"Magnificent" is the only word to describe George Reeves, and his portrayal of the Man of Steel. Even though the funds for special effects was on the slim side, one can truly believe that Reeves could fly, and he played the part as a very exceptional person, and actor, that he was. May he be remembered forever, and god bless him for eternity. RIP, with love from a true fan. Steve Eisen in Md.
Steven Eisen I too a TRUE FAN forever George Reeves was a True SUPERMAN...HE is not forgotten. He sure had his flying down and also his takeoffs and landings. Just great.
I miss the sound of Superman flying through the air like some guided missile. I miss the Reeves' style of flying, as if aerodynamics were of any consequence. But mostly, I miss Reeves himself. He had this bulked-up look (which certainly wasn't muscle and more likely padding), but he was a consummate actor. And no matter how cheesy the script, he handled each and every episode with grace and sincerity. Many look back at Christopher Reeve as being the embodiment of Superman. Reeve was outstanding, but for many of us George Reeves was the Man.
George Reeves was the best Superman. Even with the poor special effects he really sold that he was the man of steel. It also helped that George Reeves had a smile and charisma that was unstoppable! It never bothered me that he wasn’t all bulked up…Superman got his strength and abilities from the yellow ☀️ and not massive muscles!
I've been watching The Adventures of Superman since i was 4 years old. Im now 66 and still watching it even though i've seen every episode at least 30 times.
Superman is and always will be my favorite superhero. His shows always kept me on the edge of my seat. I just couldn't rest until the bad guy or guys were put away for good. Thank you Superman. You were the best.
George Reeves’ million dollar smile could light up Metropolis. So sad he didn’t live to see how truly loved he was. As Superman, no other actor could hold his cape.
I totally agree with you, not Christopher Reeves, not any other actor, don't care how many other actors you get to play the man of steel, no other actor could ever light a candle to George Reeves, just my opinion.
Good ole George "Honest George Reeves" The People's Friend!!! He was known to be an easy touch and for it was given that nickname by his friends. He was a real Superman. God I pray has rewarded him greatly. Amen!!!
I loved this show as a kid and the older I get the more I appreciate George Reeves as Superman. Superman was just good. A good guy who helped people. Reeves was terrific.
Great job putting together his best flying scenes - I loved this show as a kid....and the kid in me STILL loves Superman - and George Reeves made an imposing Superman for certain. Perhaps some of the flying looks a tad primitive compared with the computerized antics of today, but life was simpler then and the heart of this show did come across with sincerity ~

@@ECO473, yes, Reeve's Kent was sharp, smart, acted sensibly--and had wit. Absolutely, for nearly 70 years old, this is pure magic, don't get me wrong, I love the new Superman films. But these guys did the impossible, with nothing, remember no technology in them days. With nothing, they did a damn lot. Is this on DVD?
I agree with the gentleman about the episode where Superman (George Reeves) flies around the world with the crippled girl. I still tear up every time I watch it because of how wonderful Reeves acts in the scene. The little girl actress kills it when she kisses Reeves and his always charming smile. He is still the greatest actor to ever portray the role, followed by Christopher Reeves.
I am sitting at home in the mid 1950s with my older brother watching George Reeves on a 13 inch black and white Philco television amazed to see him fly and rescue people and or animals. Nostalgia or not these were good times.
