I cruised the Caribbean twice, in 2009 and 2010. The locations in the Caribbean are great if you wish to relax. This decade, I am cruising Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as Japan. But I did do Stingray Alley in the Caribbean, and it was so much fun interacting with the stingrays. We even fed them. Their topsides were like wet silky leather. They even swam between us and our boat, as their way of saying, "No no, we are still hungry." 😂
Ha, this is so funny - I’ll leave the stingray encounters to you, I think 😂 I also really want to cruise to Japan - super jealous of that! Thanks a lot for watching, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 😊 👋🏼
That beach was beautiful but I do like getting back to an empty ship when everyone is off ,wouldn’t get in the water with sting rays either, great vlog Fraser 😻
Thanks for showing the off the beaten track bits. My only negative for the island are the horses and stingray excursions. I would we slowly would get away from that kind of excursions. I hope you got a chance to have some food once aboard.
Hey! Thanks for watching, and I agree - I hope that we get rid of that type of excursion. In my opinion, we don’t need to be riding horses in tropical heat when there are so many other things to be doing!
Closing the buffet down "early", or at least sharply at 1, may be a thing. I had the same experience a couple of years ago. There was still actually food out at 12:45, but not much and many items were already gone. Fortunately, the "barbeque" items I saw didn't look all that appetizing anyway. HAL really needs to step up the food options here...
Yeah, I’d agree with this. I’d be interested to hear what you’d get to eat here on a Carnival cruise - I don’t know how it could be any different 😂 Thanks a lot for watching!
@@FraserAtSea I was there at the same time as a Carnival ship (yep, two ships, VERY busy!) and the food was just the same. You could still get peace and quiet by walking down the beach, though. I have to admit, I totally missed a lot of what was available on the island, so I'm really enjoying this video!
I just googled whether it is safe to swim with stingrays. It seems that once one gets stung the only question is whether you will merely suffer unbearable pain or whether you will die. The island looks amazing.
Ha, I googled very similar things that day 😂 I’d imagine the stingers will have been removed from these (I hope…), but it still doesn’t make me want to get in the water with them. Would be just my luck - the one with the sting intact would choose me 😂 😩
Isn't that how Steve Irwin died while filming, swimming with stingrays (wild, of course) in the Great Barrier Reef? I've read they do not "de stinger" the rays, but the barbs on the rays in some "swimming with the rays" places are constantly monitored and they are trimmed down as needed much like a ray manicure.
@@SherryAnnOfTheWest yes, I think you’re right about Steve Irwin - good point! That’s super interesting that they trim them down - will need to do some reading…!!
@@FraserAtSea This is crazy! Did they make participants sign waivers before getting in the water? One would think that sooner or later something would go wrong. Maybe the cruise contract agrees to arbitrate all disputes on Mars ....
I have been there over 15 years ago and nothing has changed , the beach is amazing , you must go on The tender .half moon cay is not shallow enough for the ship to dock . So it will always will be tender service-
Ahh, I didn’t realise the ship wouldn’t be able to get any closer - that’s really interesting - thanks for sharing! I bet you’ve seen lots of changes over a 15 year window - that’s amazing! 😊
@@FraserAtSea we have been to multiple destinations, try Hawaii from san Diego, Alaska from Vancouver or Seattle, Baltic cruise from Norwich . We have used celebrity cruises and Holland America
We went to Grand Cayman and visited Stingray city we were told not to attempt to touch them just let them swim around them and certainly not torment them. This was before Steve Irwin died we wouldn’t have gone if we’d known the dangers. So Fraser we fully understand why you don’t want to do it.
Listening to his son Robert, a tourist was tormenting a sting Ray, his dad knew the tourist was in danger and did the humanitarian and saved the man’s life get barbed in the process. He didn’t pull the Barb out the sting Ray moved away taking the Barb with it. He died saving someone’s life.

When I book a cruise, I always try to make one of the ports a Private Island. It is relaxing and a free beach day!!
@@dalegaddy5167 yeah, I really enjoyed my visit here! I’d like to try more of these islands!
Simply put, Half Moon Cay is my fav spot in the Caribbean 🌴🌴
Yeah, I can totally appreciate why - I was really surprised by how natural it felt!
I’m going in January! Thank you for this! We will definitely not be late for lunch lol!
Ahh, I’m super jealous you’re going - I loved my visit there! Have the best trip!!
Great video with bonus rainbow.

Lovely island. Thanks for the video!

Ooh, did you enjoy it?!

Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting, Christine! I’m glad I’d have someone to stay dry with, haha!
beautiful sharing have a good day 😊
Thanks for watching!
You may be the only person I have seen that can get into a hammock in one try! 😂 Good job! ❤ Enjoyed the tour, thanks!
Ha, you didn’t see the exit - that was less impressive… This made me laugh!!
I don't think I'd go in with the stingrays either but omg they are so cute they have the cutest faces
Ha, their faces are adorable to be fair - I always think they look so smiley!
@FraserAtSea they do lol, but then I remember Steve Irwin and how he passed

I'm not sure I would actually go in the water with stingrays, but they lovely and I have stroked some before

Oh wow - you could go in the water but told not to touch them. I absolutely would be too nervous for that…! Thanks a lot for watching!!
No I would not go in, Steve Irwin thought it was safe.
Ha, I wouldn’t go any nearer than the platform hanging over it! Thanks for watching, Joyce!
Steve Irwin's death was a freak accident. If he hadn't instinctively pulled the barb out of his chest, he might have survived.
Nnoooooo....I'd like to look at them but not in the water
Ha, you and I both - I couldn’t believe when I got back on the ship that people had been TOUCHING them in that pool. I’d be terrified 😂 😬
@@FraserAtSea I just think they would be slimy and surely they're called STING!!! For a reason. Yuk!!
