    If you’re looking for game of thrones or lord of the rings thus isn’t it, but if you’re looking for something as fun as princess bride, labyrinth, time bandits or willow, this will be as good or better. It’s just a ton of FUN

    I agree. Was a solid movie that didn't take itself too seriously, but still had enough drama and gravitas to get you invested in the characters and plot.

    im afraid of the fact a lot of players are still boycotting this movie because of the OGL and 'marketing' missteps. I think its good enough to deserve a sequel but i have my doubts it will make enough money, at least in the theatres.

    • @ConstructedChaos
      @ConstructedChaos  Рік тому +1

      I can certainly echo those concerns and, while I understand why the boycott exists, this film feels like a weird place to apply pressure. I know personally how hard the film industry is being hit right now. The last thing we want is to send a message to production companies that these kinds of movies don’t work.
      But, I recognize that I do carry my own bias as an out-of-work filmmaker following the economic downturn and pandemic woes of the last few years. So, I could be wrong here.

      I can totally understand that take! I think a little more time could have been dedicated there but a film like this has a lot of heavy lifting to do in the first place and I think they managed screen time pretty well, all things considered.

    watching it this weekend. i heard its great and that bodes well for a sequel which i'd be up for. however, i don't think it will swing me back to dnd 5e, the ttrpg. i'm open though to supporting good dnd media/gaming content. loved the 5 questions speak with dead and intellect devourers jokes.
    yeah the star wars sequels sucked. i don't consider them canon in my head. imo what happened after the return of the jedi has to be have been done by filoni and favreau to be canon.

      as for star wars, have you check out the recent seasons of the bad batch and the mandalorian? there's an awesome cameo in Ep 5 of the mandalorian and it was an awesome episode in general. gave me avengers vibes.

      @@TheRobversion1 I haven't seen the new season of bad batch (it's not really my favorite of the Star Wars animated shows) but I DID see Zeb in Mando!! I was stoked!
      As for Kathleen.... her name might as well be Karen. I think she's a good executive but should not have any of the say so that she does in terms of the IP's creative direction. Her strength is logistics and, obviously, not much else.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 Рік тому +1

      @@ConstructedChaos yeah i was stoked to see Zeb live action! i do enjoy the bad batch though i'd say they could cut-down on the filler episodes and give it a more cohesive narrative thread instead of dragging out the plot points too long. i certainly prefer bad batch over visions among the recent ones.
      on kathleen, my take on her is she's a cancer. she ruins everything she touches. i hear she's handling some marvel content soon and that's going to ruin the MCU further. she should be as far away from any creative decision-making as much as possible. disney should hand over every star wars decision to favreau and filoni while giving them as much leeway as they gave feige with marvel.

    Small channels never give any criticism for the D&D movie, never mention the OGL influence on the movie, a major talking point and always refer to races as species... which is how they clearly show their hand.

    • @ConstructedChaos
      @ConstructedChaos  Рік тому +4

      I applied plenty of criticism where it is due and used the term “species” because it is the preferred verbiage of the creators of D&D.
      I felt the OGL had been talked about enough after posting two dedicated videos about it but clearly you’ve not seen those.
      So, next time, don’t “show your hand” by pretending you know what you’re talking about.

      @@ConstructedChaos One DnD has not even been released yet, and you use their term, Ancestry is actively used in Pathfinder, and Lineage for PBF to be released, why not use those terms?
      I admit to not remembering seeing any previous videos of yours on the OGL, So I looked back, and I did see your video, I left a comment and you responded to me, saying you hope a WoTC boycott doesn't come to pass.....
      So I stand by my point that you are actively trying to avoid the OGL issue for reasons...
      Just because I'm one of the few people that would mention something like this doesn't mean there are not a ton of others that notice the same thing. So take this for what it is, be concerned moving forward, I dont think any gaming content creator can survive on D&D alone anymore

    • @ConstructedChaos
      @ConstructedChaos  Рік тому +4

      @@scetchmonkey007 I believe in most comments I responded to that I said I hope a WOTC boycott is not necessary. Forgive me if I cannot remember the exact verbiage of your comment as there were well over 1000 on that video.
      In the end, WOTC walked back what they were doing. The OGL issue is a non-issue currently and I'll make another video if I need to in the future. Christ you are grasping at straws here just trying to prove... something... I don't know what.
      And, as I said, it is their preferred term... for all of DND. They made a big post about it. Why does it even matter that much? Sorry for calling out your blatant attempt at superiority signaling on my video and making you walk back your comment as if it was just you pointing out something to me and being kind about it.
      You and I both know that is not what you were doing. Play in the dirt, get dirty. I'm here when you feel like digging your hole deeper.

      @@ConstructedChaos When you assume you make an Ass of you and Me. And yes I assumed just as you are doing now, but if I never raised the issue then it is never addressed. It's just a curse of the times, that what people don't talk about these days speak louder than what they do. But now that you have said the OGL issue is a non-issue that shows I was right to question you on not mentioning the OGL in response to the D&D movie. I knew something was off. It seems you have not seen the poles many creators made after WoTC stepped back on the OGL and released everything to creative commons. That only appeased half the fan base that was pissed off, the rest of us know We will see this again, and you know better than I do that WoTC has reached out to other creators to appease them with early viewings of the movie and other perks because there channels have more influence. You mentioned it directly in this vid. I see this as WoTC trying to buy off creators, for advertising, because they cannot afford to have this movie fail.
      You can be free to keep assuming my intentions but you would be wrong. But after speaking with you I now see your just ignorant and not a direct sell out to WoTC. but there really is no difference. Even the most benign creators like Bob the World builder still manage to mention a nod to the OGL issue on their vids moving forward, that shows a respect to the fan base and why his content is so much better. Even though you have far better video quality and editing.

    • @ConstructedChaos
      @ConstructedChaos  Рік тому +4

      I assume nothing. The only ignorant one here is the one that feigns enlightenment while being unable to spell, punctuate, articulate, or even perpetuate the same argument in subsequent comments. I don't trust WOTC and I will continue to hold them accountable to the best of my ability into the future. I have even made content supporting players that want to switch to something else like Pathfinder. Again you guess at my intentions, hoping luck will land your baseless accusations somewhere fertile but you fall into the sand instead.
      I'm not sure how to put this, but you shot first. You made an assumption about my channel and my intentions with absolutely no regard for the truth and I set you straight.
      Bob is a great creator, you're absolutely right about that. I hope to make content half as good as what he puts out someday. But, you are a terrible commenter and someone who obviously lacks basic comprehension skills. Keep the comments coming, friend. As you say, I can apparently use the engagement.
