This and VPW 2 are the greatest wresting games from the greatest era of professional wrestling.
There is a YTer by the name of Amitydeen that has a saved file for VPW2 where he re did the unlicensed characters to look like their real counterparts. Another robust roster

The 4th guy in Inoki’s hidden slot is actually “Monster Man” Everett Eddy. He wears Eddy’s signature yellow gloves and black gi pants by default. Eddy fought Inoki twice in the late 70’s.

I ordered this probably in 1997 and as 14 15 16 yr olds my friends and I spent YEARS playing this..no mercy and wm 2000 meant nothing to us because of this masterpiece

I got both VPW 64 games, and I’m actually going to use this video as a point of reference for when I rename my characters. I bought the special screwdriver, I did that technique of using old cartridges to fit into my system, and I started to play this for a little bit- until I had shit to do later. My mind is still blown that I can edit the characters! If I had this game growing up, I would’ve never played world tour
Steven Rainmaker If you see the game, the Hiragana and Katakana text for the Japanese and Gaijin wrestlers are different, so the English text is the representations of the wrestlers in real life while the Katakana and Hiragana text from the wrestlers from the Japanese promotions represent their game counterparts.

Yes man they got all their wrestling legends plus wcw/nwo wrestlers too. This game is too awesome for doing dream matches between Japanese wrestlers and wcw wrestlers for me. I came to know lately about this game and i swear that i would have started playing this game rather than its U.S. couterpart.

Literally the only reason why Wcw Revenge wasnt the best AKI 64 game out of all 5 games released was because there was no Ric Flair.
If Revenge had Flair, it would be 100% complete imo. The roster, the speed, and the perfect gameplay would have put it above the WWF games

A shot in the dark here, but do you have any advice on how to get this game to work on an emulator? VPW2 works fine on PJ64, but this one has a black screen for me. I've tried mupen also and no luck, just crashes.
To be honest, I have not tried emulating this game. From what I know, emulating through everdrives works perfectly, or buying the game and making your system region free like I did works too. Thankfully, this game and VPW2 are cheap.
Happens to me too, but flickering instead of black screens.

Question: Did you have to edit some of the fighters to make them look more like their supposed to? I wiped the memory off a copy I just bought to get rid of some annoying edits and Jushin Liger isn't wearing his jumpsuit.
Yes. You have to edit them to look like what I got here. The channel Wrestling Video Games has a good guide for edits. The DAW and ILW don't need much for edits since it's nearly identical to the DOA and IU in WCW vs nWo World Tour.

How do you unlock Dynamite Kid? I battled him in championship mode as Wild Pegasus, but couldn't get him for use after I won.

If you want a mix between MMA and Wrestling but want character creation, use Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 with the English patch. This game does not have character creation, only editing existing ones's outfits.
How can I save beside Champion Road? Like when I edited some of the names, how do I save to my controller pak? I
You can save when you go to the Options menu, like in WCW vs nWo World Tour.
Cain Abelstein Sorry,, can you please go into detail? In Champion Road I do have the Save Option in the options menu. But in the normal options I do have something called player data, but I can't do anything there.
Strange thing is: when I boot the game the first time with no data on controller pak it shows me some text at the start screen with two options, I don't know what it means. Then I play and save in Champion Road. Whne I reboot sometimes I get this message again (maybe if I want to load from controller pak?). Sometimes my progress from Champion road is there. But then next all my data in game seems lost or mot loaded but there is a file on the controller pak.
Do I have to load it somewhere? I am not sure if my game has issues. Or dpes the game save to the game itself and maybe the battery is empty?
Make sure you have a memory card with 41 blocks available.
I have. It shows me the file in the controller pak menu and there's nothing else on there. Is there a save option supposed to be in the options menu which I can get to from the main menu? There's just "Player data" but I can't do anything there. When I save in the options from Champion Road i get a message which I think confirms that data is saved. But maybe I do something wrong when booting up the game. There are the messages i don't understand and i have to options before proceeding to the main menu
So I did a test: when I save via the CR Save menu which shows the game pak and rest the console, I start from the save. But whe I turn the console off, it starts from scratch. I guess that means the battery is empty.

you have black tiger 2 wrong. use eddie's outfit but just make it black and the sides of pants either white or gold. yeah i know his boots end up staying white but technically that's how black tiger 2 looked. if you want the most realism that is.

Where'd you get the one with the characters in emglish?
When you go to edit them, there are choices for text you can choose from. Kanji, Katakana, and Romaji. Romaji is basically English.

There's an option to switch it in English. It's very easy to figure what is what in the edits when tinkering about.

That's Great Muta, who has to be unlocked using Mutoh.
