I'm currently having a hard time having fun with my singing and my vocal teacher tells me that I get too stressed and fall apart. I think fun is integral to singing. It's what sells your song to the audience. I still didn't figure out how to get over my stress fully but I do think perfectionism plays a part in it. You mention great points here! I really think you're a great teacher, great video as always!

You always make things more fun and interesting ❤️ I love your videos. I usually spend 20 minutes a day doing Ma-May-Me-Mo-Moo in 3 octaves with the piano and then do some “Up On The Roof” “In The Still Of The Night” “There Goes My Baby” “Some Kind Of Wonderful” etc

I bet one of the best things about being one of your students is the discussions about singing in general or in all those aspects beyond the technical ones. Knew a baritone who had trained back in the 60s with many famous opera singers of the day. In response to my question of how it felt to be qble to sing like that, replied that when things were going well, it felt like he was flying. Ah well. On a different note, I wqs under the impression you had your eyes set on The Met during your formative years. Whitney Houston at the Met? That would be an interesting fach. Enjoyed this video.

Thank you so much, David. Yes, in my teens and 20s, I wanted to be a "famous opera star". Once I hit 30, I realized that was probably not going to happen. :)

Interestingly enough, #3 rings true for me because I find singing to be a very vulnerable experience. I get petrified to practice or perform cause I'm like, o crap, am I gonna crack from getting too emotional?? 😂😂

This is a very individual thing. Some singers are bothered by wheat, some by dairy, some by spicy food, etc.

Any teacher is totally far different one from each other. I learned too many vocal exercises from schools and 85% of them are never used by me in the songs ,as results causing me to return always back to my own beginning style of singing to sound good and comfortable. But I saw & noticed those 85 % of vocal techniques can serve great to some other type of students,as singers. I mean that for example : a student who took voice lessons years of opera or operetta vocal techniques then guess what to expect : he/she can't use them in bluegrass/country/folkloric voice , and vice versa too but it might serve in some a few types of rock&roll songs.
So, it's still nothing new to complain about . Also one must take new vocal lessons even they can't be widely used . Never know what to expect or face sometimes so it's worth to learn new vocal techniques
everyday to unlimited because of surprised competitions around the world are rising daily as if from scratches.
