@@tiffanymeshell6041 oh absolutely! Ive had a a few lemon trees ive grown from seed the for 5 years and it hasnt flowered at all but its fun and a nice evergreen house plant. Smells great too!
My daughter (15) saw me watching you yesterday. She was like oh my god mom, I have never seen someone as happy as you for growing weird things! Definitely a compliment! I left her at home the last time I went in a succulent mission under the table at a plant store!
Hi Krystal, I'm on central Indiana. I've successfully grown pineapple like this. The first fruit will be small but the top and the pups the original plant may grow will be full sized! Put banana skins in water for a couple days and water your pineapple with this a few times the 22nd summer. It should flower the next spring. They taste far better than the original!
my mum planted a crown 1-2 years back and just last month we ate the pineapple from the plant. it was the most sweetest, delicious pineapple i ate in my life. and yup we planted the crown of that fruit too 🍍🙃
They’re so beautiful,,, I have 4 and one of them got me a pineapple, and from that pineapple I got another one and that one is my Queen she’s so beautiful I have her on top of the dining table , she loves it there ,
Krystal you are comedy 🤣 I did this, yes tell your followers this is a 2 Year commitment at the least, hopefully you live in a mild climate all year long I had to bring mine in because it gets cold where I am but too cool when you see your own pineapple 🍍
Thanks for the greatest video ever I was asking about how to grow pineapples and this is very helpful to me thank you so much ❤️💕❤️ you Make My dreams come true love your videos 💕👍👍👍👍
I totally just did that, as well with dragon fruit seeds, mango pits, papaya seeds, and lychee… dunno what I’ll do about all the indoor trees though! Lol
Lol two years ago I just chopped off that top, took it out of the compost an hour later, slapped some root hormone goo on the underside and stuck it in my largest pot! Still no baby pineapples, but at least I didn't kill it 😂
I have 3 pineapple plants I started in water & now they are in pots out in my yard for summer. Back in the house for winter. They are doing really well.
Oh yea shopping day today and always buy a pineapple so you know what's gonna be on my window later, am so proud of my Avacado plant I grew and he's been needing a mate...
Okay, so I got mine after multiple attempts of trying the way everyone says to do it... by throwing my pineapple tops into my compost, and noticing a few weeks later it was growing rather than rotting 😂😭 I still have it a year later now!! It's loving the sun!
My mother has 2 pineapple plants she rooted and potted 7 years ago! They have never produced fruit. 😔 But I will never forget showing people at a party how to do this, they didn't believe that it would grow! The homeowner updated me later that the pineapple did start growing roots! 🥰
I planted one and let me say it's turning out so beautiful!! The former pineapple leaves are at the bottom pretty ugly and the new pineapple is growing right at the center the leaves are very tall !
honestly only learned recently you’re supposed to put it in water. I put mine straight in soil, no cutting and inly removed some bottom leaves. She is now massive in my yard. 2 years old but no fruit. Honestly i don’t care if she never fruits either I just think she is super neat
It's easier when the pineapple is a little riper. Pineapples are related to bromeliads, so keep them warm and water often, but in well drained soil. They grow really well zone 9-11 outside, but any colder, keep them indoors. It takes years for them to fruit.
I planted my pineapple tops right into soil and they done great! I didn't even know you can let them dry out so I put them straight into the still and they grew.judtb fine. I've done it 3 times now. 2 are still alive 1 died from a freeze when the protection I had over it protecting it was blown off 😞
I didn't let mine dry out before I put it in the water...but it grew enough roots to get in solo cup, then up potted and it even made a couple babies! Maybe we'll get a pineapple 3yrs from now 😅
You remind me of my mom who is growing a couple avocados from seeds and also have done tomatos and chillis (we had to spit out the seeds from a tomato we ate 😄). She is amazing but where to put all the plants then??? Your flat doesn't look full enough.. 😄
There is a guy on UA-cam who shows a different way: cut the top into quarter (4) sections. Plant each section in good draining soil. Each quarter should produce a "pup". These pups >should< produce fruit in customary 1 year as opposed to 3 years from the top, itself. He shows the process of the quarters making pups. He does not show fruiting. I'm gonna try ASAP! Search "pineapple propagation".
Every time I do this the top nearly dies, turns brown, by drying out for even just 24 hrs. So weird. I had some green left in a couple so I’m trying them in a prop box!
That’s how I got my pineapple plant! I’ve had a lot of trouble with her though, soo many dead leaves :( I think she’s 3 years old now, so surviving but not thriving 🫠
I feel this video was made especially for me it probably wasn't but I feel like it was thank you so much love you for the greatest video ever seen 🏆🥇🏆💯☝️🥇☝️💯👑🧡💛🧡🤩 sweet dreams are made of this 💘😍💖👍☝️👍💛🏆
I’ve tried a couple of times, but every time it looks dead, rotting, or moldy. It smells horrific. If it looks dead, should I still continue growing it in water or maybe continue in soil?
Often the fruit is'nt fresh enough so the top Part is already moldy inside. It happend me a lot of times too so i did some research and Tried it with seeds inside of it. They are in the shell of it and are small and brown :D give it a try and may you can say us the results. I hope you have soon a cute little pineapple plant!
Can you explain why getting the callus on the clippings (letting it dry out for a few days) helps/is necessary? I believe you - it just feels counter intuitive
Pineapples are prone to root rot so drying it out gives it a better chance of not rotting and also making it “thirsty” so it will start growing roots to find water. I’ve grown 4 or 5 plants from store bought pineapples. The first one didn’t make it 😬
Someone yanked the top off of a pineapple at the grocery store and just left it there! So I took it and am doing the same thing. This vid is really timely for me!
So I actually when I did it and moved it to soil after It got roots they actually bended and broke, but the stem told me everything and I quickly moved it back into water and now on the present day I see root nubs
I did this without cutting anything. I twisted it then put it in dirt and gave it water...and snails ate some of the bottom then it started growing. Now it's twice its size 😎 still no fruit though
My mom did this a few years back and now when it throws a fruit it is the SWEETEST most DELICIOUS pineapple ever.
I feel like you have a collection of odd plants that you are trying to grow 😆
Yep
Unfortunately after planting mine and coworker told me takes 7 years for them to grow but it's a beautiful plant thou so I'm keeping it
And you only get one pineapple a year per plant
I heard it’s a year or 2. I have one in a cup right now.
It’s still fun and it’s still a pretty and free plant! 😂
@@tiffanymeshell6041 oh absolutely! Ive had a a few lemon trees ive grown from seed the for 5 years and it hasnt flowered at all but its fun and a nice evergreen house plant. Smells great too!
It’s takes 7 years if you grow from seed but if you grow from the crown it takes about 2-3 years
My daughter (15) saw me watching you yesterday. She was like oh my god mom, I have never seen someone as happy as you for growing weird things! Definitely a compliment! I left her at home the last time I went in a succulent mission under the table at a plant store!
That look when you get the idea gets me every time 😂
There are seeds in the pineapple too! I grew them to tiny plants
Really!! I never knew that. Where in the pineapple are they?
@@Just_Daiz I found them below the outer layer of the pineapple, like as soon as I cut off the skin but they aren’t always there
@@Just_Daiz Behind the shell of it, they are quite small. I usally find them in the pieces i cut and would throw away
That’s awesome. You should do both seeds take up to 7 years to grow fruit but the top takes 2-3
The seed is to Crown actually
Very nice avocado plants

That's awesome! How long has it taken to get a pineapple?!
@@kristenpino4635 it took if I’m mistaking like 3 years, maybe 4 , if you take care of them it can give you the fruits in less time ,
How long did the pineapple take to grow?
I’m about to try this myself 🤭 Super excited 😍
You’re hilarious and your passion for plants is contagious 🤩
Krystal you are comedy 🤣 I did this, yes tell your followers this is a 2 Year commitment at the least, hopefully you live in a mild climate all year long I had to bring mine in because it gets cold where I am but too cool when you see your own pineapple 🍍
We have pineapples growing all over the yard! They produce the cutest lil fruits 😍
I love your enthusiasm! And your plants
I started a pineapple like this a couple months ago and I have some new growth already!
The mario sunshine music is perfect this. Omg
👍

Girl! You have the best taste in music! ❤❤❤❤❤
Gonna try this in my fish tank
I have a feeling that’s a bad idea…
Love the defino plaza theme in the background!
We have two, one we started from a store-bought pineapple, and one we bought as a "houseplant" seedling. So far, they live!
I totally just did that, as well with dragon fruit seeds, mango pits, papaya seeds, and lychee… dunno what I’ll do about all the indoor trees though! Lol

Hahaha loving the growing anticipation from the things you see, eat and rescue.

How long until you can pot it? Please do updates on how the roots are coming along :)

Every time we get a pineapple, we grow another. Then the new pineapples give us more pineapples and the cycle continues. We are building an army.

Now I would love an update on this I tried like 4 times and never worked.
My favorite part was her wearing the

It’s a few months from being two years. Is there an update on the pineapple?
You can cut the top in 4 to make 4 new plants.....didn't believe it until I tested the theory and it actually worked. Lol
I didn't let it dry for a few days.. will it still work?
THIS LADIES BRAINS ARE AWESOME
Why dry it out for a couple of days, but then stick it in water?
I just did it :D now leaving the pineapple head to dry and doing a weird crab dance to celebrate my strong arms :)
Any suggestions on it when it just straight out molds??? Everytime... I'm no good at pineapple 🍍 growing...yet 😂

My second attempt also died by drying up while being in the bottle of water. Or is it normal to first die before sprouting Roots?
I hope the pineapple tasted great, too.
I did the same thing for two pineapples! But one of them keeps forming algae in its water, what should I do?

Is it really necessary to let it dry out ?
U was only supposed to peel of the layers cutting off the bottom will slow it growth
