    Lisa, this was an excellent instructional on glow effects, especially the information on lights and shadows, back lighting, and using watercolor ON TOP of colored pencil (that one blew my mind!). This was a much needed art lesson, a lot of good information in 15 short minutes. Lisa🕊

    Coloured pencil or water colours ?

  • @blankmission5369
    @blankmission5369 3 роки тому +1

    I just found your channel. Alot of amazing tutorials dealing with subject matter not found on other art channels. UA-cam must be keeping your channel hidden? I just stumbled upon it by accident by searching glowing fairy wings grayscale. Question for you if you don't mind? I do not have watercolor paints that are chalky. I do have watercolor pencils and water soluble crayons would these possibly work over the colored pencil to get this effect? Also I don't have white charcoal to white out the lines. Would white chalk pastel, acrylic or white gel pen work instead? Thank you kindly for this and also your many many other tutorials.

    • @its-easy-to-draw
      @its-easy-to-draw  3 роки тому

      Hey, thanks for the awesome feedback. Watercolor pencils should work just as well, depending on the brand. Avoid pastels for this at all cost :D Honestly, I would just get white charcoal on amazon. It's cheap and you'll love it. A white gel pen will work ok-ish, but it's gonna be hit or miss. For a really smooth result like mine, try to match the actual tools as much as possible.
      P.S. I do more live streams these days, with coloring and product review. If you're a subscriber, jump into the chat next time I'm live and say hello. We'll chat for real.
      I'm probably gonna do a show next thursday.
      Cheers

      @@its-easy-to-draw Thank you kindly for your reply. It was much help. I will indeed get the white charcoal as I have never used charcoal as a medium before and never even heard of it and am very interested. Maybe get some black too. I'm wondering what the difference is between charcoal and chalk pastel in terms of application? Maybe charcoal is perhaps more opaque? I guess I will find out soon enough. I can't wait to try this myself! I will definitely try to catch the next live stream as I'm very interested in your type of art and in learning as much as I can. Thanks again. I also forgot to say that it has taken me a long time to find the best channels on YT related to art and coloring. I'm subscribed to alot of channels but only about ten of them have the absolute best colorists and artists. You are among those top ten. The funny thing is the best channels seem the hardest to find for some reason.

    • @its-easy-to-draw
      @its-easy-to-draw  3 роки тому +1

      @@blankmission5369 Actually white charcoal and black charcoal are not related at all, and I would not recommend bringing black charcoal into the mix for colored pencil coloring. If you watch more of my videos I use white charcoal pretty much all the time, and I often explain what it is. In a nutshell, it's chalk and binder. Not charcoal at all. Pastels are great, but they don't bind well with colored pencils.
      Thank you again for the kind words about my channel. I work very hard to make good content and some days it feels I'm walking backwards. UA-cam is indeed a strange and illogical place. Many successful UA-camrs pay a lot fo money for adds and promotions. I do not. I grind, so I'm still very small.

    • @blankmission5369
      @blankmission5369 3 роки тому +1

      @@its-easy-to-draw I thought perhaps I could use the black charcoal on another project.. perhaps for background work. I will have to investigate this mysterious black charcoal and what it is used for. Thanks for the heads up. As for UA-cam maybe expanding the tag descriptions would help people find you better. Maybe things like mixed media, prismacolor pencils, tutorial etc, or the name of the coloring books or illustrations featured on videos. I don't have a channel so I don't know how the tag system works here or description system. Just throwing out ideas that you may or may not have already tried. It's a shame you don't get much exposure on YT. I will recommend your channel to other people when and if I can when it's appropriate.
