Did your wing slips come from two turkey tail feathers or did you just take from the left and right side of one turkey tail feather? Excellent series and great tying, Thanks for sharing.
i dont follow any particular rules just do what feels right to you but remember that if you look at vintage flies they have much slimmer wings than we tend to tie today most classic fly dressers will start out tying as big a wing as they possibly can and most will get smaller wings as they have been tying longer

in this instance they came from a centre tail but you can also use lefts and rights if the feathers come from the sides of a tail
