My wife and I did this trip with our kids when they where 5 and 7, with the youngest sitting on my bike and the 7 year old fighting on his own bike. We just took it slow and used more days that you do. 13 years ago now, but I recognize so many places. Your videos really makes me want to do the trip again.
Fact of the matter is, an adventure will always be taken on life terms, not necessarily on our own terms; guess that's what life is all about, but I do struggle quite often with this myself as I won't take mishaps in my stride that easily. Norway, what a fierce view that is! Sleep tight you and Juliana for rested legs will be heavily tested again I'm afraid ! 🇳🇴 🌨❄ 😊👋
I just got back from Norway and we drove that switchback road to Hemsedal but in a car and downhill and that must have been a kick in the legs to climb it! Love tge video as always!
Julliet - A suggestion for the Garmin. Do a factory rest. That will blow away all the route data, but it may restore functionality. Then you could redownload maps when you are around wifi. Here is the instructions off the garmin site: Turn device off. Hold the Down key while powering on the device. Continue holding the down key until the “Factory Reset” prompt appears. Select OK to clear Be Safe!
Just starting out with simple overnight bikepacking experiences ... however took me 2 1/2 hours to get everything packed up and back on the bike the other morning! Geez, this has got to get easier!😂
Great vid Juliet.. Sorry to see the Garmin trouble I use Wahoo bolt v2 it’s excellent.. I use Silca pumps also first class, quick to use, reliable 😊 man that driver really was an idiot crazy.. glad you had a lovely time it looked amazing beautiful scenery 🚴♀️🚴🏻👍 Pete
It's amazing how many people seem to have issues with Garmin. I have a Wahoo Roam which, occasionally, has issues but nothing like the Garmin seems to. 👍👍 for the Roam 😂
I have a Garmin running watch and I'll put a copy of the route on that as well in case my bike computer dies or breaks. I have a watch on anyway, so it's perfect for that. I also use it for heart rate, since it'll "broadcast HR" and it's paired with my bike computer. It's a 3 in one solution. Watch, HR strap, and backup bike computer. Been doing it for years and it's definitely worked out for the best many times. Great video!
it's a typical garmin. I had same issue during recent bikepacking trip. really demotivating. but then I managed to fix it by just disconnecting my phone bluetooth/turn it off 😂
Bummer about the drivers.......but if they drive anything like my good friend Dan (from Denmark) he's got a heavy foot! LOL He is at least respectful however. Another great video, have a great stay at camp! 😄👏
Not too clever from Pickled Foreskin racing up close, lugging a caravan, which do swing about a bit at the best of times, then blasting the horn ! Maybe carry a Molotov cocktail next to the Garmin. May the Norwegian branch of the cycling Gods, watch over you. 🇳🇴 🙏
Im a bit embarrassed that my fellow Norwegian is behaving like that. In Norway you are considered a vehicle while riding one the road, so you have as much right as them to use the road!
@leglennden @los.veteranos I think there were a fair few tourists on that road so not all Norwegian. However unfortunately, the truck drivers who WERE Norwegian drove just as badly
No matter were you ride, according to my formula, one in one hundred drivers do dumb stuff! The exception has to be France, the drivers are amazingly courteous and considerate
@@JulietElliottsChannel I'm sorry you had to experience that. Norwegian drivers, especially males in their 40's to 50's, like this guy, tend to be the worst. This guy is definitely not a tourist. The number plate, UA36863, says he lives in Kaupanger where he runs a small business. I think he should be reported to the police.
Well Norway has the advantage of being fairly sparsely populated but it’s worth noting that you can’t camp literally everywhere in Norway. I got it working eventually when I had a better satellite signal, it seemed it was twitching out when loading. Don’t know why. I’ve since updated it so hopefully that solves the problem
Hey Juliet, great post! I'm liking your new tent which seems very similar to the Soloist in many ways, perhaps not the same quality of materials. After conversing with you many moons ago, I also bought a Soloist, and have to say it was a spot on recommendation by you, I love it! However, always trying 2 lower weight of equipment, and after seeing you use the ultra 1 by Alpkit, I have to admit my curiosity was aroused. I have asked you your opinion of it in a previous post but you didn't get the time to respond. I totally understand you can't respond to every post, you just wouldn't have the time, but thought I would respectfully "nag" you again. What would be really interesting would be a review post of the Soloist(budget), the Ultra (mid-range), and your new Big Agnes (Higher end) tents in a bang for the buck challenge? Sorry to waffle on, but I do greatly value your experience and opinions. Looking forward to the rest of the posts on this adventure.
Sorry I’ve been slack on this, I’m totally gonna do a tent review. Just quickly, I’m still a fan of the soloist but I found the new Ultra rather delicate and it’s slightly shorter (in height) so you can’t sit up at all. New fave is definitely the Big Agnes, it’s much better than either but I’d still recommend the Soloist without hesitation, if you’re on a budget
@@JulietElliottsChannel Thankyou so much for taking the time to respond Juliet, really appreciate it. Thanks also for the information, I can't wait to see your tent review. Love it when you do stuff like that, so down to earth and grounded, kids mooching around, cats sneaking in, stuff going wrong, absolute genuine and honest thoughts..brilliant! And like I said previously, your experience and knowledge is very respected on here. Thanks Juliet!😊
@11:40 As a Norwegian I apologize for all Norwegian drivers that don't respect bikers. On a nice wide road like rv52 over Hemsedalsfjellet there is no reason to cause problems. Only bikers that might bug me are those pro and semi pro ones that don't use the bike paths on busy roads and cause a queue.
No way! My sleeping bag would take up ur whole front role! What were u using?? As for those cars.. I don’t get it .. jealousy is only thing I can think of
Wan$ers lol 😂, nearly chocked on my beans on toast . Always use my phone for navigation with qaudlock. Yes there’s a crash risk , bit it hasn’t failed me yet.
Your pronunciation of «skolebolle» and «kanelbolle» is very good 😊. Norwegian motorists are awful, especially towards cyclists. The Swedes are so much better.
Yes people in cars are assholes to cyclists in Norway. But to be fair, the people in skintight lycra, and super expensive bikes, does act really badly in many cases here. They scream "Share the road", but do the oposite themselves. Love to see your videos from wherever you ride. Always smiling

Totally agree with your comment on the driver with the caravan! Said drivers usually get the middle finger from me when I'm on local roads myself.
Even though you forgot them… I never considered smith glasses and after watching your videos purchased some and love them…. FYI for your sponsor! lol.
Loving your ride... and the soundtrack!

Awesome Juliet, the caravan driver is a total w***er! Shame about the garmin trouble but glad you got going. Maybe see you in the peaks sometime!!
Imagine if they’d ended up at the same campsite! I would not want to be in their shoes! 😅
❤❤❤ good!
So much Dumbassery on those roads! Stay safe and don’t let them steal your light!

you always make me laugh , it was a ghost hotel lol
Morning💚🚴♀️
Evening!
Thanks for your great videos
That hotel has vibes of Psycho.....😳 Also, Garmin etc are good, but a map needs no connection.👍
I’ve had a lot of freezing problems with my Garmin 840 this summer in Germany bike tour. Sooooo much… Never happened before.
Fabulous vid Juliet, pleased you survived the idiot drivers. I guess we are not alone when it comes to bad drivers on the road.
Thank you, glad you liked it ☺️
you should try the kings road between sweden and norway on the trøndelag border. beautiful scenery :) no asswipes on four wheels out there for sure
Will try check it out!

Loving the Norwegian adventure! Thanks! BTW, will you and Juliana try the Rwandan race again?
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you. I’m planning on going back to Rwanda next year ☺️
Tent, sleeping mat, pillow and sleeping bag? Takes so little space. Which ones do you have?
Hey Juliet, great video as always! Where is your jacket from?
The rain jacket is by 7Mesh. The jacket at camp is Patagonia
Phooey, it's a shame you got the Garmin working. I was enjoying your temporary _teen angst_ phase! 🙃
😂
Haha, yes Mal, me too, yet she's still so adorable whilst being 'angsty' ... 😁👍
So, how did you get your garmin working again?
Why can't more places be like Norway, where you can wild camp anywhere that's not "developed?"

I thought Ive never say this but sometimes I miss caping food...
what are Steinfrukter?
Fruits with stones it is a collective term.
If what i am seeing is correct it is all grapes and even things like avocado
@@havtor007 Stein fruechte
@@alqubes yes Steinfrukter in norwegian

Sorry for the wanker... we got them in Norway aswell.
😂 they’re everywhere
3:00 And I though that the rude drivers are only here in America and Canada...
use a map 😀
It’s rather awkward to have to keep stopping and getting it out. Far easier to have something visible in front of you moves with you
You're so pretty 🤗
Aw thanks ☺️
Surprised that not everything is in two languages Norway and English
Why would it be?
Chatting to camera whilst cycling up a 14% incline. 😳
I always try to watch this lady but she always moves the camera like crazy
