Yo the narrator at the beginning was totally Rhea from 3 houses
shane francis even though it came out before three houses XD
@@pokkiheart Most of the voice cast has been in a FE game.
They also have claude's voice actor and Marianne's voice actor. A lot of similar voice actors from person 5 and fire emblem three houses.
Ik the second it started I thought she was about to start talking about the goddesses wrath
That's Cherami Leigh! Check out her other work; she's pretty talented.
I finished this on PC.
Totally recommended
I have to play the older ones to understand this? And what is the gameplay? And the story is good?
Sorry it called my atention
@@lucario5717 there is a summary in the menu, but these games are HEAVY story dialogue/character/plot twist, so sure I recommand to at least play Cold Steel 1&2 before Cold Steel 3. The best it's also to play Sky 1&2 but it's only on PSP and PC (every PC can run Sky 1&2). In Cold Steel 3 there is a event about "Hamel Town" if you have not play Sky 1&2 you will not fully understand and feel the emotion of this place. I don't know a other Jrpg serie with a amazing world building like the trails serie.
.. if you are a hardcore weeb.
@@lucario5717 I have played only the Coldsteel Saga on PS3, You could grasp better some character interactions and at least understand the Thors Military Academy part, but if you want the whole picture you would have to play Trails in the Sky Trilogy and the Crossbell Duology to understand some characters that appear there.
The RPG element is really good if you are into old RPGS of turn base and the again the story is good if you understand what these characters went through.
Can we talk about that soldier putting his gun on MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE at the start.
i thought that was funny af
Watch it again but with no sound! I literally thought he was headbanging or something. Pretty damn great!
The hype machine gun.
0:42 the lancer from gears of war appears too XD
Another JRPG. In my opinion, best genre out there.
more like the most boring and repetitive genre out there
@Vesmir nge name a JRPG that's actually original and i'll tell you why it's not

Anor Londo ikr lol
@@j.stretcher I could say the same about whatever your favourite game is lol

What about tentacles?
One of the best games i played. Totally hooked on the story too.
Female chests are WAYYY too small
Glad to see Rhea’s voice actor in another project.
Pffffft
You are correct. It is indeed Makoto Niijima.
And Claude is leading the class, again.
Sothis/Morgana as well, as Fie.
Honestly the weirdest part is, not only does she sound exactly like Rhea, this sounds like something Rhea would actually say
It's a shame the previous titles aren't on the switch
It’s a shame the the trails in the sly games aren’t on it since you need to play them to understand trails of cold steel 3
so many games, must be a lot of hours to invest
Cold steel the hedgehedge finally has a game
“pssshhhhh, nothing personnel kid.”
I love falcom I’m in .
Somehow I read your comment as "I love falcom-in' in", and was really confused/scared for a second.
I discovered this series a few months ago not expecting much and it turned out to be my favorite JRPG of all time (and that's my favorite genre which I played A LOT of games). Never saw such an intricate plot and character developement so well done, to the point that I'm struggling right now to enjoy other games because I can't help but compare them to the cold steel series. PLEASE do a favor to yourself and play Cold Steel I and II, besides from the fact that this one is a direct sequence, you will regret not playing such beautiful games.
You should play trails in the sky trilogy and Crossbell duology(vía emulation sadly). Cold steel 3 and 4 only makes sense if you play every game.
Play the sky trilogy and crossbell duology because you missed a LOT of content and worldbuilding
Play the Sky Trilogy and Crossbell Duology on PC or PSVita. Its the games prior to Cold Steel which are integral to the story and you will love
@@Aranethify you can play Crossbell on PC without emulators.
Do what the other comments are saying
Definitely getting this game
This game series is sooooo overlooked it’s sad 😔
Well with how much Nippon Ichi America mentions it, maybe not.
So true mako!
THE LEGEND OF CLASS VII BEGINS A NEW!!
this line gives me the shivers, our boy Reans all grow up man i got teary eyed at the end of the trailer so many memories with the original class VII
Anew
Thanks to all the comments recommending not buying this before playing the first two games due to the stories being extremely connected! Much appreciated, will do!
Watch the first and second through utube, totally recommended
The problem is that you also need to play the Crossbell part before this game, and for the Crossbell part, you need the Sky trilogy, so yeah, many many games, for me this one was my eighth game in the series. It is a huge plot told quite slowly.

Just played the demo some weeks ago, I need this
For this series exclusively, I buy the games on every platform I can because it deserves the support. I cannot recommend this series enough.
Starting the trailer with that vibrating ultrasonic particle accelerator soldier firing what I assume must be a fabric-of-reality-twister rifle was an interesting choice to say the least...
Thank you so much Nintendo and NIS America for bringing this to Switch!!!
One of my favs
Lets Go!!!!!
i hope they release full set of this game
The first 2 games have been announced (Japan) and Zero no Kiseki
imagine sakurai playing this game then suddenly put rean or any other rep from trails series in the future.
I would love that however I think the chances of that happening is quite low sadly.
@@feidamack2006 estelle is bestelle
james tran I think you mean Anelace and jossete is best lol
Too many swordsmen, so maybe Estelle, Schera, Crow, Millium/Altina or Lloyd for their unique choice of weapons.
Series sounds familiar but not an RPG that I have been aware of, but looks very neat and of quality. I'm digging the music, character designs, and mech suits. This will definitely be on my "to-play" list . . . after many hours more of Xenoblade, of course :)
For me it's tied with Xenoblade as my favourite game series ever! I just want to warn you going into it though that Cold Steel III is actually the 8th game in the series and that this isn't like Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, or Xenoblade in that all the games are part of one overarching story.
Here are the Trails games so far and where to get them:
Trails in the Sky - Steam
Trails in the Sky SC - Steam
Trails in the Sky the 3rd - Steam
Zero no Kiseki - PC Fan translation only but it's a translation of professional quality
Ao no Kiseki - PC Fan translation from the same team will be released in the coming months
Trails of Cold Steel - Steam/PS4
Trails of Cold Steel II - Steam/PS4
Trails of Cold Steel III - Steam/PS4/Switch
Trails of Cold Steel IV - Coming soon to Steam/PS4/Switch
Hajimari no Kiseki - Not yet released.
Don't worry about some of the older games looking dated, if you play them they actually aged really well and the story is just as good if not better then Cold Steel! I also really recommend going out of your way to play Zero and Ao, they're widely considered the best in the series.
@@Mr.Stizblee Welp, now I know where I'm starting with this series. Steam it is!
Thank you, Mr. Stizblee! I had no idea the Trails/Cold Steel games were connected.
And you sold me on the series the moment you said its tied with Xenobalde as your favorite game series (Xenoblade 1 is one of my favorite games of all time!).
Now, to add them all to my Steam wish list for future purchases 👍👍
@@WallyGX I do want to clarify that Trails is amazing for very different reasons than Xenoblade.
Xenoblade in addition to having excellent stories always has amazing open world exploration and really fun action-RPG combat.
In Trails, everything is built around the story. Where you can go at any given time depends entirely on the story. It has a turn based combat system that's pretty good, but that's never the main focus. The Trails games also have more world building than basically any other franchise, for example in Trails every NPC's dialogue changes whenever the story progresses, with many of the NPC's having their own personal worries and stories. There are also things like in universe books and newspapers you can read that provide a lot of forshadowing, and while there aren't quite as many as in Xenoblade there are plenty of sidequests in each game that are usually more well written and memorable than in Xenoblade.
So yeah, Trails is very story focused. It's to the point where each individual game in the series typically has more text than the entire Lord of the Rings book trilogy!
@@Mr.Stizblee Oh cool! I think I'm getting to understand what the Trails series has to offer. Thanks again, Mr. Stizblee!
Everything you said is right up my alley. I like the idea of the game revolving around story and each NPC having their own concerns (as well as adapting what they say depending on what is happening in the story) sounds really cool to me.
I just got done playing Dragon Quest 11 so I'm hoping to find some series I might have missed and Trails looks to be a good one.
Also, more words than the entire Lords of the Rings trilogy?!? That's nuts! But that means a lot of care went into making these games.
@@WallyGX oh and btw, bi suggest you to start with the beginning of the trails series; Trails In the Sky. Story is pretty great, i'm sure you would want to see all the great story coming together piece by piece in each game
Honestly now considering double dipping, already played this on ps4 after first 2 games, and am just now starting Trails in the sky, probably my favorite series atm since discovering it last year, and having it on the go would be good, lol, but glad it's at least coming to Nintendo even if it's just the 3rd one, really good series, and hearing Rean again is always awesome, and the other characters of course
The Trails series is amazing, for me the best JRPG series there is, it is incredibly good. But it is huge, and playing Cold Steel III first can feel really odd, as it is connected to many previous games and there are a lot of references to characters and situations from the other games, references you will enjoy if you played those. So this feels like an odd release, it is not a good starting point. Go and read about the series, and get Sky for the PC. You will not regret the adventure of going through all the games, even if it sounds really tough at first. No series of videogames does world building and character development like this one.
so many games, must be a lot of hours to invest
If you don't care much about graphics, but enjoy great world building and gameplay, get all 4 of these games (they're on PC and PS4 too). Also check out the Ys series.
I'M EXCITED
never heard of this before, but when I saw the title in the thumbnail I completely thought it was called "trails of III cold steel" for a minute
Oh, you right.
For people interested in this series I just want to tell you that I can't recommend it enough, they're easily tied with Xenoblade for my favourite video game series! The Trails games are an amazing overarching story and they have more world building then any other story I've seen, RPG or no!
I just want to warn you going into it though that Cold Steel III is actually the 8th game in the series and that this isn't like Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, or Xenoblade in that all the games are part of one massive overarching story.

I highly recommend playing all the games in order including the unlocalised ones because each entry in the series is absolutely amazing. Don't worry about how dated some of the older games look, they actually aged really well and their stories are just as good, if not better than the recent Cold Steel games!
I just finished cold steel (1) on ps4, got cold steel II ready, but will play the sky trilogy first(was on sale on steam) and i agree this series are better than i expected
I played trails SC and still on havent finished it, then i tried to play cold steel demo on switch.. god damn, i'm overwhelmed by story, skills, characters, and amount of number of hp and damage. It feels like i playing gen 2 pokemon and skipped to gen 7 games, the animation is nice but i dont have clue tf happening hahah.
@@jonathanyehezkiel2528 There are a lot of call backs to the earlier games in Cold Steel III and I highly recommend playing all the earlier games first. Also did you play the first Trails in the sky game before SC? Because the two games were originally developed as one big game so just playing SC is like jumping into a game at the halfway point in the story.
I'm confused. Is this a Triple A game, or an indie game meant to resemble a Triple A game?
@@deniseslade5840 It's from Falcom, one of the oldest and most influential game companies that nonetheless isn't mega-rich. Seriously though, this company basically invented the concept of action RPGs with Dragon Slayer in 1984, that's how big an influence they've had on the industry. So to actually answer your question, It's definitely not an indie game but it's not like they had the budget of Final Fantasy or Breath of the Wild.
Anyway these graphics are quite a bit better than any of the previous games. Don't let them taint your opinion.
Tryna playthrough the series and catch up since I been missing out lol
Still waiting on 4
Looks so hecking good oh my gosh
I played 1 on psvita, just bought 2 on ps4 and ordered 3 for switch online yesterday. Got next week set up for a 3 day leave. I'm ready.

probably best to play them though, right?

Should i play the first 2 games before this one?
Are the 1st two games on the Switch? Because I'd totally buy them if that's the case.
The first two game can be found on Steam, otherwise they can be found on the Vita and the PS4 respectively
I will not stop playing the demo

I definitely recommend the Trails series! I hope bringing it to the Switch can help grow the audience 🥰

I wish they were allowed to bring over Cold Steel 1 and 2 since they’re very important to Cold Steel 3. It’s not often we get as many direct RPG continuations and this is the series’ debut on a Nintendo system. Not to mention the switch is also getting 4 next year, which is the conclusion of the Cold Steel subseries
Xseed has to allow for that, 3 and 4 are NIS America but i do wish 1 and 2 or at the very least remake both and bring those to Switch.
and anotherone of those " i didnt knew that the switch version has a backlog story for 1 and 2 in it where you can read through all the events of 1 and 2 + character informations" comments -_-

Guys. Please keep in mind that this game is not standalone by any means. To understand the story, start from Cold Steel and for the maximum experience start from Trails in the Sky trilogy, then Zero and Azure before you start the cold steel series. Richard L that’s not even enough but ok.
Never played the first or the second one am I missing out?
Considering this is a direct sequel you are indeed missing out. See if you can get the games on PC. They can run on anything if you set the settings low enough
Missing out almost everything. It is what makes the series appealing, though, the huge story and character development.
Damn i guess I'll play those first before buying this one on the switch. Appreciate the comments thanks.
why is everyone telling him that he missing out? trails of cold steel 3 (iunno if ToCS3 has it on pc too) on switch has the backlog story of 1 and 2 o.O he could simply read through all the events of 1 and 2 and even reading all the infos about the characters in 1 and 2 etc. that is if he has the motivation to read a lot but ... since not all dialogues are voiced in the 3rd game either and he would need to read a lot am i pretty sure that he has no issues with that =x

Falcom doesn’t support the switch NISA are the ones porting them and you’ll need to ask AKSYS games to port that
Cute Altina thumbnail
Noob question: this series looks intriguing. Should i just get this game or is there a first game out there that i should start?
For the full on experience of the Cold Steel saga (Erebonian Arc), I suggest you start with Cold Steel I & II available on Steam / PS Store. It helps that you start with CS I since with each entry, there's always an addition to the battle system so going blind into CS III can be very overwhelming.
For the full experience I highly recommend starting in Trails in the Sky FC and playing the series in chronological order.
If you have a Vita or a PC you can play the games all the prior games with ease.
Damn, the new 3 Houses DLC looks dope!
This game originally came out in Japan 2 years before 3 Houses
