Just caught them in concert a few weeks ago. Yep, I didn't know of them until Project 8, but that's why bands want to be in games, exposure to folks like me who no longer listens to radio. They're awesome.
Saw these guys in a little theater in Denver. It's still one of the greatest nights of my life, and I didn't even know what I was getting into then. I can't wait to go see them again now that I know every single song by heart.
They'd be a really fun band to follow.... I've seen them in Atlanta a few times, and traveled up to Ithaca, NY to see them at a little lakeside bar called Castaways in the summer of '09... By far the best Hold Steady show I'd ever seen... Hope you enjoyed the shows!
Bruce Springsteen. Graham Parker. Bon Jovi. Van Morrisson. Elvis Costello. Mink DeVille. The Hold Steady are soooo lovely. They rock us as we'd like to be rocked. They also are reminiscent of a number of other bands. Don't let that upset you.
anyone coming to see em in Hyde Park on Sunday? Can't wait, I love these guys, i've never known a band party so hard whilst on stage, but are still flawless. They pop beers off their hobnailed boots for gods sake, gotta love it!
Hip hop sensibilities without the rapping..shades of Elvis Costello and even a little Randy Newman..and yeah some Beck and Sprinsteen..my daughters say they hear some Counting Crows...all I know is..this is what it is about this is the reason to rock...dump that soul and squeeze that string...finally some new music with BALLS.
Elvis Costello meets Springsteen while looking as unassuming as Frank Black. I love it when musicians don't feel compelled to subscribe to a "look" and instead go about their business of making a killer track.
@fireskullsskateteam I think it might be, it looks like City Center and possibly the IDS tower are shown on the video. But, its so grainy and there arent a ton of shots of the kids in the city.
@nebknx because you....take chubby people for granted..... and probably lots of people in general........ this is your Astonishment throwing out your Judgements to have a dance party with your Joy and Wonder.
Well i got Fiestas + Fiascos off of iTunes. But I still NEED the rest of the Lifter Puller Catalog. ...and some videos up here on You Tube would be pretty sweet as well.
oh my. seperation sunday so so beautiful. this song is wonderful, though the video seemed a little uninspired. it's fun though. when people join my cult, seperation sunday is required listening.

Its a killer line

Great song, kinda stoopid video, love the guitars, love the chorus, great rock'n'roll song that tells a good story.

The singer sounds like Duane Peters. Didnt expect them to look like that when i heard the song on THP8 though. Expected them to look like a punk band.

The do-do-do-do notes that keep recurring through the song sound just like The One Moment by OK Go.
