I saw this episode back in the mid-1980s when it was put on nic-at-nite. I was probably about her age at the time. The kid yelling about watching Wagon Train all the time cracked me up, I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. I looked this episode up because of that, I sure needed the laugh tonight; maybe not like I did as a teenager in the 80s but it still made me giggle.
Love this show! I grew up at this time and watched it on TV every week. This show and Gidget with Sally Field were some of my favourite shows. Also, "The Mod Squad" and "The Fugitive" too.. All great programs.
Yes! Suzanne we have the same taste! I loved these shows. I wanted to be Gidget so badly. Lol. I thought Sally Field was the most beautiful girl ever. What youthful years. 💕
@@MrCJ-qz9dl Was your mother also Italian? The reason I ask is that when it comes to beatings, they are truly vicious! (Italian moms don't give polite little spankings; they give CRUEL BEATINGS!)
@@MrMenefrego1 Why does some pour soul always have to go around reminding people "It's fake! It's not real. Don't get so worked up!" It's entertainment, and people have to get a little invested in entertainment, feeling an emotional connection with what they see/hear. otherwise it's nothing but white noise in the background. Sure some people take it too far by becoming fanatical, but just saying "poor Richard" is hardly ridiculous.
Several interesting social points were in the episode. One that parents would find a random babysitter, 2 that Kathy had the audacity to initiate a spanking of the little boy, 3 that the father actually proceeded to carry out the act (w/o being reported to the authorities) - In my era the teachers and even the neighbors pitched in to guide children towards “social behavioral norms” and even had the liberty to swat the kids on occasion. Scary thought nowadays, huh? 😱 Don’t get me wrong I’ll watch every episode on Classic TV but I just find it very controversial nowadays. PS Thank you CTS for reproducing these shows without commercials that interrupt the programming especially since the Adverts added are at a volume almost twice that of the show itself! CTvS you have a new and loyal fan going forward!
I was relieved they really were no spankings..they didnt miss a hair on their head or leave a bruise.ii remember we hid bruises or we would get some more.

I watch this every night for 1 hour. Two episodes a day keeps the boredom away.
Me too a couple episodes make me fall asleep 😴 😊
Mimi D Same here. Too bad youtube deleted all the episodes of My Three Sons.
@@OrangeTabbyCat I didn't know about My Three Sons. I was watching it a lot about a year ago.

@@kathygrosvenor4464 Two Boomerettes after me ole heart! The '50s and '60s were wonderfully innocent times for a kid; how I miss those days!
great acting in this episode she's really tough and determined, and going through the whole gamut of emotions.
Patty Duke was absolutely amazing!
This is a great show!! Wish they would put it on Hulu or Netflix!!!
They should be going to AMC and IFC on TV
18:58 I’d die to get a hug like that from Patty. Looks so warm and comforting.
You'll probably never hear a teenager say the word "aloof" on TV today.
Most today wouldn't even know what "aloof" means!
I feel like I am a child again
6:40 Patty’s just the cutest!
She was a pretty looking girl sassy but pretty !!
They don't spank 'em like that anymore!
Yes should of used a hairbrush

why is the music bad on intro? is it cause of copyright reasons?
YES!
@15:08...my favorite part of the episode. Gets me every time 😅.
Poor Richard. What a sap
it was in the script
@@mook53lhd So many people act like these sitcoms are real; it's ridiculous!

Did Patty really say Columbus set out to discover America?

Whose idea was it to change Patty's hair color?
How do you know that her hair colour has changed ? The show is in black & white for goodness sake !!

And you know that Patti changed her hair color in this black and white show, HOW?
I know
What do you "know"?
Why is the theme always breaking up? Very aggravating
