- On 11 March 2017 the pupils from dancing school Keltisch Dansje, led by star pupil Kasha van der Poel, performed a flashmob, showcasing their dancing skills in the main hall of Utrecht Central Station.
I had the privilege of providing musical backing to this awesome show, along with a group of amazing musicians I gathered for this. It was a wonderful experience and we'll definitely do this again next year!
For those who are interested, the dances are called the "Walls of Limerick" and the "Bonfire Reel". The tunes are two traditional Irish jigs, "Haste to the Wedding" and "The Banks of Lough Gowna", followed by two reels, an Irish traditional called "The Otter's Holt" and one of my own compositions, "Reel for Angus".
The dancers:
Kasha van der Poel

So cool! As much as I love the St Pats day dance this was very refreshing. Not to mention that the steps show how even simple steps can be really cool!
Brilliant! Bless our Europe homeland. Thanks for listing dancers, musicians - I do not identify any Irish names. This is an example of how all our cultures enrich all of us. Bravo, Denmark!
It's in the Netherlands ;) But thanks!
Wow! Dumb on my part - I read it as Danske! Bravo, Netherlands!
Brilliant..from Scotland
Nice video I only wish the quality was better such as 720p or higher.
Love it
Une initiative très réussie pour mieux faire connaître la musique irlandaise aux européens !
He Tijn, je bent een kanjer. Groeten uit Hilversum van Uwe, de Duitse fietsenmaker.
Thumbs up for the musical and dance performance, but the video quality is a bit of a let down. I mean, 360p ?! In 2017? Full HD is the way to go! The sound was muddy, too. I suggest to use better equipment next year. Hell, if you can't find a good crew, I'm happy to help out next year. I could bring a couple of Gopro's, an additional cameraman and a sound engineer, at no costs. We're conveniently located in Hilversum, too. :)
I'm a fairly new subscriber; mainly interested in the anglo concertina, which I also play (poorly). But the bodhran and, surprisingly, the bouzouki (isn't that a Greek instrument?) are also fascinating.
Just not the same in the soft shoes.....
