No one ever talks about little Nog losing to Sokoudjou, that by far is one of biggest upsets. Definately in the top 5 upsets, if not, the #1 upset for me
You can blame this one on the punchers chance. A guy as strong as Sokoudjou just needs to connect one good angle and it's light's out. I personally find it much more upsetting when a champ gets decidedly beat, and its just clear that the other fighter had a more skilful performance (see Nunes or GSP)

I can agree with the #1 pick. Matt Serra still had a wealth of experience to draw from in comparison with Peña, even if his fight was just as seemingly hopeless against GSP. Peña's upset against Amanda truly felt cosmic in every regard
I’m surprised Bisping v Rockhold 2 wasn’t on here. Bisping was short notice, got ko’d in the first fight, and legit only had one eye n still pulled it off by ko
The way I see it, what I do to measure and evaluate how big of an upset a fight was, is that I imagine myself going back in time and telling past me the result; how I'd respond. That's why I think Gonzaga v Cro-cop is the greatest. I was ten thousand percent sure Mirko would come and dominate the UFC, I was a pride evangelist and couldn't shut up about the talent in Japan. I hyped up everyone I knew to watch it and told them how superior and more taxing and higher level the grand prix system was, kept saying his fight with Fedor in 2005 was the greatest fight ever, taught them about the Left Leg Cemetery stuff, showed his face off with the Axe Murderer and the KO... and etc... I can understand putting Nunes vs. Pena at #1 instead of gsp-sera..both the rematches proved that they were fluke upsets, but the biggest thing to consider is that nunes established herself as the GWOAT by the time she fought pena. Gsp was a fresh new champion and gained GOAT status after retaining. Adesanya-strickand deserves to be in the top 5 though..
It’s a good point but I would disagree because you could still see SOME path to win for Peña if she was aggressive used her wrestling even though it was a slim chance. Matt Serra ve GSP Matt literally had no way to win he as a Ju Jitzu guy with ok wrestling short reach etc and Matt Hughes couldn’t even take down GSP like there was no way for Serra to win
Great video. But you seem to think bookies choose their odds based on past performances. They don't. Their odds are based on how much money has been bet. So if a fighter is -600, it means a lot of money has gone on that fighter and the bookies are trying to limit potential losses. And if more and more money goes on the fighter, the odds go lower and lower.
Even if andersons record gets beat i doubt anyone will do it as well as he did, it was truly special to watch that man perform and nobody has the same aura as prime anderson imo.
man, I've been an mma fan for a long time and was a huge fan of Pride, Mirko being my favorite. I convinced some friends to check out mma and was going on and on about how my boy Mirko was about to tear through the division and be the new champ in no time 😑
Holm knocking out Rhonda is still one of my favorite and most satisfying UFC knockouts ever! That, Hendo flat-lining Bisping, and both Dillashaw KOs of Cody!
Grasso can actually box to back up her grappling and bjj. She Weidman'd the champ. I know she didn't look that flashy coming up, but it became more and more evident later on even when she lost. Not sure how people didn't see that.
I may be misremembering, but is this the first video that includes LIVE fight footage and not just screenshots? 9:40 with the Anderson/Weidman 1 knockout
One thing that people get stuck up on when talking upsets is gambling odds. But there's a difference between an upset on the books, and the size of an upset in perception.
Lil Nog vs Sokoudjou? Randleman vs Cro Cop? Lawal vs Newton? Griffin vs Shogun? Griffin vs Jardine? Liddell vs Jardine? Liddell vs Couture? Alexander vs Jardine? I’m sure there’s more that I haven’t mentioned that aren’t as well known to many fans.
Nate vs Conor 1 is always my favourite upset fight. I was at an outdoor Irish drinking garden when everyone lost their shit that their favourite lost and I'm imitating Diaz with my arms up, flexin 😂
Underdog on how much, i really don't care.. Me and 3 of my buddies always had a conversations about Izzy and Sean Strickland way before the fight. We always thought that he might be the only one who could crack Izzy without even trying (i think it's around after the Izzy Vs Perreira 2 fight). I don't disagree that he's the underdog, but we always predict and think that Sean is the one who would beat Izzy for a very long time.
I feel like couture Liddell should have got at least an honorable mention. The fact that couture beat Liddell at his own game in his prime was so wild.
i'm of the opinion that no fighter will ever be able to break the older winstreaks of people like silva because fighters have quite simply gotten too good
Its becoming a serious question now if newer champions can even get let alone break the title defense record of their respective divisions. Really the only fighter who is even coming close to the divisional GOAT, is Volk at 145 as the man is built different but even then we don't know if the next guy (Topuria) is gonna beat him or not.

Cro Cop vs Randleman considered a upset or just a surprise since it was a left hook vs the best MMA kickboxer at the time
No mention for DDP vs Whittaker? I can’t think of a single person who had Du Sexy in that fight
You finally got to use the actual footage of those fights.
Great
I can agree with the #1 pick. Matt Serra still had a wealth of experience to draw from in comparison with Peña, even if his fight was just as seemingly hopeless against GSP. Peña's upset against Amanda truly felt cosmic in every regard
What? Peña had been in the UFC since 2013. She was at pretty much the same experience level as Serra when they won their titles.
It felt like the earth stopped turning when Pena beat Nunes. Never in a million years could you have predicted it.
I’m surprised Bisping v Rockhold 2 wasn’t on here. Bisping was short notice, got ko’d in the first fight, and legit only had one eye n still pulled it off by ko
18 year old me still remembers that moment live when Gonzaga sent Mirko to the Shadow Realm...CHILLS
I hyped up everyone I knew to watch it and told them how superior and more taxing and higher level the grand prix system was, kept saying his fight with Fedor in 2005 was the greatest fight ever, taught them about the Left Leg Cemetery stuff, showed his face off with the Axe Murderer and the KO... and etc...
If I told past me not only the result but also how it would happen, past me would laugh present me all the way to the psych ward.
Dan Henderson vs the last emperor
I remember watching Usman vs. Edwards II and my jaw hit the floor the same time Usman’s did. I never thought Leon had a chance to pull it off. Absolutely wild upset.
Crazy how I attended 4 of the biggest upsets in ufc history and my first even ever was #1. I remember Juliana finishing Amanda was just ridiculous everybody in the arena went crazy
🫵🏻 u bad luck
We can be anything on the internet!
What 4 upsets did you attend?
@@mfc5808
Nunes vs. pena 1
Edwards vs. usman 2
Schevcheno vs. grasso
Rose vs Esparza.
My favorite moment I’ve seen live will always be the edwards knock out. That moment was so unexpected and crazy
@@davidmanzano9050 that’s so cool! You were there for some great moments!
Great video
I dont know if anyone has noticed that we have clips to enjoy with the commentary thats amazing
This list is the undisputed champion of UA-cam MMA Videos
Carla beating Rose when she already had a finish win over her is a bigger upset than Bisping KOing Rockhold on 17 day notice when he got headkicked and choked out in their first fight???
Idk who picked the entries but wtf
I literally thought jason had left the channel i feel like its been so long
He's narrated several videos recently
He’s the boss (no literally)
@@gudea5207I thought Tony Danza was the boss. 🤔
@@JohnbobonI always thought it was Angela, but Community has a great episode breaking down that debate
Good list, can see a point
the about different viewing angles with dat guy who couldnt see straight was nutz 😆
That twitter dig😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dj is emphatically goat status 100%
Yup I totally agree with that no.1

What he had in his back pocket was Frank Shamrock.
Positive comment
Great video. But you seem to think bookies choose their odds based on past performances. They don't. Their odds are based on how much money has been bet. So if a fighter is -600, it means a lot of money has gone on that fighter and the bookies are trying to limit potential losses. And if more and more money goes on the fighter, the odds go lower and lower.
Even if andersons record gets beat i doubt anyone will do it as well as he did, it was truly special to watch that man perform and nobody has the same aura as prime anderson imo.
As you said it's because of his accomplishments that makes it such an unbelievable upset.
Holms celebration after KOing Rhonda is my top UFC moment ever
Y'all should do a non-title fight upsets
Bisping vs Rockhold 2 is easily a top 5 upset given the circumstances
man, I've been an mma fan for a long time and was a huge fan of Pride, Mirko being my favorite. I convinced some friends to check out mma and was going on and on about how my boy Mirko was about to tear through the division and be the new champ in no time 😑
Nice video, boys. 🎉
Can you guys do a video on “Does Izzy deserve a rematch”. Seems to be back and forth in the community
Holm knocking out Rhonda is still one of my favorite and most satisfying UFC knockouts ever!
That, Hendo flat-lining Bisping, and both Dillashaw KOs of Cody!
Personally I think TJ vs. Renan should be much higher
Where would you rank Saku vs Royce? Or Renzo?
Not really an upset bc sak was already beating Gracies.
I don’t understand how you can have grasso vs shevshenko as a bigger upset than Usman vs Edwards. Edward should be way higher
Calling a person winning a fight a fluke is the joke, not the odds. It's a win.
One thing that people get stuck up on when talking upsets is gambling odds. But there's a difference between an upset on the books, and the size of an upset in perception.
I'm not sure what the difference is. The odds are based on the public's perception.
Nice 1
I still put gsp v serra at no. 1, but Pena v Nunes I think is acceptable
Lil Nog vs Sokoudjou?
Randleman vs Cro Cop?
Lawal vs Newton?
Griffin vs Shogun?
Griffin vs Jardine?
Liddell vs Jardine?
Liddell vs Couture?
Alexander vs Jardine?
I’m sure there’s more that I haven’t mentioned that aren’t as well known to many fans.
damn, i was in attendance for two of the fights on this list lol
Great Video 🙊🤯🥰😍💐🌟🥇🏆
The timestamps showing Fedor vs Vegeta has me crying lol
Just a heads up the header for the shevchenko grasso section it says nunes v grosso
Just registered on 4ra! Pichle saal maza aaya tha, is saal to aur bhi upar level hai 🌟
Holly vs Rhonda being such a "huge upset" blows it way out of proportion. Anyone that wasn't a casual knew that Holly was way out of her league.
i'm of the opinion that no fighter will ever be able to break the older winstreaks of people like silva because fighters have quite simply gotten too good
Kamaru was close though
@@Cc81727 extremely. he got figured out just in time though
I honestly think prime Silva would dominate even in todays MW.
@@jasonaderholt4307 silva eats vettori for sure
Its becoming a serious question now if newer champions can even get let alone break the title defense record of their respective divisions. Really the only fighter who is even coming close to the divisional GOAT, is Volk at 145 as the man is built different but even then we don't know if the next guy (Topuria) is gonna beat him or not.
