I love WCW vs. the World, it's the best wrestling game on the PS1, imo. As a kid, I just wish it had a tag-team mode...with that it would've been perfect.
Tag-Team matches were definitely missing. Would've been awesome to have exhibition tag matches and some Tag-Team Tournament/Round Robin modes. Create a Tag-Team belt. And they definitely had some Tag-Teams in this game for sure
That’s why toukon retsuden 3 is way better; besides tag team matches, you have blood, green mist, an ending with an fmv sequence, entrances with their real theme songs… there’s just no comparison, toukon 3 all the way!!! Even better than wwf smackdown 2 because there are many more moves and ground techniques
*One of the most underrated WCW games....this game was the game that kicked off the WCW/NWO Revenge vibes even tho WCW VS NWO WORLD tour came out first but you get my point....i still own a copy and plays this game regularly*
This is virtual wrestling one, virtual wrestling 64, and virtual wrestling 2 in Nintendo 64 got localized as wcw and later wwf; which kinda sucked because they removed mma and kickboxing from the game besides the graphics being toned down and also less customizations options
Benoit can go to hell. I want to give him credit for being a good wrestler, but it's hard to just look passed what he did. R.I.P. Woman and the young son
I bought this game from either KB Toys or Electronics Boutique just from looking at the cover. I ALMOST bought Fire-Pro Wrestling Returns the same way years later. This game was a fun play. Even though it was 1v1, I got a lot of playtime out of it.
It's Ken Shamrock, before he went to WWF. His moveset is from his UWF/Pancrase days as a shoot fighter, but it's definitely him. No idea why they gave him that Disco Inferno picture lol, my guess is that they did this not to be in trouble over copyright or stuff like that (same reason they gave a weird profile picture of a bald dude to Terry Funk that clearly doesn't look like him at all), but it's Ken Shamrock for sure.
@@jonathanturbide2232 good call. That's crazy AKI put Ken Shamrock in a video game before most if not all. The name that always got me on this game was "Overdose". Clearly, us wrestling fans, across the globe, knew who that was. What a shot at him. R.I.P Hawk
I remember when Funco land didn’t get games in until release day. I remember going to the store on release waiting there for the UPS truck to come. Brutal wait time
This game is the start of the AKI Pro-Wrestling Dynasty in the U.S. It lacked what WCW/nWo World Tour, Revenge, WM 2000, and No Mercy brought, but it still started it all here. I've never played it, I've only seen gameplay, but VPW2 was also a GOAT 🐐 worth mentioning
The issue is that neither Ken Shamrock nor Disco Inferno used the Sleeperhold as a finisher. Shamrock's finisher has basically been his signature Ankle Lock finisher for as long as I can remember. As for Disco Inferno, I think his has basically been a cutter/stunner.
*@Linchpin_TF* there were guys who's kick combos were great. In game wise, Akira had great kick combos, the suplex as his finish after such devastating kicks was like "what?" LOL
*@Linchpin_TF* I saw in the videos you posted and remembered. Maybe when I owned this game years back, it was a mystery to me too. Hence the name "???" I wonder if I thought he was Psichosis or something. Idk
*@Linchpin_TF* I believe I have one. Originally I bought the PS1 memory card thinking it would be needed for Power Moves Pro-Wrestling, but I didn't. So, if this game is compatible for PS2, that's a plus for me to have that card
Imagine if they kept this series going on PS1 instead of moving to N64 exclusively. This series would have probably kept on going to this day. Would have sold many times more on the PS1 for sure. No Mercy was a better game than Smackdown 2 but SD2 certainly outsold it many times over which is probably why the AKI games ended while the Smackdown/SVR/WWE/2K games survived to this day.

And you're punishing yourself for no reason, missing out on great Pro-Wrestling video games. He's in HCTP. I either move him to a different show in season mode, or beat the 🐕 💩 outta him, like he deserves.

After this, Pro-Wrestling video games could never be the same
I absolutely loved this game as a kid. Wish I still had it

It's crazy how many moves didn't transition to the later AKI titles. I loved this game during the time.
But I like how you did this video.
FINISH HIM!
thanks.
Not only that but why didn't the N64 games have the ring mat varieties that this one did?!?
It’s interesting to see what animations were carried over to the N64 games and which ones weren’t
*14:49* I have no idea who this wrestler was either. I thought Sherlock was Disco too, but seeing that moveset, it can't be him.
