Great fly! Really like your tip on using hook to get equal wings. I love Muddler Minnows and will use this method 👍👍. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays!

Tie a wet fly or soft hackle and you will always get my vote... thanks.

Looks good, better than mine as usual, I just tied 3. I had to substitute the mallard slips a Turkey feather I found laying in the woods, mostly black with a touch of shimmer on the end.

Great tip on using a hook to measure the width of the wing. I always guessed and half the time I was off by just enough to mess up the proportions.

Hey Tim, I tape the the wing stems together using masking tape then I cut the slips and they always the same width.

Hare Ear Wet Fly is a is an incredible pattern. And it gets even better when you show in a relaxed way how to tie the fly properly. I wonder where do you recommend that I can buy the little brass tool you use to cut the tying thread? I am looking forward to your next show.

He put an edge on the bottom of his whip finish tool to cut the thread. That way, Tim does not have to switch tools.

    I'm struggling with fly tying
I always happen to cover the eye of the hook to much with thread wraps :( its frustrating and I loose interest :(
You guys on UA-cam make it look so fun and Easy

Hi Jeremy, Tim has already made a video on how to make nice neat heads here’s the link ua-cam.com/video/FhfgzziLThM/v-deo.html

Don't sweat it. Not crowding the eye is one of the hardest things to figure out! It comes with practice. And remember, any fly tying video you watch on here, the tier probably just tied a dozen of that pattern before getting it good enough to record the video. My first few of a new pattern often look shabby. :-)

Well everybody has trouble with that. one trick you can do is to start your thread where you want the body of the fly to end.

Keep going and guess what I have been trying for 20 years and sometimes I mess it up still!....make a reject jar.... but some day dont be surprised to find great flies in the darn thing!

@@chuckHart70 So I'm not the only one with a reject jar? Mine is actually a pizza sauce can. I tie plenty that end up in the pizza can. :-)
