Who's excited for this series?! Huge crappie, river monster blue cats, sheepshead and speckled trout in Biloxi and then epic redfishing out of Bay St. Louis. We'll also be visiting a fish hatchery, learn about the birthplace of blues and the legendary outdoorsmen that came out of the Mississippi Delta, checking out historical sites and learning first-hand how they harvest shrimp, blue crabs and other fresh seafood. What sounds most interesting to you guys?!
Another excellent adventure. Something I've noticed about your personality when you go out with these guides is you let them be the experts. With all of your experience in fishing seeing your humble attitude is yet another great lessons for those of us who fish all of the time.
Thanks for the kind words brother. I didn’t start fishing til I was 25. Everyone asks how I’ve accomplished so much in so short a time… I tell em because I’m a good listener and never let ego or pride get in the way
Diversity…..this is why I toon into your channel Rob👍🏻 Hope your able to make it just a hop, skip and jump away from Grenada over to Sardis, Enid or maybe even Arkabutlar in this series. I fish all of these lakes on regular basis so really diggin’ you making your way down to see us in MS bro👍🏻
Thanks for the kind words Jay. Sounds like we may come back to MS every year and hit different areas! Stay tuned for the next 3 episodes in this series
Appreciate that feedback Brett! I shy away from the non fishing segments a lot because I’m afraid people don’t care. I’ve got another cool one in the 3rd episode coming up too. Hope you like it
I watched this video and within the first five minutes I was HOOKED! I am from Mississippi and have been fishing for over fifteen years. When I saw it was my favorite fish, crappie, I fell in love! This is the first channel on UA-cam that I smiled and laughed so hard while watching! Omg! You guys are awesome! Subscribed!
So glad you enjoyed it! This is the first of 4 Mississippi episodes that I did for the state tourism department. Heading back this summer! I love your state!
Robert that was SO COOL. That Nice Lady was so informative. What a great inspiring tour. She has probably the best job because She really seems so excited about it. That was a Great video. Thanks again
It's one of the southern states that gets a bad rap because of its horrible pass.. However today's Mississippi looks like a beautiful place to visit along with meeting the people from there.. Think I'll visit soon one day!
I fry em like that all the time and it turns out real nice. Especially helpful since there's no minimum size around me and most of the ones I catch are a little smaller than those big boys.
I can't afford to do what you do but I get to travel threw you brother thank you so much for real bro at least I can dream and see it right on your videos which are excellent God bless you and your family and God bless all of you who are struggling and homeless because of covid-19
Yep, that's how we cook crappie and bluegill at my house and I'm from Arizona but my folks are from Oklahoma .. Wonderful video nice and wholesome! 👍💯🐠
Hey fellaz, thanks for the entertaining “look at us catch em” video….now then, how bout y’all should’ve educated us and threw us a bone …some real details on how to successfully find/target these crappie at this particular lake….🤔…. There’ll be enough for all of us to catch, tell that Local Grenada Lake Guide don’t worry!…lol! 😅😉 (Sidenote: that damn fried slit crappie presentation is freakin awesome lookin!! Gotta go to Slab-shack and try em like that!!🤩😋❤
5:18... used to hook up those minnows to catch rainbow trouts...good old days...then filet them...fried after marinating in milk rolled in cornflour...it's heaven. 6:45...decades ago highway patrol stopped us to measure the crappie we caught shd be >than 8" now it shd be a monster🙄
Wish I had known about this way to cook crappie. We ate tons of those fish caught by my Dad & I up in Northern Illinois out of Crooked Slough on the Savanna Ordinance Depot/Savanna Army Depot. I got to go down there!
@@YakFishField it’s a blast. Definitely not a big number of fish day usually, but we have gotten some big ones. Northeast Ohio has a couple of the top lakes in the state!
I’m playing catch up. Enjoyed this first episode of the series! One question about your rig though: the thing on the bed of your truck that your kayaks are on… what is that? Looking for a similar solution for my rig as I have a similar travel trailer and two kayaks actually too lol.
Awesome catch and cook. Not a big crappie fisherman but I have had the pleasure of the wonderful taste. Never have figured out why a crappie rod is so long while my surf rods for bull drum are only 12-15ft? Either way I always love a Field Trips.
Got me over here wanted to try crappie lol. When you ready to come gag grouper fishing!? Don't come to Homosassa/Weeki Wachee without letting me put you on some fish!
@@YakFishField Do it. If you come in the hotter months we go a bit offshore to 20ft. Aim for the Nov-Dec and we target them in 8ft of water using Yozurri plugs. It will change your life lol. I am addicted to throwing plugs at them
My parents are from Mississippi (Greenwood, Grenada, Greenville). We scale , gut , and cut the head off. Why, you want all the meat and generally , meat cooked on the bone taste better.

The Mississippi coast is the most underrated fishery. So many species!
Back to the states! I like it! 👌
I enjoy the experiences and views. Fishing is a bonus.
It was a pleasure meeting you at the cc aquarium. Happy travels!
Can't wait for the coastal stuff!

So true. Something different every week!
This one might be my favorite video you’ve made.
Thanks so much Jonny. The series only gets better if ya ask me.
Good to see you back in the freshwater....
This is going to be a fun series. Crappie, giant blue cats and redfish, trout & sheepshead down on the Gulf coast as well.

Much easier than filleting for the smaller ones

Some delicious looking slab daddies!!!! Not against the whole frying at ALL!

No questions just do it! 😂 Ya won’t regret it
It will be fall before the opportunity. I plan too!
This is like a TV show. Can't wait to watch the rest of it!
It looks delicious. I can smell them cooking up!!

Absolute banger episode. Glad to see my state did you right on your first visit.
Hell yeah it did! The rest of the series is great too. The Magnolia State stole my heart!
My Grandma would cook her crappie whole. Old timers sure knew what they were doing.

Big catfish in the Mississippi next!

Thanks for visiting. I never been. Scared of racism. But some of my best friends are from Jackson.
Didn’t experience or witness any racism during our time there, but it happens in every state so it’s certainly no reason to avoid a state altogether
Live about 50miles from here
Worth the trip!
@@YakFishField yea we catfish more up there tho

That big fish the bearded guy lost was his fault cause he didn't set the hook, he was doing the one arm raising the rod like Hercules! 😖
Rookie mistake huh
Just asking, why you keeping the big ones?
Weiss lake is the crappie capital of
What month was this filmed in? Thanks!
I fry my crappie whole minus the head. South Carolina that's how I do most fish.
Love the show, but the crappie capital of the world is Actually in Alabama, Weiss lake! Look it up
I don’t think it’s a definitive, official title brother. The world record white crappie came from here in MS, so it’s a worthy contender
gray pants brand?

where do you purchase a 18' rod?
I have no idea lol
