Eufy Cameras Reset Issue Finally FIXED?

  • Today, I tested the infamous Eufy Reset - Auto Delete Recordings issue and see if Eufy have fixed it. This is one of the frequent complaints of users that have the Eufy Homebase. If someone is able to get hold of the camera or the video doorbell and pushes the sync button for a few seconds, the camera gets deleted in the app and also all of its recordings.... I heard that this was finally fixed by Eufy..so we will test it.

    What’s ridiculous is for YEARS Eufy kept gaslighting people by saying this was a “security feature”.

    My eufy cameras used to love them, suggested to many. Was so thrilled. They have been nothing but a mess for the past 2-3 years. Got new ones even worse. Home base 3 half the time just deletes most footage of the cameras if they even record half the time and often have to delete and be reset.

    I recently had to replace a Homebase 3 (S380) that had failed. I moved the SSD into the new hub and when pairing the cameras all the related videos became available.

    Wished my s40 lasted as long as yours. Bought mine in March 2022 from Lowes. Been replaced 3 times with the last unit being a pretty scratched up refurbished unit which finally went permanently offline 2 days ago. The warranty process with that unit was horrible to say the least. I just bought a s340 from Amazon and installed it this morning...been on the phone and on chat with Eufy support 4 times already because the unit will not solar charge. I have over 15 Eufy cameras (all very reliable EufyCam, EC2 PROs, and 2c models with a couple of doorbell cameras) so I'm not new to this. I have to figure out what do do next as I need a proper replacement for the s40. I do not trust Eufy's warranty process (I don't want to pay full price for a "refurb") and Amazon can only refund upon return. I have to buy a new unit and hope for the best continuing to waste my time dealing with flawed products.

    The Eufy 2c camera keeps going offline, reset the camera, still does not work. Found this is a common issue on Reddit. Does anyone else have the same issue.

    I’ve also got one S40 earlier this year that has a slightly different solar panel, and it looks more rugged and durable. I have yet to use it outdoor since I’ve been moving it around indoors

    I have the same issue with solar panel that is peeling. I have not scratched off the coating but was able to resolve the charging issue by changing battery setting to "Optimal Battery Lide" under Power Manager. It took several days but the camera slowly recharged and has been mainaining near 100% charge capacity.

    How about stolen camera protections - if someone steals your camera, make sure they can't activate it unless it's been released from your Eufy account. Is this not a thing yet? I don't see any details stating that there's theft activation protections...

      Still just don't trust Eufy - security and quality issues, and lack of honest communication. They are slow to learn!!!

      True.. but I haven't tested it...but if it is not, they can easily implement it because the camera when resetted and added again, it remembers or its SN associates with the older footage.

    Thank you very much, you really had a lot of problems.
    Can you check about AI detection and notice that there are many problems with eufy cameras that change detection and photo?

      I haven't had issues with AI detection on mine. They are pretty spot on.

    What about the solo ptz indoor camera that aren't linked to the base station 2/3? Can you still view them and the footage from the eufy app? After a reset button pressed?

    So in theory if one of my Eufy s330 cameras that's hooked to my HB3 is stolen. All I need to do is get another replacement camera and my footage will be restored once I pair it with the HB3 again?

    I am having so much trouble getting my camera connected to my WiFi. I’ve tried holding it right next to it and it won’t.

    My Eufy 2 stopped working the base says it’s restarting I lose my cameras every time wondering what is causing this issue

    Hey LH… Just yesterday I reset my hibernated S40 without any HB. The LED blinks but no sound so it couldn’t reconnect to my network. So I did another reset by pressing (not holding) the Sync button repeatedly until the blue LED blinks faster for a couple of seconds, then it works again. Just curious if this method would yield anything from the HB, since I do not have a HB to try on… Good to know your S40 is coming to 3 years. Mine is still below 2 years and already showing signs of death.

    should make it so reseting can't be done just by pressing the button on the camera, but must be deleted from the account before it can be added to another account.

      @@abc123fhdi Fully agreed, cameras should be locked to an account until deleted. Way too easy to steal if you know how they operate (even with anti-theft enabled).

    All of my EufyCam S330s have eventually died in that the solar panel stopped recharging the battery. The only way I have found to keep the battery charged without constantly climbing a ladder is to add an external solar panel

      Sorry to hear that. It initially happened to my Eufy Cam 3 end of 2023 but cleaning the solar panel and topped it off with AC charge eventually revived it and it is working without issues currently.

    Now can they fix it that when you start viewing live video the cameras will still record. I don’t like that my cameras will not record a motion if i happen to be viewing live. I wouldn’t be quick enough to press the record button. Nor should i have to because I set up motion detection recording.

    Question: ive upgraded my floodlight cam 2 pro to the e340 floodlight. I want to removed tbe old cam from the app but want to be sure i retain all the old footage. Whats the best way tondo this? Remove camera from the app, reset camera from the app or reset camera from the camera itself (hold sync button)? Thanks in advance

      Just got off the chat with Eufy and your footage is STILL married to the physical camera. So if your remove/reset it from the app your footage will be removed along with it. Their only soln offered was to DL footage to your phone 1x1. I cant think of a piece of tech tbat has intentionally had this flaw/feature.

      homebase 2 is not compatible with any solocams, its only compatible with eufycam 2 2c and 2c pro and 2 series.

    Go beyond the range of the homebase with the camera and then check if the recordings are still ...

      Do you really think that a thief who comes and steals the camera, resets it, and runs away will wait within the base station's range until you wake up and copy all the recordings? The recordings are supposed to stay on the base station, not on the camera. Isn't that the purpose of these devices?

      @@setarifsetarithe problem was before.. if someone steals your cameras, you will have no way to access the footage from the app or any other way because the camera is deleted in the app…that means all of the cameras footage are gone…so they don’t even have to reset it…and that’s even when the recordings are in the hub…this is well known issue with eufy which they now have addressed.
