While at Michael's yesterday, I saw where they do have 2 sizes of micro precision tips you can snap into the bottles. That may be the answer to too much dripping out. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work!
With the alcohol inks, could you do a thin layer of epoxy first and let it cure then do the next layer with the inks? My first layer has always given me fish eyes and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong because I use precise measuring on my both parts and make sure to wipe my cup down to get rid of the oils that may be on it..
You definitely can do that but the fisheyes could be from touching the cup and the cleaning not getting the oils off. I experimented with not touching the last 3 or 4 ink cups without gloves/paper towel and didn’t get a single dry spot.
If it just spins like normal, the inks will be like horizontal lines with very little up and down shape. But, I’ve done this even with my turner that the arm doesn’t come off. You just have to make 1000% sure your cup is on there securely. You can lift most turners to achieve the same look. 🙂
what inks do you prefer over all of them and how do you heat your epoxy up before hand? also do you do glitter cups? if so do you use mod podge method or epoxy and do you sand after first epoxy layer or 2nd? im having a hard time making ombre looking ones idk if I need to d epoxy method or mod podge method for ombre…..im just starting out and wanting to know what is the best way to go about things. I just need to know how to get bubbles out and epoxt hot. lol
Overall, I tend to gravitate towards Brea Reese. Mostly because the coverage is good, the colors don’t tend to change, and there’s a great variety of colors out there as well. Yes, I do glitter cups as well. I prefer epoxy method and sand after my second layer. I learned that lesson the hard way! The easiest way I found to heat my epoxy when it’s cold, is by using a shop light. I just set it in front of my epoxy bottles for a little while, just enough to warm it up. I’ve definitely gotten it too warm before! I’m really liking how using a torch can get bubbles out pretty effectively. I would not do that on an alcohol ink cup though, I’d be afraid of what it might do to it. But I don’t tend to have air bubbles with my ink swirls anyways. Hope that’s helpful! We started a Facebook group if you’re interested, search for Newbie Tumbler tutorials and support.
What has worked best for me is heating my epoxy before mixing and using a metal stir stick. I’ve also heard that silicone keeps bubbles down as well. This epoxy is Envirotex lite.
I love your instruction videos! What brand of epoxy do you like the most? I am just starting out and have only used Amazing but was wondering about other brands.
What type of mask do you use? Do you have to tape off the inside lip of the cup? Or does the extra epoxy just drip off and not flow in? (Thanks for your patience with all of my questions while I binge on all of your videos! 😆)
I don’t often get it inside. You can definitely put tape around the rim. I just always slide my finger at an angle that doesn’t squeegee the epoxy off and into the inside. That makes sense in my head but not sure if it will to anyone else! 🤣 I have a list on the community tab of all the links to what I use most often. I can get the info tomorrow as well. 😁
I'm having big time issues with my inks kinda separating like you mentioned. I have had to strip multiple cups because it can be so bad. Any suggestions?
I like this... very nice
So cool. Love it and meaning behind it. 💙🎨💙
Beautiful! One question - does the ink need to be alcohol based. I have some UV resin ink and wondered if that would work as well?
Do you do another layer of resin over this? Do you have to spray paint? Or resin under only?
I put another layer of epoxy over the inks. You don’t have to spray paint first typically.
If i didn’t want any decal or image on the mug would I need to do another coat of epoxy to “seal” it
I do because the inks can rub off a little.
That's beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

🥰 I noticed those for the first time last weekend. I wonder how long they’ve existed!

@@ThePurpleStitch so I think I may be missing a step, do I wash after spray painting it the base coat?
Love it thank u
You’re welcome! 🥰
Do you HAVE to take it off the spinner for the swirling? Can I just let it continue to spin? I don't have a spinner that I can remove the cup

We saw a sneak peek of one you did Aud 9th or Aug 10th. Did you use the same colors?
Yes, I’m almost certain it’s this exact cup. It’s just on my “finished shelf”. 🙂
Wow how do you keep your epoxy so clear and free of micro bubbles? And what brand is that?
What has worked best for me is heating my epoxy before mixing and using a metal stir stick. I’ve also heard that silicone keeps bubbles down as well. This epoxy is Envirotex lite.
what kind of epoxy do you use? I see you have no bubbles at all in your epoxy.
I’ve been using Envirotex lite for a while 😁 it works well for me.
👍thank you!
You’re welcome!! 🥰
How much epoxy did you end up mixing?
I mixed 30 before starting but didn’t use it all. I mix extra so I can add more if it isn’t moving like I need.
I love your instruction videos! What brand of epoxy do you like the most? I am just starting out and have only used Amazing but was wondering about other brands.
🥰 I’ve only tried that one, pro marine, and Envirotex lite. They’re all about the same to me so far.

What color spray paint did you use?
This was just a plain yellow from Rustoleum. Kind of like a butter color.
How do you fix/remove waves of the epoxy?
I usually can level it out with the next layer of epoxy. Thick enough to allow it to fill the dips. But not so much that it is dripping and bulky.
@@ThePurpleStitch ty. You are awesome
I'm having big time issues with my inks kinda separating like you mentioned. I have had to strip multiple cups because it can be so bad. Any suggestions?
I have started to think it’s my epoxy too thick. But I still haven’t figured it out for certain.
@@ThePurpleStitch good idea, I'll try to use less on my next one.
