- Today I wanted to see if the NEW Spacebound parts work in the standard maps that have an atmosphere! I am particularly curious about a few of the parts so let's dive in and see what our testing unveils! The amazing thing about flying with the quantum rudder is there was no drop. You could make a plane and, as long as you were moving and pointing in the direction you want to go, you would not lose altitude. I really feel like the devs are going to patch that.
I think its a intended feature, not a bug. As they want it to be space ships not planes with fancy wings.
I know that it works as intended but this "magic" part was created to make space builds more viable, not to allow us to ignore gravity on the other maps.@@deathvai364

@@nikkiofthevalley There's no reason they shouldn't. Like I know I suggested in past the stuff like propellers and jet engines shouldn't work as well outside of atmospheres but quantum rudders are a 3 energy part that seem to be able modify your direction through some advanced energy field. Balance wise there's no reason they shouldn't work and creations wise it opens up a whole section vehicles designed to feel alien.

You gotta tinker more with the Quantum Drive, check its limits, further applications etc. From what we've seen already it has the potential to go extremely fast and its acceleration is insane. I'd love to see more of that!
I accidently made a version that goes 10kph faster
I made it go 4.6 million kph
Now let's see what works underwater...

If I was a betting human, I'd say everything would work.
This is PERFECT for jets the quantum rudder will help keep the nose up! With the way lift works in Trailmakers I struggled with the jets just nose diving down.
This sounds like you're making either nose heavy jets, your center of lift is out of wack, or your center of thrust is above your center of weight. These rudders would make a good "shortcut" around those issues, but then you're sort of bending physics to your will rather than using physics to your advantage. If you don't mind and just want flight then by all means, I don't want to rain on any parades, but stable jets are possible without these rudders, and without even using logic gates.
@@stoneytheduck5554 I have made stable jets but I'm speaking about jets that have delta wings (like Mirage 2000) there's only space at the end of the wing, so center of lift is always at the back half of the jet... As for center of thrust I once made a F16 ( I think) and purposely made it lower than the CG so as to lift the nose up. Most of my builds at that time I used the airplane cockpit.
It didn’t really surprise me that the quantum rudders would, because they work on the space hangar , wich has the same gravity as the other maps
You can make the most steady fast moving car with this! You can take turns without flipping over or drifting
You should definitely do an emp robot battle for multiplayer Monday
With the EMP robot battles you can give each player an emp turret so they can shoot at different bots. For higher accuracy you could turn down or turn off the auto aim.
Well, that was interesting. I was not expecting these results. Now I want to see a dogfight between spaceships in an atmosphere... mostly just to see how much accidental carnage there is.
How do the older weapons effect shields and do the EMP work of the old shields in the Chirpo bases?

what would the regular (particle based) guns do to energy shields (shielding against "energy particles")?
I still wanna see a quantum paddle wheeler. 2 multi-blade side wheels with the rudders turning on and off to "stroke" through space... or the air.

For everyone wondering about the quantum drives, I tested them and with extreme space apart like ridiculously far I got to 18,000 mph, a few 4x8 blocks apart gives a fairly non glitchy 1,300 mph. (My setup is 5 servos on the top and bottom of the rudder with the rudder horizontal)

Fun fact: Real ion thrusters / hall effect thrusters won't work in atmosphere - they don't have enough 'push' to eject the propellant out of the thruster against the atmospheric pressure. To test them you have to use a special vacuum chamber here on Earth (the biggest ones are at NASA Glenn Research in Cleveland OH, USA). That chamber has to continually evacuate the argon/krypton/etc. the thruster ejects.
See now kosmo is doing the testing that we all want to know.
if i had to guess i would say the rudder is just a block like wings but they have a setting that lets them be on on the space map
and all the other airo block just have it turned off in space
guess i will test it on my own but would be a good test of the older weapons vrs the shield

Next question after that: Do Energy Shields work against conventional weapons (I'm guessing not, but I don't own the game yet, so I can't test it)?

try to make the fastest accelerating ship in space
with how the quantum drive ship works pretty much the same both in and out of atmosphere, id say it would make a pretty good rescue vehicle, yknow as long as you forget about how it caps out at 65 kph lol
Im curious, could you test if aerodynamic blocks make space vehicles faster?
I wonder if the quantum piece enables atmospheric drag for the whole creation or if it works like a tailfin being the only part on the craft that has drag, also could you detach the quantum rudder mid flight ro get zero drag or does that mess the physics? I experienced many physic issues in past updates when you detach stuff

Do shelds stop other weapon damage, or just the lasers?

How do the lasers compare to the minigun? Are they stronger?
the devs said it's they have the same DPS as miniguns but with a slower fire rate.
Is like a smart cannon in the auto aim and the power is just like a minigun but slower and more powerful

Edit: Oh, and also, in regards to the Quantum Rudder, the Gallina 9 chirpo info keeps swearing that Quantum Rudder alignment flap horizontal = good and alignment flap vertical = bad... but ya'all seem to do flap alignment vertical all the time and it seems to work normally... i'm not seeming to understand why the chirpo info keeps blaring this info warning...? 😕

Rockets in space are the best. No "bullet" drop.

Gravity adjuster is for multiplayer servers so it might not work in single player

Fun fact. Space bound map is just a zero grav map. There is an atmosphere in space. It just has lift and drag disabled for the original wing parts at certain distances from tagged set pieces. The sails being affected by movement when in space is evidence
If you had sails in space the would move on movement due to inertia effects. But yeah tm space is far from real space. Devs call it arcade space which fits real well imo.
