Amazing. One man's treasure is another man's profit. Years ago, some friends and I moved a 60ies White single axle tractor out of the backyard of a woman's house in Phoenix. It had been there for years. It belonged to her husband. He passed away and never got to restore it.. We didn't have heavy equipment nor the room to use it but we did use cables, snatch blocks and winches to move it. I sat in the cab and steered it out of the yard and threw an alley to the street where it was loaded onto a lowboy. It was an all day project and a great memory. This video made me think of it. Thanks. I'm guessing you had 487000 pounds of scrap. Love, peace and chicken grease.
Back in 1970 we took my old uncle to look at an old Bulldozer. He got all excited when he saw it and claimed it was historic old 1935 D8. The first year they made them. We helped him for three days and he cranked it up. We all freaked out it ran. He bought it for $100 and sold it for $2500 back then. Was a very memorable experience.
Heavy, just wanna thank you all for doing these videos. I almost died twice with this covid and I am bound to oxygen 24/7. I am a hard working man that’s not used to doing nothing, but your videos put a smile on a grim situation.
Start eating brazil nuts and you'll lose the oxygen pretty quickly unless their treatments really messed up your lungs. I also had it three times between Dec 19 and Feb 2021 (also almost dying once or perhaps an almost aneurysm on the third time also counts as 2 - pardon any typo in that) but Jesus gave me the nuts as a remedy for the clots that affect the breathing. Fennel water also helps for the smaller ones that result from the larger ones being broken up and I haven't had to go into hospital once. Even when I was breathing at about 10-20% of what I'd normally be able to breathe it took about 11hrs (including 5hrs sleep) to clear it back to 80-90%. That was 5hrs munching as I was driving and 6hrs sleeping while eating 200g of brazil nuts for my 180lbs. Don't blame the docs, just be happy that The Lord has kept you until now so that you could see this. Nowadays I try and keep both on standby but I haven't experienced anything since early May and a recent test has shown me to be completely clear now.
A wise person once said, "Opportunities often come dressed up like Hard Work. That is why most people miss them." You guys personify this principle. God bless!
That's a paraphrasing of the Thomas Edison quote... I'm not exactly sure how it goes either... but it's something along the lines of, opportunity is often missed because it's wearing overalls and disguised as hard work. I'm probably still off... But it's true all the same. Thanks for reminding me of that great quote though, I appreciate it.

For future reference, pull out the old fuel filters before you try starting it. A dodgy lift pump can be replaced with a syphon feed from a fuel can strapped up high. Don't forget the return.
@@64TommyG It's not that he's "too rich" he runs a business. Time is money. While he could have kept the crane, restored it and then sold it, That crane is taking up space, it's taking up time, etc. Time he could use to sell more scrap, Space he could use to do other things with, and that cash that he got from scrapping it is money he could use to buy another persons scrap and stuff.
Was thinking the same. I wonder what the result is when you add salaries and costs of equipment (both running costs and the "cost" of money stuck in the equipment). Probably still a profit but not so large.
Paid for by television cameras property of discovery these big channels is just another way for TV to take over accept now the commercials are in the video itself and or they advertise cutting into the video
@@rosscharnock2268 It's very true. If you have the capital of equipment and salary cover, then other streams of revenue come into play that make it simpler. Money makes money in the end.....and a lot of hard labour and passion also! Not everyone has the knowhow to take on these kind of projects and still turn profit.... and ultimately you can tell that these guys actually enjoy their hard work.
Gotta love how old machinery can just start right up. Did you hear about how they were able to start up that 50 year old IS-3 heavy tank in Ukraine? 46.5 Metric ton tank set up on a pedestal as a museum piece. All they had to do was pour in some fluids, hook up a battery, fuel it up, work the diesel through the pipes and start it up. That old behemoth came to life like a giant out of legends.
Yea, wasn’t that the rebels? Then they actually went and fought with it! It was on a pedestal for DECADES in a park as a monument..LMAO. SOthey rebels took it to war!!!!

You guys have helped me through a lot since January 2021, and I hope to be able to thank you all someday.
I mean you’re also only seeing a small piece of their lives. They’re working and are on camera, of course they’re gonna be professional. But once the cameras are off they could be totally different people. That’s the thing you have to remember about content creators
There's people all over wisconsin that have tons of steel in old equipment just laying around in their yard. And do nothing about it. Kudos to you for getting the metal back in use
Wow! Totally different lifestyle than ever heard. I'm a city slicker new to country living and am fascinated by what's outdoors. I look forward to more learning. Best wishes!!
I have so much fun doing work like this!! I work pipeline and our yard usually need “reconstruction” before we get material in. Every step of the process of organizing things for shipment is fun! Great video!
I love how you own all your own equipment and operate it. Having a business of my own like that or even working for you or a company similar would be incredible. I'm really starting to like the content. Keep it up!
Honestly watching you and the videos you make really make me want to spend a day with all of you. This job alone sure gave me some memories of my grand dad and I when I was a kid.
Wow ..it's amazing what people have in their backyards huh! I just recently started watching u around the end of December...love your way of rolling and hope to see more videos like this one!
Good job guys Nice to see you guys recycling old stuff and helping the owner out at the same time. Also awome to see your team come together to clear it all. Shame about the crane but at least its not rusting away in a field, Hope your friend is okay that fall looked burtal.
I guess nothings impossible but it looked like more was missing than what's left. Seemed pretty bare bones, but I wish the same thing. Dad should have never sold his 89 Freightliner. Now that IH, for sure plenty of people would jump on that. I can't fix it or afford to and I want it lol Good lawn ornament to start with.
Don't care what the weight for scrap turns out to be. A lot of that stuff is usable with a little repair work and definitely restorable. 99% of that is better than ANYTHING built today.
This made my day I’m in Louisiana and we haven’t had power or cell service for a week but we’re alive and no damage. drove 20 mins so I could get service and watch my favorite you tubers. Some form of normalcy back
Bringing old forgotten equipment back to life... Love it man you struck gold on this one.. Most people wouldn't have seen the value and let it all go to waist
On the 67 year old veteran have a bad heart and skin cancer can't do a whole lot of shit nowadays that's why I love watching your show so much you get any little old motorhomes let me know love you guys
Hey, with situations like this crane, or the old digger on the island, couldn't you have like a portable hydraulics generator that you can run lines over to something like this to power it's hydraulics?
Love the show. I used to scrap too. However, without all the equipment you have, it was a little more difficult. This brought back some great memories. I still love to do stuff like this when I have the chance. I also love to recover any vehicle I can, from cars to large trucks, with or without axles. ALL of your content is right up my alley!! 223,000 lbs is my guess. Also, I can't wait to win one of your giveaway trucks!!! lol
Most satisfying thing to me was seeing the stuff go for scrap and will get recycled in to some thing new, not sat there rusting away and every one made some money
I love that this guy is like mid 30’s and killing it , cabovers and 30/40’s trucks are money right now , i would spend a day free helping just to see the old relics of the past ❤️excellent work fellas
Me and my friend literally scrapped metal to feed our families. I learned a lot about scrapping and theres money in it if you do it right. If I had the resources I'd start one. In texas theres so much scrap and old vehicles on properties everywhere. You got me looking up trucks and trailers🤔. Anythings better then punching a clock. Keep the videos coming im definitely a new fan💪🏾
This was amazing to watch how you orchestrated everything to get it out. Trailers on top of trailers and so on. This was my first video of yours I watched. I am a fan now!
Y'all are really fun to watch. Getting that crane started was pretty awesome. You have some really talented guys working for you. I think that is the fun part for me. Watching y'all put your skills to work.
Not sure on weight... But the "recovery" truck would be awesome in its original shape.... Maybe with a repower... And I love the old beefy white Semi... Both would be awesome to see rolling again!!!

365000 lbs sounds about right That’s a hell of lot of work for two days I was watching the video saying raise the boom and retract it , safety’s are keeping it from being retracted. Them old cranes are beast . It’s a shame it went to the scrap. Being a crane operator for many years I appreciate them old timers. Nice job getting it all cleaned up , and I’m sure money wise , you cleaned up also!
It's just good that this stuff isn't just rotting in a yard somewhere now. Being able to get those raw materials back into use without having to mine for it seems like a good thing.
That old winch truck would be an Awesome Advertisement going down the road. Not to mention How Cool it would be Semi Restored. And like you said to start with it would be an Awesome Offroad Recovery vehicle
Always watch ur vids before work. Always got entertaining recovery or look at these cool old trucks I jus bought stuff. Little curious about the music at 7:50. Very 90's sitcom/saved by the bell vibes. Good 💩
You deal with enough "it ran when we parked it" equipment that it may be worth it to make a power unit trailer that can run long lines to the equipment letting you bypass the engine/pump on the equipment to have full functions. Weld a temporary hitch onto the equipment and simply drive it to the recovery trailer. Can even cheat some more by using solid pipe rather then hose for the majority of the distance with hoses on ether side to give it some flex and just have a boom arm to support it.
I would love to see that big old white truck restored and running. Also that Winch truck too. I love those old style vehicles. I am guessing close to 150 tons was hauled out.
Just wanted to let you all know that you have huge fans in TN. Have been for a long time. But most of all thank you for keeping your content family friendly. Just wanted you tell you that. GOD BLESS all of you guys. Stay safe
As an oilfield guy I can tell you about alot of the stuff there, white and blue building is a drilling rig doghouse. Had a pulling unit on the fence row. The winch truck with waht I think are 10-15 foot ginpoles, the roole that had flags that you couldn't get looked like swab jars, cable tools for a cable tool rig.
Robocop was a movie back in the 90’s about a Detroit cop who was killed and they brought him back as a machine and that’s how he got called robocop badass movie or movies I should say cause there’s more then one go check them out
@@2shottv I’ve seen them all, I remember the saying I’ll buy that for a dollar too I couldn’t remember if it was in robocop or the running man. It seems like it was during the running man show when Arnold was competing that that saying was said. Both great movies, I love 80’s movies.
185 A TON?! That is high as hell...., I see lots of "farmer junk", in fields that have not been farmed for decades, from my small plane. getting to it, and then transporting it is the catch, that and the fact they don't want to cut loose of it!
Looks like you have a great team and you guys are having fun, my estimate would be 150 tons of steel. That by looking at it quickly, good for you love how the old machines fire right up
Old Army Engineer here. I've got 😢a bit of a crazy difficult idea that if you can pull it off, you'll set a new standard for getting heavy equipment in places that was previously thought impossible.

Two things. 1- how does one accumulate that type of junk and in those quantities? 2- why are these types of videos so fascinating? I stumbled on this and couldn't turn away. Well done. I hope you continue to have good fortune in the future.
They buy it somewhat soon after it breaks down etc and says "I'll fix it someday" or collect stuff and years go by untill they realize they are too old to fix the stuff they bought years ago
I love looking in old fields full of abandoned equipment in the country side. You can find some really cool stuff plus hidden treasures inside the cabs of old trucks. Wish I could be there with him enjoying the exploration of the goodies. I see some great restoration projects in the bunch. The old tractors are really cool too.
my friends work at Detroit Desial, if u need parts for that crane , u can still find parts for it in Michigan, Detroit Desial is still in operation, and lots of the old Buses have Detroit Disal motor in it!
That’s the exact colour I painted my Hilux. It’s a Peugeot colour. Looks black when in shadow, yet Bronze with crazy copper flake in the sun. Loved it. 🙌🏼
love the show ! im guessing that 315847 pounds of scrap. i wanna say the kraken build is one of my fav. all the trucks are incredible! the best parts of the show are when you do things for the community if that's towing a truck off a mountain or taking down a house. donating your time and resources. tells alot about a group of people.

Nowadays I try and keep both on standby but I haven't experienced anything since early May and a recent test has shown me to be completely clear now.

wise man once said its who you know not what you know
That's a paraphrasing of the Thomas Edison quote... I'm not exactly sure how it goes either... but it's something along the lines of, opportunity is often missed because it's wearing overalls and disguised as hard work.
I'm probably still off... But it's true all the same.
Thanks for reminding me of that great quote though, I appreciate it.

The moral of the story is that you can turn 8k into big money if you have a million bucks worth of equipment and lots of employee's.
So true
Was thinking the same. I wonder what the result is when you add salaries and costs of equipment (both running costs and the "cost" of money stuck in the equipment). Probably still a profit but not so large.
Paid for by television cameras property of discovery these big channels is just another way for TV to take over accept now the commercials are in the video itself and or they advertise cutting into the video
im sure youtube paid a major part of those wages to make this video
Hey, with situations like this crane, or the old digger on the island, couldn't you have like a portable hydraulics generator that you can run lines over to something like this to power it's hydraulics?
It would need to be small enough to fit on the machine it is supplying hydraulic for, so I don't think so. Could be wrong tho.
You are referring to a hydraulic power pack yes you could but it might not be the easiest thing ever

That's truck with the deck the old one might be good for that
Good idea. Have a trailer with a fuel tank, hydro tank, 24v supply. Like a service truck for "old starts".
