How to make a Satriale's Veal Parm Sandwich

- Veal. Parm. Sandwiches. A favourite of the characters of the Sopranos, from Tony Sopranos to Agent Harris. Satriale's pork store makes the finest veal parm subs in the show, so today we will try to re-create this delectable snack.
Music:
- Alabama 3 - Woke Up This Morning [Sopranos Theme Instrumental Loop]
- The Valentines - Lily Maybelle (This song plays in the scene in which Richie Aprile smacks Beansie with the coffee pot) - Розваги
Do you have any Sopranos foods you'd particularly like to see?
half frozen ketchup mixed with da relish
When Tony showed his appreciation for Japanese culture during the Quasimodo conversation...the steak-san.
Janice's Zidi.
Bobby Baccallieri's wife's baked ziti.
Anything from Vesuvio
That would go really well with a soft drink of choice.

I wanted a Satriales veal parm sandwich. I compromised - I watched this video. You see where Im going?
You know the wine makes you emotional - have a breadstick... or better yet - have a grilled cheese off the radiator instead...

The "Bye Bye" from Phil at the end kills me.
Every sopranos related vid should end with that.😅😅😅
It killed him too
That's a veal parm worth losing one's finger over. You need to try making Janice's lasagna in the future. You know, with sweet sausage in little pieces and a layer of basil leaves right underneath the cheese.

Comes with a side of Ritchie Aprile.
I always thought Ritchie would be nicely marbled, but a little tough and stringy.
$4 a pound, whatever happened there.
Richie’s tripe was wonderfully presented
Very true! Richie was a wrong'un...who turns down a veal parm?
Richie is old school, prefers grilled cheese off the radiator.
Only compromisers eat grilled cheese off the radiator. In my book you get points for staying out of the can.
@@jakep1979 Sound like a Phil Leotardo Sandwich to me, but I don't think he mentioned how many years he did in the can
He was turning down Beansie's veal parm.

Loved the vidoe. no fluff, not too long, not too short, good narration, have to say this video was definitely a highlight this morning. Take it easy

Man, I've been looking for this kind of channel for the longest time. Basically The Sopranos Cookbook in video form. Subbed! (no pun intended)
The "veal parm sandwiches" overlaid on the 3 scenes was well done. Probably a more difficult piece of editing than I'd initially thought

hands down my favorite all time show. I try to watch it every winter.
"Its all about the contrast, the crispness of the bread crumbs, the smoothness of the the veal" 😂 love it

that was really well edited.
Trippa (tripe) is actually a common Italian dish.

Amazingly well-made video, bravo!
Don’t forget to add a little bit of Richie Aprile

This is really great. Thanks
I honestly would've loved to have a few scenes with the store workers involved. Imagine selling meat all day while all that stuff is happening in the back room
Do you know what time these humps come in for work? Fu*king meat delivery at 5 AM.
I just love the phrase "pork store".

As someone who actually had one of the Chicken variety, Parm Sandwiches in general are possibly the king of Italian-American sandwiches, so it's no wonder that most of the cast of The Sopranos have a fondness for Veal Parm Sandwiches. Thin meat cutlets, breaded, shallow-fried and served on a toasted submarine roll with mozzarella, parmesan, basil and tomato sauce. Such a winning combination!
JOHNNY CAKES AND SOME OF DEM JIMMY DEAN'S
Sunbed! I loved this
Where’d you get this kind of bread in the UK? The bread museum?
No Italian bakeries in the UK?
I went to my local supermarket but was unable to find parmayzahn, bazail, and oregaunoh.... Please send help.
You did the veal wrong. I couldn't tell what cut that was, it's supposed to be a slice off the leg, but also it's supposed to be cut really thin and you're still supposed to pound it out to make it thinner and tenderize it. Also, once you've assembled the sandwich, open faced, you then put it under the broiler to finish.
How much more betrayal can I take?!
you're correct
I thought he should have sliced the garlic much thinner so it would liquified in the pan.
Different movie @@jakep1979
The way veal parm Heros are done by me is after the veal is cooked, it’s placed in the bread, the sauce and cheese are added to the sandwich and placed in the oven to melt the cheese and toast the bread.
basil usually doesn't go with oregano. It's garlic and oregano or garlic and basil. Parsley is even rarer, mostly used in seafood dishes or meatless sauces (aglio olio, alfredo, etc).
The Satriales was the real name of the show.
“Don’t give me your Manson lamps…..” 🤣😂😅
How don’t you have a million views by now!
Gotta make some Tripes and tomatoes next
Richie's tripe dish does actually look half decent
Along with a Ukrainian taxi driver wearing da jackeeeettt!
What temp do you put the oven at for the veal ?
350 F or 180 C
“Who got chicken and peppers” *snaps fingers*
how long in the oven at what temp
20-30 mins at 350 F. You can prettymuch eyeball it, once the breadcrumbs have browned nicely and the cheese has melted properly, it'll be ready.
Burned Richie with the tripe reference 👏 😂😂
Beansie got smacked with the coffee pot because he offered him a veal parm from his restaurant and not Satriales. If it was from Satriales he might have given him a break.
Beansie shoulda hurried tf about that veal parm sangwich, otherwise Richie wouldn't have had to back over Beansie
Next up, can you please do peppers & eggs?
I'm sorry, peppersh and eggsh? And orange juice with shum pulp
Peppers and Eggs! That's what I shoudda had...
@@feelsincorporated1918 wait, no f*cking ziti?
Uh we're on a job in Teaneck
Nicely done. One suggestion: When you've got maybe 5 minutes left in the oven, put the bread in the oven too. Put the cutlets in their place on the bottom piece, with the top alongside (cut side down). The bread will crisp up nicely.
You can take it up even further by adding some roasted red peppers atop the veal.
We should have known about Ritchie after his reaction to the veal parm sandwich offer by Beansie.

The preparation of the veal is almost the same as the milanesa napolitana we love in Argentina. Next time I make some I'll go the extra mile and make a sandwich with it.
I prefer the gabagool and provalone with vinegar peppers, but that's just me.
Veal parm is great but gabagool and peppers is so much quicker. I toast mine and start to finish is under 5 mins
Pepper and eggs?! that's what I should have had!
come for the christmas of the breadcrumbs, stay for the smoothness of the veal
"You threw food at Vito! That's gotta be resolved!"
ahh yes the christmas of the breadcrumbs, not sure how a chef would think that a food based quote from a tv show would be christmas and not crispiness
Your narration has me dying of laughter. "Noted for his Manson lamps". 😂🤣😅
Is that an AGA hob? Wish I had one here in the states…
It is! I'm lucky to be able to use it
Hooo there he is! The veal parmigiana hero 🦸♂️
it is basically what we call Schnitzelsemmel in Austria. Only this adds tomato sauce, mozarella, parmeggiano and the basil. Interesting, have to try that.

If you can't afford it, you can always compromise - and eat grilled cheese off the radiator instead.
Damn that's a good lookin sandwich. I'd never heard of scallopini before but as an american I do love meat that's been breaded and fried
Me too……all types of meat
I could feed all of Baba Bing with all the sauce I got left over.

Gabagool, provalone & vinegar peppers sub is my soprano's sandwich of choice.

One possible variation. Make a parmesan cheese crisp instead of just putting grated parmesan on at the end. Done by melting parmesan in non stick pan remove and let crisp.
15 to 20 minutes in the oven on what temperature?
180 C, or 350 F
