mate, what a bloody compelling story. that thumbnail was rubbish though. should have been a split screen of a much tighter shot of 2:49 or 17:26 and an mri/ct of pete's hip showing what needs replacement. make it better for 10x views and 50-75k subs. please!
I had to pause the video and just appreciate for a moment how wise this man is. We are all blessed to get to hear his honest thoughts on the world, and to see it through his eyes, even if only for 20 minutes.
And it’s so true. When my grandmother passed I suddenly became the generation of mothers, not children and that marked a huge shift for me. Different decisions.
Yes, what a sentence. At this point I immediately paused the video for a longer period of time. I had to think about it and will definitely continue to think about it. My father passed away in 2021. A lot has happened since then, but these words, this sentence... there are so many miles (and thoughts) between then and now, but no time has passed. Thank you both, I hope Pete understands when I say: see you next corner. I wish you both only the best! This video means a lot to me!
This will probably get lost in the comments but, words can't explain how much I love watching your videos. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like you, Beau.
It was quite emotional to see Pete being wheeled off in a wheelchair when the race was over. It confirms some of the fears as a viewer in this story. But it also paints a picture of Pete's mental battle. His desire to be fit and finish the race, versus his body which made him unable. Then the video ends with that absolutely absurd cliffhanger... what a character that man is...
Whenever I am procrastinating or being lazy but wishing I wasn’t, a video from beau pops up and makes me slap myself around the face and get out of my own head. The videos themselves are all great, but the real magic is the effect they have on me and I’m sure others, to make us stop thinking and start doing.
There are absolutely ultra's and trail running after hip replacement! I had a total left hip replacement. After recovering and taking it slow, I've built back up to 40-50 mile weeks, and longer when prepping for anything over marathon distance. The key is this: The doctor will say "don't run" because it extends the life of the implant. So what? If your health suffers because you can't run, what's the point?? Instead, take it easy, make sure you're doing strength workouts, and build it back up. If it does deteriorate over time, again, so what? Have a revision done - At the point you'll need it, the technology will be even better. Don't let a replacement stop you!
Classic used to be when you have a hip or joint replacement, you are locked in for at least another unless you get hit by a bus in the meantime. The newer items are better, but the join of the new material is still not 100% like the original item it replaces, more so when it comes to impacts.
@@mitchellking4988 You don't seem to understand the point. If your health will suffer from *not* running (which I said in my original post), then you should stay fit and run. But hey, misinterpret it however suits your agenda :)

Pete, don't doubt yourself. I've had both of my hips replaced. When I was in the my 30's. Now I'm 45 and I'm the most active I've ever been. Gym workouts, lifting heavy weights. Long walks. Bike rides. Get through recovery and then go full on.

Calling Pete a warrior is an understatement, the determination to even consider attempting this with his issue and then having the spirit to go back for round 2 is completely heroic. Good on ya mate and cant wait for the next one.

Love the spirit of our Ultra running community. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and thinking about not being able to is a bit sad and scary. Great, great go at it. I can’t wait to see the next part!
I love this video. I got into running a bit later than some, in my 30s, but it's been one of the most important parts of my life for 20 years. Just recently, after dealing with a heart issue, which dealt a blow to my running, I've developed hip issues, and it turns out it's arthritis. I've barely run in six months. This video is inspiring. There’s only a few of your films Beau that make me tear up, and this was one.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing the next chapter. Salute my brother 🫡
That was a great video. And again with trying again. Love seeing that you Ausies whenever seem to get knocked down, they are happy to come back for seconds! Great way to live life
good ONYA beaudy! Your lessons on life as you age bring me the reflection and appreciation for life that I love, I'm definitely living better as a young knucklehead cause of you and people like Pete who you share stories with. Keep 'em comin, much love from Vermont
Must be something in the soil where you're from Beau...You and your mates are something else! Tough as old boots and mad as a gumtree full of galahs! Amazing stuff Pete and Beau
We are a little left of centre down under Amber!! Appreciate you!
Pete I’m proud of you. Don’t have any regrets. With your dad passing and you losing your hip, you get to live a whole new life. Good on ya
If it takes 50km to make you feel like you've failed, then I think you've succeeded pretty well overall.
Beau your films are always inspirational and I feel blessed to be following you. Pete I understand the pain, my left hip was replaced. To part in anything of that scale and achieve the distance you did was truly amazing. Looking forward to the next instalment 😊
Pete crushed it with the handicap that he was in! He pushed those mountains down with every step as he summiting them 🫶🏼
Brilliant! Your videos are always so inspiring. Keep them coming Beau
Beau, your videos always fill me with optimism and joy :)
Just had a sub-optimal day and this bloody good Aussie shows up again on my YT feed. Good onya Beau ❤

Proud of you. All the best for your future.
how beau doesnt have millions of subs is one of the 7 wonders of the world
The hip replacement can actually be what makes running again possible!
Goggins 2.0 incoming?
Love the spirit of our Ultra running community. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and thinking about not being able to is a bit sad and scary. Great, great go at it. I can’t wait to see the next part!
Legend, thanks mate!!
I'd just like to get out and run a few miles again.
Bloody good. Thanks Beau!
As always , I'm looking forward to the next film . Thanks Beau .
Such a beautiful story about an enduring friendship.
Loved this one Beau, Pete is a legend 👏🏻
Pete is tough as nails. Good on ya Pete!!
this is incredible story telling., time and time again, a reminder to enjoy and take in life, however that looks or is in the moment.
I would count it a great honor to be called a good friend by Beau. Pete must be good people.
What an incredible and beautiful experience. One man holding space and time for a friend, I hope to be able to support my friends in similar ways through my life, thank you mate
Love your work Beaudy
Thanks for that great perspective Zoroah! Helping friends is a great part of life!!
This is seriously inspiring me to sign up for my first ultra here in the UK. The Fellsman. Largely pathless route, self navigation, lots of bog hopping. You’d be all over it!
battling through the pain. inspirational. incredibly proud of him.
