As soon as I installed the PRL HVI, CEL came on also disabled Rev match. I think it’s the evap purge fitting that came with the PRL that may be an issue. I might consider the mishimoto as it reuses the oem purge fitting 🤷♂️
Well it's installed. Anybody want to buy a radio cuz i sure as hell won't be needing it anymore ! HA! Sounds so freaking good ! Thanks Mike for the advice to put the top rubber piece on the Mishi box BEFORE putting the box in. Helped out ALOT. Good stuff homie
@@GridZilla yes yes yes ! ....but I'm a little worried about that rubber hose that's rubbing on the left side of the mishi box, just under the MAF sensor plug. I'll have to keep an eye on it for wear and adjust if needed. I already forced the box as far right as I could while screwing everything in, but it wasn't enough. I've seen pics on civicx.com of some wear on the hose in that spot. We shall see. It's definitely faster though HAHA!
Sounds so good Michael Baxi Media!! I would love to do that intake on my Type R when it gets here!! It will be here within a couple months!! I can’t wait!! Great video brother!! Have a great weekend and God bless ya!!🚙🙏🏻
jim payne no more than there already was. Heatsoak is an issue with almost every single modern 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engine. That will be getting stressed for sure.
The CTR can be ran safely on stock tune and an intake? Around how much is this intake? I really wish the stock CTR had more turbo and bov/wastegate sound.
Kendogg you can find them for right around $400 and yes you can run on a stock tune. Sound is great one installed. Power gains on a dyno with a mild tune were awesome too!
I’m an old guy, I’m not as interested in the sound of the turbo/ blow off valve as I am with increased performance. Does it increase pull at higher RPM’s and can you feel it? I also read the afe takeda air intake may cause a bit of heat soak when tracking it. I do not want to waste $330 if so.Thanks for any comment you can give me.
I hear ya Tim. The sound was a bonus for me and definitely one of my goals but I will never put a performance part that decreases performance in my car and if I find that it does I will remove it and find another solution. Having said that, to answer your question, yes I felt a difference in how hard it pulls with the Mishimoto intake. Your mileage may vary depending on how sensitive your butt dyno is but the absolute biggest bang for the buck will be the Ktuner V2 which I also have installed. It's not cheap but you will not get a larger gain in HP for the dollar than the tune and the difference in feel is huge! Best part for you is you can skip the intake (unwanted sound) and spend the money on a Ktuner for your CTR. only thing is now you are talking about $899 vs $330. Made a video on that as well. Check it out! and thanks for watching!
@@GridZilla You can def feel it at first but the ECU has a torque target and will learn around it. The only way to keep the gain is to get the ECU cracked and get Hondata or Ktuner. I got it pretty much exclusively for the sound and was not let down, you can hear every bit of the turbo sucking and blowing off now when you get into boost. The only flaw of the car as it comes stock is the lack of noise imo so this thing adds that little missing piece and it's great.I'll prob add an IC, catted downpipe, tune and call it good. 350 whp and a bit more sound will turn it into probably the best all around daily driver ever produced.
So what was the reason choosing Mishimoto over other Intake like Injen or AFI or other?? Need one too for my CRT but all i have in mind is that Red Injen Intake for the budget
Ive hear good things about the AFE intake. I've heard people actually lose horsepower and get too much heat soak with the Injen and PRL type intakes. Takeda, Mishimoto and Eventuri were all on my radar but I didn't want to spend $1500 on an intake and I liked the way the Mishimoto looked better. Plus I knew down the line that I would be getting other Mishimoto products so I wanted things to match. Snorkel type intakes or open chamber intakes don't do well in the CTR. The systems with a box all do better and that all comes down to heat soak.
A drop in k&n filter sounds exactly the same. And its 60$ I haven’t found actual definitive proof installing an aftermarket intake is worth it. So for now. All set. I had a mishimoto intake on my 2017 si cause it did actually make a difference. On the r. Not so sure.
Hey Michael I have a question for you maybe you can answer it. I picked up that hondata. Flashed the 91 base map. Which one is necessary to use the afm/maf calibration or the map calibration? And does the the fuel trim need to be adjusted to 4 percent ethanol? Or can I leave it as is (whatever the default is for the 91 base tune map). My ctr is a 2017 and I live in socal.

cr0ss0ut simple... the opening allows for more of the wastegate sounds to come out

just wondering if the CTR push you back in your seat when accelerating?
