OK I know this is an old video BUT I finally figured out the main problem with my 2006 harley 1200 custom... the spring that operates the accelerator pump was weak so it was not shooting enough gas when i would chop the throttle. I was watching it and it barely had enough tension to properly open that valve. I shimmed it with some tiny washers and my bike only pops like once or twice for like the first 10 seconds of idling i couldnt get it to pop once i was riding after a min of the engine warming up. If you have messed with jets and needle position and the air mix screw check that fucking spring dude!! Hope this helps!! It took me like a month to figure it out

I also had the same problem and tried everything. I finally took the carb off and drilled out the air/fuel mixture plug. It was supposed to be between I believe 2-1/4 to 3-1/4 turns out as a factory setting. Come to find out mine was screwed all the way in. I backed it out 2-3/4 turns and reinstalled. Ran perfectly. Hard to believe it was set like this from the factory. I've heard of this a couple times on forums from people who found the same thing. Hope this helps and you finally figure it out. Good luck.

The Best way to get rid of that Lean pop is #1 get rid of the Champion or HD Spark plugs (JUNK) and install Autolite Spark Plugs they make a world of difference . #2 use a small drill or a sheet metal screw to remove the plug over the Air Idle mixture screw . let the bike run for at least 20 min then adjust it 1/8 turn till throttle is responsive and no more lean pop did this on both my Harleys works great . also CV performance has lots of Carb upgrades

i did follow this exact recipe, and the issue at first was when i first would move the throttle a slight 1/2 inch or so it would start to pop. after i tightened 1/8 at a time it went away but now it happens only in high rpms, or sometimes when decelerating when i let go of the gas and coast so to speak. should i counterclockwise twist the air mix screw until it no longer does it AT ALL? and how many full turns out is way too much, just so i know?

I Moved the main needle up a few notches, I cant remember the correct termonology, but it helped a greeeat deal. It still popped once a month or so. I sold it a few months back.

It had a jet kit already in it. Who ever installed it didnt spend the time to tune it properly.
