He was based on a real fbi agent, who really did say that during a mob war, I forget which families it was between but when his informants and people made a big hit and took out some people the agent actually did say that sentence as if he was actually apart of the team of mafiosos lol. He wound up getting in trouble for a lot of corruption

Look at this scene/the concern Tony has about terrorism and the work - or the scene with Harris boss playing Tony that tape. Better to have a Harris or a Soprano than some hard headed prick you can’t do business with. Especially when Soprano knew Harris was working on a ‘bigger job’. They formed some kinda mutual respect from lack of fks given and relatable family bs - that can’t be denied. The first time they meet Harris respects Tonys household, his children. That gets remembered. It’s heart warming… in a really fked up way. Harris risks a lot giving him Phil. Tony had no impetus to show concern here when he wasn’t in ear shot. Whole shows about toxic fked up relationships- even some sociopaths have feelings. Personally, despite his position, I liked Harris. He just bet on the wrong horse. And Tony knew all about that…

Harris parasite was my favorite character, i was happy with the time he got in the screen.
Your comment is pretty funny but if you pay attention, many major characters get long-term health problems caused by anxiety or otherwise because of their life in great danger: Pussy's back was hurting after getting caught and becoming an informant, Adriana had irritable bowel syndrome from the same thing, Silvio has chest and breathing problems when Tony is shot and he must become interim boss, and here Agent Harris has the stomach bug. He "has the bug" for years (and even Tony comments on this saying "still??") But truly is stressed about his marriage, Tony's life, and the terrorism assignments. It was a very clever and realistic hint throughout the entire series.
@@Supersquigi Not only that, but I think it's one of the only times in shows where real health problems are recognized -- makes the show feel all the more real and the performances of the actors even better. If health issues come up in most other forms of media it's a direct vehicle for plot development in some way, but here it's almost like an afterthought / attachment to the characters like any other character trait they hold. Great details!

This was inspired from real events between Greg Scarpa and his relationship with an FBI agent. He gave him the locations to his rivals during the 1990s Colombo war. Even said “we’re gonna win this!” It’s well documented. Agent Harris gets a location on Phil and tells Tony then said “we’re gonna win this thing” as well

I like how Harris' partner strikes a nerve with Tony at 4:35. At first he's laughing at the idea that Harris expects him to actually pick up the phone and call the FBI about something, after all, going to the authorities is a breach of omerta. But times have changed. And those few words by Harris' partner seem to bring Tony to a reluctant understanding that in these twilight years of the mafia, their little game of cops and robbers is getting increasingly paler next to the reality of terrorism at the hands of groups who do not care what side of the law you are on, the sheer fact of being an American makes you a legitimate target. They would kill his daughter without a second thought, or him, or the FBI, because they are all the enemy. And suddenly, the idea of co-operating with the FBI, if technically a violation and extremely uncomfortable, suddenly seems like a favourable choice compared to letting your daughter get bombed to death in a subway station because you didn't pass on information you had.

Actually what the FBI was asking had historical merit as supposedly the mob kept a close eye on things during WW2 at the New York harbors.

Agent Harris should have asked Tony for electrolytes of choice at Satriales. Also LOVE that black crown victoria with the chrome. Plain simple and classy. Those are great cars. Comfortable, very reliable. The V8s in them were not performance V8s but they were meant for longevity. Those engines can go 200k miles easily. Still a V8, its not a race car from a stop but passing power is plentiful. The visibility is amazing too from all the high glass. Turn your head and you can see outside fully around the car

I think Chrissy hit it on the head. These feds like "knock around" guys like Tony and them. He was a a great character especially when he ended up giving Tony info which I think was a favour in return for Tony giving him info previously. Lotta layers in the sopranos it's brilliant

I’ve never liked the whole post-9/11 patriot act surveillance apparatus the government has built but at the same time I’ve read stories from supposedly anon agents who tell us if Americans only knew the kind of threats we quietly deal with every day they’d live in constant fear.
