to getting off work and picking up Last of Us 2 :). Can't wait. Cheers!
Hell ya man! Glad you found us. You Tube is a rough road for us smaller channels. Thanks a ton for the support. Much appreciated. Cheers!
Cheers!
it's not cheap anymore.
fuck resellers
It’s more than midway through 2021 and this video still holds up today. My son and I recently bought a PS2 for 75.00. It came with 2 controllers, 4 memory cards,25 games (someone were sports titles), but the coolest thing in the lot was a Blockbuster pelican case (these were used when you would rent a PS2 from Blockbuster). We then went to our local retro game store, and purchased another 10 games for just over 50.00!!! This is still just the start of our PS2 collection….
Nice finds man! PS2 is epic and so fun to collect for right now. Cheers to the PS2!
Ps2 prices have literally skyrocketed over the last year.. what a time to be alive
I think the kids who played it growing up finally have some disposable income and that's probably why. There is still some great cheap games though for it!
Awesome videogames, delicious beer and good camera work. I think I found my new favorite channel!
Awesome! Glad you found us man. We really appreciate your support. Cheers!
Yes!! I was worried James Bond wasn't going to get a mention, nice one for remembering the old dog ;)
Great episode, the PS2 is an absolutely superb console. that was my entry into retro game collecting, I couldn't believe how many phenomenal games I could pick up for absolute pennies!!
Take it easy brothers and stay safe ;)
It's an epic console for sure and as it approaches the 20 year mark we are gonna celebrate the hell out of it :). Cheer man!
i bought my ps2 for 100 bucks and i got 2 controllers, 16 mb of space plus some original ps1 memory cards, and a extra controller 100% recommend for anyone looking for a great time
Awesome! Such a great library of games and many of them are still rather affordable. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Where did you buy cause I wanna get oneeee
Owned mine ps2 since 01 and bought mine at Costco that came with Burnout and Black n Bruised and really started to enjoy it more than the Xbox at the time and in 03 I modded my ps2 to play PAL ps2 games too when I took it with me to Iran at the time. Over the years been playing and collecting a whole lot of ps2 games and now I have over 250+ ps2 games and there are some I really like to get but they over $70+ of hidden gem ps2 games.
We LOVE the PS2 and the library is insane for it! We keep discovering new games in 2021
@@GamingOffTheGrid to this day I still am like samurai warriors, killer 7, and bloodrayne
also my fav ps2 game is Marc Eckos Getting Up. Underrated game.
We haven't played that one. Gonna have to check it out. Cheers!
Nice video! I just got a ps2 at the beginning of this year, and I’ve been enjoying it!
Definitely a great time to revisit it. Tons of great games and a lot of sleepers as well. Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
SkyblueRob88. What The difference between A X box and X box 360 Can you explain that to me.
Easily my most memorable games were Lord of the Rings Two Towers and Medal of Honor Frontline. Such amazing games.
Haven't played through those yet but have always heard good things. Gonna have to keep our eye out for those. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Just ordered a PS2 so I can play LOTR on it! Can’t wait for the nostalgia!! Brilliant game
I got a ps2 a few years ago and hadn't started picking up games until about a month ago. But finding some great ones!
It was an awesome era for sure. So much creativity from developers and so many great games. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
You guys kinda missed the racing genre! Gran Turismo a spec, need for speed, etc. Great video! Love the PS2!!
Ya it was huge during this era for sure. We talked a bit about GT on our recent "If there was a PS2 Mini" episode. So we tried shedding some light on other games in this one. Cheers to the PS2!!! Hard to believe it's almost 20. Yikes!
Yes 🙌 I Have a PS2 Slim it Color Sliver I Been Having Mine's For 2 years. and Works Great. and I Have a memory card too. and Great Games to play.
We have an old Silver PS2 as well in my garage. It has had the hell beat out of it and still works like a charm :). Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
@@GamingOffTheGrid WOW!!!!
CHEERS!
yeah gta was on fire then. there is lots of gems on the ps2. glad your enjoying cheers
First 20k viewed video. Congrats guys. Well deserved.
thanks bro. we couldnt do it without the support of the community cheers
I have played ALOT of PS2 games...BUT...I have still barely scratched the surface of that library and I REALLY want to, but right now the GameCube is my focus. Eventually I may start to focus more on the PS2 though for sure. Great video guys!
It's a fun one to collect for and relatively cheap still. Tons of great game still in that $5-$8 range.
Gamecube games were pretty addicting for me because it had the titles that I actually wanted to play and try to beat.
hey i’ve recently stumbled upon my dad’s collection of about 100 ps2 games and I really want to play but can’t find a ps2 online anywhere any tips?
Very cool! eBay is probably your best bet. Not sure where you are located but we see them on Facebook market place and yard sales quite a bit as well. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
just found a great ps2 deal so i finally added it to the collection , 20$ ps2 slim silver at a pawn shop , needs some cleaning and didnt have a controller but cant beat it at that price
yeah thats a very good deal you cant beat that. enjoy it cheers
Love this channel can't believe how little subscriber's you have. The quality and editing is top notch it's like watching a metal jesus video
Now that would be illegal sir (as we play our hacked Wii.) LOL. Thanks for watching. Cheers to the PS2!
@@GamingOffTheGrid If you really want that the Fat one is the right choice for the ability to install hdd and play backups thru FreeMcboot
I’m glad y’all spoke on getting the slim because I was READY to get the bigger one
Got my phat ps2 launch day in the UK and i have it Modded with a 2tb hard drive right next to me with a wireless controller adapter, wonderful console
In my ps2 am having problem with finishing king Arthur ,it hangs when it reaches a particular Level
😨 😱 You Mean King Arthur Tomb on Tomb Raider legend?
I've never played that game so i'm sorry I can't help you! But cheers to the PS2!
Cheers!
I wish we could get the multiplayer for those games up and running again, can you imagine? 😄😄😄
ESPN NFL 2K5 was THE greatest football game I ever played. I miss it every time I get suckered into playing the newest madden.
I've been on the Madden tournament scene for about 10 years. The game has been broke for a very long time. It's sad.
WOW!! sooooooo many games for this systems!
yeah ps2 is definitely still in the wild. especially thrift stores. garage sales are starting to shrink some but its out there
One thing about the slim is that it has a autosave issue with Jak X and is particular with what third party ps1 memory cards it will recognize.
Gud vid and channel. 🙂
Interesting. Thanks for the info and for checking out the channel. Cheers!
I still have my first PS2 and it's the fat version and it still works properly and I got it in 2009
That is amazing! I wish we could say the same but sadly the fat versions crapped out on us. Still have my original slim though!
I remember playing kingdom hearts on the ps2 fat when I was 6 years old so nostalgic to think about it
Hell ya! Badass game. Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
Yes, best PS2 Multi-tap games would be an awesome video
We kinda did that in our Multi-Tap video but not necessarily a top 5. We may have to do that :). Cheers!
So you must have spent a lot of time on the trampoline too lol! That's awesome. Parents are funny :). Thanks for watching! Cheers!
I agree 100% about tiger woods and the arcade compilations
Cheers to that! It's so weird how much we love the Tiger games but you can just chill and have a blast playing that game. Thanks a ton for watching!
Very cool! That display sounds badass man. Gotta love Egg Nog. I always feel like shit when I drink it but it's too good to stop lol. Cheers!
Awesome video guys! I see bright things in your future. Stick with it!
Thanks man! Appreciate you watching and your kind words. Cheers!
This turned into a beer buying guide, what the hell🤣🤣
Final Fantasy X made me buy a PS2. Fell in love with Zanarkand. Now go to Distant Worlds every year without fail and teach classical music. Sony and Square Enix, thank you! Also, great video guys, loved it.
We'll have to check it out. I fell off the RPG wagon after FF 7. Been wanting to dive into another at some point......so that might be it :). Thanks for watching and Cheers to the PS2!
Gaming Off The Grid honestly love the channel. Really good vids and really interesting. And definitely Final Fantasy X is a classic
Totally agree! Thats why we say gen 6 is the peak of gaming! Such amazing times! Glad you subscribed! Appreciate it very much! Cheers!
We've seen the same type of things around us. It's really low hanging fruit right now and a great console to collect for. Cheers to the PS2!
@Erik where can be ordered??
Good thing Des Moines is literally down the road of me, gonna have to get some drinks. And happy 20 years of PS2!
We definitely should. Once all this crap blows over we should hit the Up Down or something. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Would be fantastic mates! Hope this stuff ends soon, just sad to say the least for how this has affected our world.
@@TheDeadman14 Woo go Iowa! Haha
@@IowaRetroGamerDad Good to see more Iowa gamers out there!
Hey where can i get the godfather game for ps2
Try the internet. eBay most likely. Or hit us a local game store. Cheers!
Awesome! I just started picking up some PS2 games and I got some good recommendations for games and hardware here. Thanks GOTG!!!
Awesome man! The PS2 has such a great library. You'll enjoy collecting for it for sure. Cheers!
Frequency is a great rhythm game that came out before guitar hero and uses the controller, it’s awesome. Also the suffering is a great shooter/survival horror type game. The only problems I have had out of the console is some won’t play the blue colored disk, but most work flawlessly.
yeah there was some scanning errors in the system on some models. yeah we played frequency its a good game
One PS2 Game I really wanna get is Guitar Hero 3 Legends Of Rock! I know i would have to buy the guitar seperately but that game was awesome!
Well anymore that's a risk you have to take unless you buy from someone you know! Online its basically ebay unfortunately! Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid sounds like I’ll be stuck with trusting Amazon then lol
Yes PS2 is one of my top Consoles. Again, it's the only one that I waited inline on release night to get.
Love that story. They were so damn hard to find when they first came out. I remember my friend getting one and freaking out I was so excited. And it wasn't even mine lol
I love the PS2 , nice review
Can't believe it turns frickin 20 this year. INSANE! We are big PS2 fans for sure.
@@GamingOffTheGrid Have you played Red Ninja , i just got it last month , its not too bad.
We have not. We'll be on the look out once we start hunting again. Thanks for the recommendation!
Another PS2 sports game that's a hidden gem is NBA Ballers, super fun
We just picked up both versions on Xbox recently :). Haven’t tried them out yet though. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Dang...now I wanna go blow $100 on PS2 stuff hahaha
It would go along way for sure. You don't collect much for it do you? I don't recall you talking about it too often. Thanks for watching man and hope you are doing well.
Awesome video 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
I’ve gone thru like 4 slims lmao, the disc laser gives out super easy
Cheers!
Which slim? Scph 70001,77001,79001 7700 70012, etc...
I was born in 06', so my brothers gave me a hand-me down PS2
That's a hell of a nice hand me down. So many good games on the cheap right now
Off topic. I worked at St Albans magistrates court, uk as a court security officer. Jake the snake, was convicted of animal cruelty, to his snake. It was half starved and full of mites. Sorry just had to say, being an animal lover. Ps love you two, great channel x
Very interesting nugget of info here. Thanks for sharing man. Love hearing behind the curtain type of stories from the wrestling world. Cheers!
Hey guys! Great video! I am super interested in getting a ps2 as I grew up on it. Where would you recommend looking for one?
They are pretty plentiful on the yard sale/ Garage Sale scene. Other than that eBay is your best bet. Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the PS2!
I was 14 when my mum got me my first original PlayStation 1 and it was incredible for its time. Ps1 and ps2 are the best consoles of all time
They were both game changers for sure. Still great all these years later. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
As a huge PS2 fan i cant believe you didnt mention DMC
Dude to be honest neither of us have went down that road. We know we need to but just haven't got around to it. I've been picking them up lately though :). Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid just disregard 2 if ya do play em, its the blackest of black sheep
Cheers!
PS2 is where and when Disgaea was born..
Frickin love the PS2! So many good games.
Can't forget Drakengard
Can you do a Metal Slug Anthology PS2 video, next?
I've heard of it, but I never played it.
We might stream it at some point. We don't have a ton of experience w/ the series. We will cover some how some way at some point. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid okay. Cheers, guys!
