      Makita is in the perfect position to create a power pack that runs off of 40v batteries and yet they still haven't done it. It doesn't make sense for me to buy a back pack battery when I have a whole bunch of 40v batteries for my tools. Slapping 6 8ah 40v batteries into a power station for 120v would be better.
      If I'm going to buy a back pack battery I might as well buy a whole other brand.
      Also it would make sense that the whole unit run off of 40v batteries or even 6ah 18v batteries so that it can charge your batteries when the unit is plugged in. A charger/power station all in one. What they have here we would still need to plug in external chargers.

    So Ive recently purchased a lot of 40v XGT garden tools for my business after turning my back on Ego 56v tools due to countless battery and charger issues... I've got to say I'm super impressed with the build quality and performance, this may sound like a dumb question but how come the Makita stuff is lower voltage and the motor is lower wattage on the multi-tool power head but seems more powerful? Just better in every way in my opinion... Could it be Makita just make really good brushless motors?

    • @robertrada6040
      @robertrada6040 Рік тому +1

      I have one functioning Ego left at work. Toys. I don’t pay for that kind stuff but if I did, it would be Makita. I wish Echo would work with Makita, Panasonic or the artist formally known as Hitachi Koki to develop some good shit. I hate running gas when I don’t need to, but my echo string trimmer isn’t built like shit (which seems to be the norm with the cordless OPE). I may try to push for XGT split shaft but we have, both, a lawn care contractor and a separate arborist for sawing down trees. It’s a hard sell and I certainly don’t need it for my apartment.

    • @robertrada6040
      @robertrada6040 Рік тому +3

      To answer your question, yes Makita probably make better motors than Chervon. More importantly is the price point and the margins. Chervon can make nice stuff, bottom of the barrel stuff and all flavours in between. I’ve seen examples from every price point. Who is clearly built to a price point. I haven’t seen their “professional” equipment, however.

      @@robertrada6040 I invested fairly heavy into the ego stuff as I was quite impressed at first at least... I wouldn't even class them as being used commercially or abused but the amount of issues was just unacceptable. I would highly recommend the XGT split shaft.. only had mine a few weeks and it's great. Much more robust than the Ego with plenty of power. Makita have been in the game a long enough to know how to build quality tools.. I think people just see 56v and these higher voltage tools and think it must be good but I think there's a lot more than just battery voltage, the overall quality of the motor and internals etc..

    Honestly i dont know what makita were thinking with that power supply. For not much more than the price of JUST the required 1.2KWh battery. You can get something like a Bluetti AC200P or Ecoflow make various models aswell. Only these have about a 2KW inverter and a Lithium iron phosphate battery good for thousands of cycles. Not hundreds like normal power tool batteries and that backpack unit.
    To be fair though. The Makita (aswell as the other options from Milwaukee, Ryobi, Ego) are prob much more suited for a dusty/rainy outdoor jobsite environment. I have one of the Bluetti EB200P units. And that def stays in my vehicle away from dust and dirt.
    I would love Makita to make a small unit though (150-300w). Like the Ryobi battery topper or i think Milwaukee makes one over in the states. I actually have one of the Ryobi ones that I use on other batteries with those cheap adapters off ebay.
    That and also a high wattage USB C supply. I have the dewalt one which once again i use with battery adapters.

    For power station Makita needs one powered by 4+(better 6 or 8) xgt/lxt batteries, which can be charged by it, I can live if it would be consecual, not parallel. On top of that possibility of use as power supply for pc/electronics. I would gladly pay something around 1500$us for bare unit. Otherwise thinking about getting ecoflow with lifepo4 battery for the exact purpose.

      What you said is exactly what I want. Being able to plug in 6 or 8 8Ah 40v batteries and charge them AND run a 120v hammer drill off the power station would be perfect. Looking at battery costs. A 1 KW/h LFP Grade A pack runs around 140 US charge FOB. Grade A is rated for 4,500 charge/discharge cycles to 70 percent. Double that for manufacturing...add another 50 percent for profit...adjust up to 1.2 KW/h and the Makita would run 450 bucks or so. Not bad for a pack that will do 4,500 charge/discharge cycles! Buy a pack, run it for 20 years and....oh wait. This just in, Makita does not use those batteries as they go with LiMN with 400 to 800 cycles at a considerably higher price. Maybe next year? If I want to have a big ol battery for off gride/remote power I'd just get an Ecoflow and roll that direction. The entire unit could feed actual microwaves, fridges and AC units.... Oh well.... this just in. Ecoflow is making a robomower---uses cameras and AI to not run over your flowers, trees, dog and so on. I don't think Makita will wake up but Ego better be paying attention! IF the tool manufacturers made a car, the battery would be dead in less than 2 years, cost 2 million dollars and would all be the same color. Maybe next year
