As strange as it sounds, GTA IV handling is some of my favorite of any game, there's just something very satisfying about throwing a car that feels like it weighs 6 tons around dense traffic and narrow streets!
It's also my favorite Run-over-all-the-pedestrians Simulator, they make this satisfying bang on the car and a nice splatter of blood, while both - feeling realistically heavy and not killing your speed too much. YeHs, it's even more fun than Carmageddon!
The damage is some of my favorite as well, while it doesn't have the major deformation of BeamNG, when you're only taking light bumps and scratches, it honestly looks even better than Beam.
If you like the GTA 4 handling just get a 60's or 70's American car, it's surprisingly similar

Sheep real boats are so much more fun. I got ahold of a 1971 Dodge Dart and the body roll is insane, not to mention the steering play. Combine those with a small block V8 that sits not even 2 feet in front of you, and that makes for a car where arriving at your destination is a victory in itself.
theres a mod on PC to disable the dots, survive the hunt can work that way

Honestly I feel like GTAIV car chases are much more exciting since you can actually do things to destroy the other cars. In GTAV they can just flip themselves over, adjust and do crazy maneuvers in midair, etc. In this game it handles much more realistically.
This makes me so happy! Would love to see more GTA IV!

More please! The handling and the realism of the car physics adds to the satisfaction. Especially once youve mastered the cars handling and movements and youre able to do last minute maneuvers is just that bit satisfying.
I miss GTA IV handling... it's by far one of the most realistic. GTA V is like a dumbed-down version so that 8 year-olds can still play. The cars feel like go-karts and can do virtually anything, plus suspension travel is nonexistent.
Anything seems tough when you have played San Andreas 😅
I'm sure there is a mod out there for GTA 4 on PC that could make surviving the hunt a better game.
Problem is... Most people only have a xbone
Even cheap laptops can run GTA IV better than this.
It's also not hard to get it for under 10$
Yea, But that means people have to fix money to buy a laptop that can run the game and then buy the game again...
That wont just take 1 single day. While on xbox since everyone already got it its just log in start up the game join the party chat and be done with it.
I'm sure most of them already have a computer that they use for web browsing and work and such.
Seriously, pretty much any remotely modern PC can run the game better than this.
Or you know... we can play it on a system that works directly and is not an unopitmized shit stain like it is on PC.
Amazing that they scaled back the car physics detail in GTA 5. I forgot about that. Yeah, GTA5 is a good balance between the cartoony Vice City, and the overly “real” Liberty City. Its almost perfect 👌
GTA IV appears to have more bumps and inconsistencies in the road, also the cars appear to react more realistically to the environment. They don't always just drive over the curb etc. I think the handling files could do with some work but tbh if V had the environment interaction for cars of this game it would be ultimate.

One thing i believe is making this more satisfying in this game then in GTA 5 is because you take more damage, you are at higher risk of shutting down, and if you flip, your out...
In gta 5 you can flip, you take less damage, and its more arcade..
in Forza you can reset your car or what ever and the overall world seems rather dead.
I honestly think this is one of FailRace's best viedos, just the sheer amount of people flying over him is just amazing.

If you put the car in reverse and steer, you get a lot more control over the roll of the car.
While you can't quite rescue cars that have already ended up on their roof, you can often add enough roll force to extend the roll and end up on your wheels or prevent another one from happening.
I roll the cars often in GTA 4, but rarely get stuck on the roof because I instantly put it into reverse and steer in the direction that will extend the tumble the most!
Some cars can be somewhat reliably saved from having been rolled on their sides using this - Patriot and Securicar come to mind.
My friends and I used to go a game in GTA IV called "The Gauntlet", which I took from Lucas Oil On The Edge. A big, heavy, slow vehicle would be the runner and a bunch of smaller vehicles (usually compacts) would have to try and stop the runner before it completes X amount of laps (usually 5). We played this at the airport and had to do 5 laps around both runways. Usually the runner was in an airtug, mule, phantom, ambulance, etc. and the runners could use whatever they wanted that was a land vehicle (except for an APC in BoGT). No guns, pure vehicle violence, the runner could pick up 1 health pack if he could get enough of a lead to not be rammed far onto the beach/into the water. You should try and make that happen.

Had you chosen a bigger part of the map particularly Alderny I think it's called you could have gotten your hands on the Sultan RS which is the fastest car in the game. Nonetheless it's nice to see GTAIV. While it's not my favorite in my opinion it's online play is leaps and bounds better than GTAV. Weapon and health pick ups on the map, being able to shut the police off, colored blips so you can tell who is who on the map, turning friendly fire on and off, and just a far better sense of freedom in my opinion.

I remember playing this game, the ambulances were insane, whenever I saw on it was crashing into something, it was great.

back in the ps3 days of free roam we would play without blips and we found out how to remove your name when driving. If you slide towards the car to take cover near the door and press triangle a few times while still moving, your name would not show up until you get out of the car
This is why I saw gta 4 on my Xbox friends list

If you want to oversteer more with GTA IV's handling you really gotta e brake almost every corner.

Cars are actually more oversteery on GTA 4, but I guess it depends on your driving style. It's definitely a better game for drifting than GTA 5. Also, you should try this again in Alderney. It's still small enough to be fun for this.
Is this vanilla GTA IV or is it one of the expansions (BoGT or TLAD)?
As fun as the driving physics were in GTAIV, I still can't understand how people call them more realistic. Literally every car has the exact same soft suspension with really high compression and really low rebound rates. Every car understreers and barely any can oversteer. Cars barely have any grip. It's like your in zero gravity of something.
Imagine this on GTA SA with the multiplayer mod. Don't know if that would be possible or not.
Oh, and please do this on the other islands too. I'm sure this would make a great mini-series.

You should do an alternative version where you have to keep the same vehicle and they can only kill you by ramming your car until it explodes.

I was watching thinking were the graphics really this bad on gta iv then saw the quality was on 480p. It's much better on gtav. Hopefully it'll be great on vi when they release it.

If you look at the ai cars then you'll see that at stops their break lights come on and if they are turning then they have turn signals. Being the player you don't have access to these features. Your best bet if you are driving and another player is behind you is to already have your tail lights busted as many ai cars do have wrecks leaving their tail end busted. This will prevent them from knowing that its you.

This game is still best for me even if its almost 10 years old. I remember as a kid playing it on pc back then with big lag, but it was so funny and GTA IV will always have a place in my heart
