    I greatly appreciate everyone for checking out the video. Would be interested to hear other considerations for fishing inlets. Tight lines!

      Thanks! I haven't fished Barnegat until this video so it was all new to me. Lots of great spots to explore in and around that inlet.

    Hi Rich, Great informational video. That's a very busy inlet and a tough place to fish in a kayak. Take care and good luck, Mickey

      Thanks Mickey! It was an interesting location and has dozens of interesting locations to try right within the same area.

      Hi Rich, It takes a few trips in the same area to get a feel for the good spots. I find it interesting to explore a new area to find the good spots. Take care and good luck, Mickey

      That's what makes all this worth it! Hope to help as much as I can. I'm not perfect but when things are working (or not working) I'll share to help someone else.

      I really appreciate the feedback and hope you've found some value in different videos. I'm posting a new video on Thursday showing backwater fluke fishing with 3 keepers up to 25 inches. I explain each of three spots I fished in the video.

    Fat Dad, you broke the cardinal rule of UA-camr fishers: you burned the spot! You showed us how! Exactly! NOBODY does that - and I follow a lot of great channels. Of course, I am being sarcastic and wish everyone would do, but I also understand why they do not. Thanks so much. We just got back from fishing the south jetty today and only managed one small sea bass (thrown back, of course). No tog, no trigger fish, no sheepshead, no fluke - despite the fact that all reports saying they are jumping out of the water and into folks' coolers. Again, joking, but you get the point. There is so much more to showing up and fishing a spot, even if you do everything right. Luck, yeah, but specific knowledge. Thanks so much for sharing what you know. I do wish more would do that - watching guys catch fish gets boring after awhile. I want to learn, too, and experiment with what I see here. THANKS! :-) Subbed, my man.

      Your comment is what its all about! I do this to try to help others get more fish more often. I'm not claiming to be the guru of all things fishing, but I do know some things and I very much want to help people benefit from what I learn. BTW, most of my videos have very specific information on how I chose a spot, however its not really about the actual spot itself. I'm trying to help people understand factors to consider when choosing their own spots. Hopefully it helps some people. Thanks for the comment and the sub!

    Just a technical point on the the 22” fluke. Even though it was what I term a NMN (No Measurment Needed), by law you are supposed to measure on the white side . The reason being the brown side is fatter thus you do not get a true liner measurement.

      Thank you Andrew. I actually use a bump board when its close and just figured it would be better for the video if I used the tape. But, thank you for pointing it out. By the way, really love reading your reports on Facebook. I appreciate the information you share.

    When you catch fish, what is your preferred way to store them? Just a bag of ice you keep in a compartment? Cooler? Line in water? Thanks.

    • @FatDadFishing
      @FatDadFishing  3 роки тому

      At this point I've just been using a normal cooler bag to store fish. I just bleed them and throw them on ice. I'm not a fan of using stringers. The bag I use cost $15 at Wegmans grocery store and has held up to a 36" striped bass. (doubled over)

    We fished that exact spot when the current was too strong to be out at the entrance (we were in our power boat). Got a couple of keepers from there. Where did you launch the yak?

    • @FatDadFishing
      @FatDadFishing  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment. It's a nice spot to fish to get out of the traffic and current of the main channel...and the additional structure on the bottom makes it an excellent spot to target fluke! On tht day I launched from the Dog Beach just south of the inlet. It was an easy peddle over to the inlet.

    Is that a Native kayak?
    Been catching a ton of sea robins, black sea bass and small fluke

      My kayak is an Old Town Big Water PDL. It's the same hull as the Predator but has a few different upgrades on it. As the name says, its a champ in big waters and handles inlets, wakes, and waves.
