      True Cape Town was my first choice ( I am a visual artist and have plans in SA) because I am European but after diving deeper coming from a multicultural place and mixed race I'd rather prefer JHB for the vibe, the creativity and the people. So yes it is easier to do it in JHB. By the way your country is amazing

    Johannesburg is the heartbeat of South Africa, finance, Media, Music, Business, Sports and other industries r mostly based in Johannesburg. Yeah, Cape Town is a tourist/ Holiday City, that's why is too expensive. Things like food/grocery properties they r expensive because of the tourist using dollar or Euros or Pound but Johannesburg is affordable compared to Cape Town. It is easy to socialize in Johannesburg

    The urban planning in Cape Town means you see the squatter camps close to the wealthy areas whereas in Joburg, everything is very spread out and wealthier areas are very far away from poor areas. The squatter camps in Joburg are basically hidden away far out of town compared to Cape Town

    It’s a strange quirk about Cape Town: it’s generally hostile to outsiders, including South Africans. If you’re not born there and went to those exclusive schools, you will struggle to establish yourself. And this is across all races.

    As I said in a comment in your last Cape Town video a few days ago, I've never met one single black person living in my Neigbourhood of Newlands in Cape Town, except for workers. I'm African Brit from the UK as well. I totally understand everything you have said about Cape Town and it is unfortunately true for even darker South Africans. So yes, I have seen most African Americans and other middle class Africans move to Joburg instead. However I will say this to everyone reading my comment. There were hardly any black brits in San Francisco & LA when I first moved there, so lots of people looked at me very funny including African Americans once I opened my mouth. However my exposure to Hollywood, Wall Street & Silicon Valley in the US is what helped my career and my tech startup today. I suppose it's easier for me because back in England, I grew up around 99% white english culture, so I kinda of relate to it a lot easily than if that was not the case. That all said, I would strongly encourage people of colour to not be deterred especially if you are of African decent as you and I are Nathan. You'd feel the same living in China or Japan, or Switzerland. Just learn as much as you can and see your minority as a gold mine as I am doing. Remember, other cultures want and need to learn from us too! It really does start through you and I and opens up opportunities for both black, white and every other racial group in between 💜 is the key symbol of our universe. If no one pioneers, there is no discovery and there is no growth for humankind 😎 Morpheus thinks 🌿Differently.

    The difference between Cape Town and the other provinces is the presence of Coloured People. Cape Town is the only province where youll find not only the largest coloured demographic, but its also got the largest muslim community. These 2 factors shape the city in a way other provinces dont..I dont understand how when people compare JHB and Cape Town, they only talk about black and white people...eventhough Cape Town is the home of coloured people which is why the city is different to any other in South Africa

    I always find the comments section interesting when it comes to this topic or JHb vs CT. My first thought is, how many of the ppl in the comments section that says JHb is far better are actually from CT. My guess, very very few. I’m from CT, lived in JHB for 17 years (Melrose Estate and Bryanston). Now, im back in CT. My point is I do have perspective on this ongoing debate having real credible living experience in both cities (not a short December vacation like most or the odd weekend breakaway or visit). The narrative that JHb is so much better is not as black and white as some make it out to be. A lot has got to do with one’s personality (introvert or extrovert), the area you choose to reside, your job, how deep your pockets are and unfortunately, the colour of your skin (that’s still a sad reality) . It also has a lot to do on how accepting one is of another race and at the same time, how one view themselves and their own selfworth ie do you still live with a victim mentality or not? Based on the above, different ppl will share different perspectives. As far as the weather goes…say what about the winter rain and cold weather but nobody complains when you have the perfect extended summer. When I first moved to JHb is said, no more than two years…stayed for 17 years coz I loved JHb so much and was eating it up for breakfast lunch and dinner. Now when I look back…I realise that thing ain’t as black and white as what the comment section so often portrays.

    • @lifestylepretoria9181
      @lifestylepretoria9181 4 місяці тому +3

      Don't lie, how can a place in the Highveld be colder! Cape Town is much colder. Check the weather forecast and historical data, you will see that Cape Town is generally colder than Joburg. That snow was an anomaly.

    • @shisuiuchiha480
      @shisuiuchiha480 4 місяці тому +3

      @@lifestylepretoria9181 do you have a brain?!? Don't you know that the higher the altitude the colder the climate?!? You must've failed geography at school. How can a coastal region be colder than the interior of the land. This is basic Geography knowledge.
      The coldest regions in South Africa are those near Lesotho which is the highest point of our country. That is why Lesotho snows +100 days of the year because Lesotho is at the highest elevation.
      City of Cape Town has never even seen snow ever. It's literally impossible for Cape Town to have snow fall for Geographic reasons.

    • @shisuiuchiha480
      @shisuiuchiha480 4 місяці тому +3

      @@lifestylepretoria9181 anyways you should be the one doing some research because Cape Town can never even dip below freezing temperatures.
      Joburg we experience negative temperatures every winter (-4°C) even lower. Cape Town hardly even goes below (+10°C) their winter nights don't come anywhere close to how cold it gets here.
      Joburg cold you feel in your bones. Cape Town just has rain in winter. That's what makes Cape Town winter horrible. If that rain was in Joburg it would be snow because Joburg is much much colder than The City of Cape Town.

    Anyways you chose well by settling in Joburg, I also recommend it for offshore bros. Perrsonally I'm a Durban chap but I do hold Joburg in high regard since Durban is a bit like Texas, it's very cultured and stand-offish. Nice place but my Zulu people can be a little bad with first impressions, especially with outsiders.

    Really appreciate your perspective and insights. I spent 10-days in CT and about a week in Jo’burg ( I also spent 4 days in Durban and 5 days in Pretoria). I found both Jo’burg and CT problematic from a safety perspective. We were followed in both cities by some shady characters. I’m from Brooklyn so I wore my “don’t mess with me I’m from New York” face and walked with a small knife, but overall these things detracted from my SA experience. But thank you for the depth of information you shared. Really appreciated your perspective.
