What is better than breakfast with Eve and a vicarious art haul? I’ve also purchased a few new art books for inspiration. There are a lot of words in them so I’ve just been looking at the art so far 😂. I held off on the watercolour sale because I don’t “need” any more and my palettes are full now. Enjoy the long weekend and happy arting!!
Ha ha, gotta slip an art haul in every now and again to entice you Kilby! 🤣 Ooooh, which books did you get? I vote for looking only at the art, why waste time with the words when there are pretty pictures to soak up! 👀🤣 And thank you - have a lovely weekend too my friend! 😘
I received “Landscape Painting Now: From Pop Abstraction to New Romanticism” a few days ago. I first saw it mentioned on Laurence P’s channel and then I think Helen Cryer showed in on a video the day I received it. I’m waiting for “Magnetic North: Imagining Canada in Painting 1910-1940”. It made it about 40 minutes away from me on Thursday but then no mail delivery from Friday to Monday due to the holidays so I should receive it on Tuesday. I also have “The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson”, and books on Rothko and Van Gogh sitting on my shelf-they are new and I have barely looked at them. Soon.
Absolutely enjoyed every second of your art haul! love me some Sandi Hester too! I watched the same videos you referred to! Although I am not that far along in my art journey (just starting out); it provided such a great education and better understanding of my palette and art process (to come...) 😂! I feel all of your lovely excitement and joy when you are presenting your finds, sketchbooks and personal art journey. Keep them coming and have a lovely, lovely week! Thanks for bringing me some joy to my mornings! Please definitely do a color chart with your new colors!!
Ah, thanks so much for such a lovely comment Crystal! 😘 Sandi's videos are some of the best / my most watched here on YT. I love her style and her excitement. She is who I'd love to be when I 'grow up' as an artist! 😉 Have a lovely weekend too, and I think I will definitely be doing a color chart / playing video now! 😘
@@violageist1609 I'm thinking it's th pencils I favor - the Derwent drawing and luminance don't seem to like this sharpener - but I also have a similar issue with another sharpener, so perhaps it's just me and bad luck! 🤣

As always Eve, you make my day a happy one! 😁 That was a great haul, filled with yummy colours. You know it’s good because you begin to make those (now somewhat famous) “ooooh, and ahhhh’s”. Enjoy your four days off together, I will wish good weather upon you, and many lovely things to sketch and paint. Happy Easter! Oh, and I hope the coffee was delicious! 😁👩🏻🎨🖌️🎨☕️❤️❤️
Ah, thanks so much Anita! I have had a very chill day drawing and arting away.. 😍 The coffee was perfect, and I have another in front of me right now (though a tad late really, but it's easter, so it's ok 🤣) and I've just finished another little sketch. What a way to spend a weekday! Hope you too have a lovely Easter Anita! 😘🎨🥚❤️

ah, I feel you for every color - the excitement for every pen you are trying out! Can you recommend artists who do "daily drawings"? Maybe even draw-alongs? I think I would like to get into something like that. enjoy your fancy stationary. :)
Ah, thank you! The only person I know who actively does a draw along / daily drawing thing is Ella Ruth (www.patreon.com/ellaruth_arts/). She posts a new 'theme' each month, and then with her Patreon, there are daily drawings which she posts to her close friends, so you can see her process. I joined last week and it's been curious to see, but her style is very fixed - in that she only used Tombow brush pens and Polychromos pencils on top. But, for daily inspo, I thin I'll be staying for a month or two. Katie Moody (ua-cam.com/users/KatieMoody) does daily drawing challenges, but they're personal to her, and she recaps at the month end... There are also some accounts on Insta (which I have bookmarked, but not on my laptop) that share a daily photo for inspo, and then artists use the hashtag to share their version. Not a 'draw a long' per se, but you can then see how others have interpreted an image and created it with their unique style. Anyhow, I waffled on there, sorry! Hope it's helpful! 😘
Yeah, definitely have a look at other stores. I actually discovered today that my favorite independent store in NL (Splendith) sells Tombow pens at the same price as Van Beek, so I will always order from them in future if I need to top up. 😎 In fact, there's a 'tool' I looked on Amazon NL for - the view/color finder tool. I thought it would be good for quickly drawing out thumbnails in sketchbook pages. On Jacksons UK it was like £8... and on Amazon NL? €32!!!! The difference was crazy. I obviously didn't buy it, and will grab one when back in the UK if I feel I need it. I think we have become 'conditioned' to expect better pricing and fast shipping with AMZ, but actually, it's often heavily overpriced for something more affordable at an actual store.. 😬
@@eviedivadoodles you’re right, we are conditioned! I’m actually thinking of closing my Amazon account. I will definitely save money lol! It’s definitely good to shop around .
I got the Pentel pastel 50 set in the end of last year, love them but they smell a bit funny. I also got Nevskaja Palitra Sonnet 24 set and they are softer and smudge more. Pentel ones are practical and suitable for sketchbook work. Nice haul and also an interesting idea to mix white in the ecolines
Ooooh, I thought they smelled odd! I haven't heard of the Palitra brand, but yeah, the Pentels are definitely suitable for working in the sketchbook. 😎
Happy holidays! I really enjoy colors too. Seeing your molotow selection made me fill my Blick (US art store) basket. But I found Pastel Pink and Pastel Peach but no light skin tone. I think you got the peach, but could you please confirm? I love the idea sorting the Tombows by value, not by hue. I read a blog by Liz Steel in which she was experimenting with Faber Castelll water-based markers, She took just 5 markers out to sketch, choosing them so she had a 5 step value scale composed of different hues that could go together. Her urban sketches were very interesting using that method. I will have to check out Sandi's videos about value.
HI Sandra! Ooooh, I am SUCH a bad influence! 🤣 The molotow acrylic marker is no.207 skin pastel. Hopefully you can find it. I know that there are only some colors available in each size, the one I have is 4mm! In case that helps! Oh, I'll have to check out Liz Steel's blog. I spent last night watching through Emma Carlisle's videos on value in her Patreon (Yep, I joined another, sigh) and then this morning I grabbed a handful each of different supplies and colors, and then I sorted those by value too. It's fascinating to see that we are often drawn to one small section of a gradient... as in, the majority of the colors I was drawn to, were in the mid-range tonally, with the odd pale *or* darker value thrown in. I'm spending the remained of today picking just 3-5 colors across the 1-5 scale, and making small thumbnails to experiment. A great way to spend a drab Saturday! 😍 Anyhow, I've waffled toooooo long again Sandra! Enjoy the Sandi videos, they're worth bookmarking and revisiting for sure! ❤️
Hey Eve, I'm totally with you on the expense of Amazon. I don't know if it's only U.S Amazon thats cheaper? ... but here in Aus there are many cheaper ways to buy. It's a bit disappointing. Love your colours... and you make me chuckle! Thankyou x Nell.
It's bonkers isn't it? Though I am happier to support the smaller companies, sometimes it's frustrating when they don't have what you want in stock and Amazon is double the price. Ah well... and thanks Nell, always happy to hear there's a chuckle or two being had! 😍 Xx
how funny! I just got a bunch of Tombows too! Here in the US, I think I paid around $3.11USD for them which I thought was a lot but European dealers are definitely charging a lot more. I had bought Tombows years ago when I was doing more journaling, and never liked the colors I picked back then so I just recently refined my color range and they are much like the colors you are swatching here. Love it!
So funny, the first Tombows I got were when I decided to try bullet journalling, and the colors were SO bright that I shied away from them! 🤣 Maybe we were 'influenced' by the same Bullet Journalling UA-camr? 👀 Glad that you're able to get them so cheap.. I need to keep an eye open for when there are deals on them, so I can then stock up on favorites in future! 🤣
Oh no... don't make me Tombow crazy crazy - there is van Beek a few streets away... I must stop buying stuff... hope to see you next week... we have to arrange a time...
