Bizen is one of Japan's six oldest kilns with a history going back some 1,000 years to the Heian era (794-1185), when these wares were already in production.
At the end of the Muromachi era (1392-1573), the rustic, undecorated qualities of these wares was particularly popular among tea ceremony aficionados, resulting in the production of many tea bowls and other tea ceremony implements.

This is therapy for me. I binge watched all the videos. Thanks so much for creating and sharing these. The music is fantastic too :)
Once in Kyoto, I was served water in a glass that had the hand-beaten look of tsubame hand-hammered copperware, I've been looking to buy a one ever since. Saw a few in Otaru but they were not as nice. Hopefully you'll have an episode on glassware :)

Traditional craft items have "Edo Kiriko" "Edo Glass", but I have no plans to make a video yet. I'm sorry.

Such a humble beauty in those earthly colours, these items can bear flowers or not, everything goes. You can never learn this, or get yourself a huge kiln.
