    Hey! Thanks again for checking this video series out. This one's a bit meatier than the stats video, so we included timestamps with each of the major topics so it's easier to get through! I hope it helps :)

      I highly appreciate this as I've always felt that competitive Pokemon needs more exposure. Do you plan to compete in any tournaments yourself?

    This is such amazing series of videos Kallie! This reminds of the Pokemon Academy in Pokemon Stadium 2. I learned most I know about Pokemon battles through that.

    Just noticed you failed to note state change that use the word Drastically that’s usually a +3. Tho only a few moves this Like a Dubwool Cotton Guard but I thought I should mention this.

      Onup147 Yeah, I left out these and also Belly Drum. I didn't want that section to be too overwhelming and figured people can piece together the special cases for themselves as they go

      A shame it may look like it on the surface but underneath it’s highly complex. Often skilled trainers sweep casual players even with unbalanced teams. I know I have with my Poltergeist and m skill link cloyster.

    Hi very helpful video btw. Attacking first is a very big advantage in Pokemon battles just wanna ask say I have two Pokemons, Same nature, Same Evs, No priority moves.
    The 1st pokemon has HP31 Atk29 Def31 SpAtk31 SpDef31 Spd31
    The 2nd pokemon has HP31 Atk31 Def29 SpAtk31 SpDef31 Spd31
    Who Attacks first?

      Speed ties are 50/50. They usually happen with 100 base stat pokemon as they have the most common high speed in competitive.

    So like 2 days ago I wanted to play competitive Pokémon so what’s a good stall team

    • @Dr.J42
      @Dr.J42 3 роки тому

      In VGC, stall is hard to pull off.

    • @raphaels33
      @raphaels33 3 роки тому

      thanks to Gmax moves stall doesnt exist anymore, the only way you cant stall is protecting and playing the guessing game with 1/2 or 1/4 damage reductions types, and this Is hard to do only practicing you can improve.

    • @NotGord
      @NotGord 2 роки тому

      The reason I love VGC is because you don't see stall. You can have bulky teams but no stall. In singles you see things like Umbreon protect-toxic-wish and foul play. And other nuisances like Toxapex with toxic and baneful bunker.

    What actually is special defence and attack I’ve never understood it

    • @Dr.J42
      @Dr.J42 3 роки тому +4

      Some moves are considered special and some are physical(also there are status moves but they are irrelevant in this context). For example, an Alakazam a super-strong special attacker can use the move Psychic(a special move) to great effect because of the high Special attack but the move Zen headbutt(a physical) is weaker because of its less than stellar attack. The same is true for Def and Sp.def, like in any RPG a defense stat affects how you take damage, and generally the higher it is, the less you take damage. The same is true for Pokemon, higher Sp.Def allows for a Mon to take Special attacks just like Defense would for Physical attacks. The game will tell you if a move is Physical or Special so you don't have to guess. Hope this Helps.

    If i boost my pokemon stat it will last for the rest of the battle?

    • @Dr.J42
      @Dr.J42 3 роки тому

      Depends, If you switch out the boost is gone, and or your opponent lowers that same stat back to neutral. Also some abilities and moves will remove stat changes(Such as Curious Medicine, Haze, Clear smog)

    Did you know? I've seen that at one point in my life, while I was playing a pokemon game (forgot which one I was playing) I would use a move that would say I DRASTICALLY decreased or increased a certain stat. I think that move was cotton guard...so in this part of the video (1:56) you forgot to add drastically, which also means that you've increased or decreased a certain stat by three stages.
