Thanks for the vid and the dedication. I appreciate it. I had a level 30 vet since the early days of darktide and these new builds reinvigorate my love for the class.
No problem! I'm just really glad to see people being able to enjoy the Veteran instead of feeling like it's underpowered. It takes some adjustment but once you get it right, it's a great class!
I've been messing around with this and would change some things, but this is a great basis for the plasma gun veteran. For reference I almost exclusively play on damnation maelstrom. You need smoke grenades over krak grenades. You can already one shot everything with the plasma gun so its not the elites that are the issue. Its the horde. Smokes disorientate the horde enough to make it easier for you. Also Throw down the smokes to prevent range damage, then you can shoot through the smoke without getting shot. As a bonus this will reduce the range hits your allies take, so thow it at the feet of the zealots. I've had a lot more success with smokes than Kraks.
Fair enough. If it works for you, feel free to rock it. In general I have not found smoke useful as random team-mates do not take enough advantage of it. But it's certainly an option if that's what you want
Love the idea of throwing out smokes and turning on the thermal vis (as you highlight elites) and start blasting key targets with 100 cleave through the cover
another tip for the animation cancel: look at the ammo counter, when it goes to 0, that's your first cancel, when it's fully reloaded you can cancel again, could be easier to pull off
just to comment, blaze away is actuly VERY, VERY good on the plasma gun, why? because it means you dont have to use the charge shot, and thus wont ever blow yourself up. With blaze away you do have to click really fast to keep the stacks, but if you do 3 shots does the same if not more damage than the charge shot, for the same ammo cost. Also becuase your shooting more times, more chances for crits.
Fair call! If you like Blaze Away go for it, honestly the blessings for this are mostly just extra. The perks and the plasma gun itself are just so powerful with the build that any blessings just give you extra 'oopmh' when killing!
I got the inverse of your blessings. T3 Gets Hot! and T4 Shattering Impact. XD Thank you for the guide though. I'm using a plasma gun in a supporting build and after just hipfiring with it for a while, I stopped and asked myself, "What if I actually built for maximized damage?" This guide will help point me in the right direction.
Haha this is superseded by voice of Command since you really don't need executioners stance, but if you still want to run it, go ahead. Just know that with randoms, not having your voice of Command is...very very unhappy. Also rending strikes are now unnecessary so you can chuck some of those points to other things for moar value
hey, so, question: how does the plasma gun stack up against the Bolter? from the outside they look to be similar, incredibly powerful guns that are hampered by low magazine sizes, atrocious ammo economy and slow reloads. I might be keen to countersnipe snipers and the like to keep my Orgyn-buddies and Zealot on their feet, and given I'm basically the dedicated anti-large/elite guy, well that means I have a lot of things I need to shoot. note: I'm generally not doing ultra-endgame tier content as I'm very much a casull scrub. sidenote: THANK YOU for cluing me in to how amazing the Chainsword is. I was powersword all the way and gave it a burl after seeing that you had one in the build and was enlightened.
If you're casual, ignore bolter and plasma gun. Go straight to my voice of Command veteran build 😁👍. It works way better in casual play and is great for chilling with the team and feeling like a ranged warrior God. For maximum roleplay effect you need to memorize all the Veteran call out codes too 😁👍. But just to answer your question. The boltgun is so bad that no one uses it. The plasmagun is the opposite. It's so strong that it's the only viable heavy weapon for high end content.
Can I ask why you would want to go with Counter-Fire with the plasma gun? I rarely find myself focusing shooters when I use plasma due to poor ammo economy, especially combined with ammo being stretched very thing on HISTG. I find scenarios when I am compelled to take out shooters with plasma rare enough that augmenting Volley Fire with Counter-Fire would not only be a waste of a point but generally distracting. I know you were pretty clear that it's one that you'd be very fine taking something else instead but it's not something I would ever really consider taking at all.
I just use it to extend the time on my stance haha. I avoid shooting them too, but sometimes I really need the lengthened duration. With the upcoming cooldown change to Executioner Stance however, this will not be necessary after Patch #14. I try to avoid shooting the normal rangers as well but for the time being it's genuinely just to extend the stance if I need to vent a bit, since having it on cooldown is annoying when I really need it
@@RealAsianRobot The duration refresh is an interesting perk I hadn't thought about. Also-- what's your opinion on Ogryns no longer being highlighted with VF? Patch 14 unfortunately made no mention of that being a change they planned on implementing but I found it to be very helpful on Damnation/HISTG missions where there would be large amounts of Ogryn enemies. I am quite pleased to see Stalkers being added to the shooter pool however. Should make taking out shooters with lasguns n such a lot easier.
Ogryns are big enough that it shouldn't matter, but yeah, it sucks they don't refresh the duration. It's why I bring Krak Grenades for those nerds instead haha@@rb-551
I will be likely changing some things about my plasma build now... but question - I thought rending did not affect plasma? Did that change? Or am I just going crazy?
It affects everything, or at least it should. My advice is, drop the rending and see if the build performs to expectations. If it does then you have a free point to put elsewhere. That said, I'm nearly 100% sure rending applies to everything (at least according to Fatshark)
Hey nice vid, it really helps me with my plasma gun build! Do you think this build could work too if Executioner's Stance is switched with Infiltrate? I'm not sure if it is still possible to hit the breakpoints for oneshotting maulers and crushers with a charged shot on damnation level without the added damage from Executioner's Stance. At least other elites and specials still die from a single charged shot regardless. I just really like the safety and utility of Infiltrate, and I'd love to keep using it if possible.
revolver - chainsword -krak - rend - shout build. That is what im currently building towards, and it feels super solid, but would love to see how you would do it
You'd need to give more thorough detail for me to test. I suggest screenshots of the tree and your gear which you can send to me on Twitter or Instagram via DM 😁👍. But do make sure that you can clear Auric Damnation with randoms with your chosen build. If you are clearing it regularly without friends, I'd definitely be down to put your build to the test for general public.
@@RealAsianRobot that's fair, still leveling my veteran, just simply what I have found I like to use, as all other guns just feel bad to use in my hands. (Could be trash rolls) And just unsure of the build path thats most optimal with revolver - shout - krak(for big guys) And most revolver and rend videos are massively outdated with the new talent trees xD Love your in depth videos tho!
Why did you chose krak grenade with a plasma gun? Plasma both lore and game-wise is excellent at dealing with heavy armor, you can shoot not only through walls but also through shields, completely ignoring all types of defenses enemies are trying to put up. On the other hand plasma gun is pretty bad at dealing with hordes so i like to take frag nade to supplement my melee weapon. Am i missing something here or did you take krak just as a personal preference?
At Auric Damnation level hordes are not the issue. The issue is monstrosities and packs of crushers and Bulwarks. You want to eliminate those without wasting ammo as a high intensity shock troopers Gauntlet is a huuuuge ammo drain. Ogryns don't reset your Executioners stance so get them out of the way fast with Krak Grenades. Hordes are irrelevant, leave that to your front line or just swing your chainsword in their general direction, wasting grenades for a slow bleed effect is literally useless and it doesn't even kill them (proven in the my veteran skill tree vid where I showed every skill and ability). Frag grenades are basically a gigantic newbie trap because the vets using them miss out on ammo saving and extremely potent anti-armor that also makes monstrosity fights much easier lol. All my builds are optimized for Auric Damnation, and you can review the livestreams where they are heavily (and I mean seriously heavily) tested.
@@RealAsianRobot Oh, so the ammo save, got it. Its just a bit weird to see you take nade designed to deal with armor together with a gun, designed to deal with armor. At least without the explanation XD
@felixsimon2 haha no worries. A lot of what I do is after thorough testing live on stream. Which is why I am confident in what gives me the best possible path. See the difference is that I play with randoms and NOT with friends helping my content. I do have friends of course, but a build must work in all circumstances. This is why a Robot build will literally never let you down (unless your team goes out of their way to magically fail hard).
As explained in other comments. It saves ammo to delete groups of crushers and Bulwarks. The other grenades don't bring me any value and ammo efficiency is crucial in Auric Damnation runs. Same for monstrosities, it is good to use the Krak Grenades instead of spamming my plasma gun. In those situations where you get really bad randoms or just ammo inefficient team mates. I can use my Krak Grenades to wipe heavy targets, use my plasma on lighter targets and then survive.
ah i see - im just wondering how feasabile it is in pugs because my runs tend to get people who are all monster/rare killers or horde groups rarley they go hybrid @@RealAsianRobot
@Dekison always assume the worst with randoms. They will bring all sorts of mismatched gear at times. That's why I always do my testing exclusively with randoms. If you check my livestreams where I test/showcase this build as well as the combat demonstration. Its almost always ALL RANDOMS. That's why my builds are optimized for all situations. @@RealAsianRobot Helbore is far superior in clearing specials, ogryns and monsters than plasma gun. I would even say that plasma gun is trash. Its a flavour weapon. Also with helbore u can go through a mission without picking a single ammo crate. Patch 14 plasma gun is getting huge buff tho.
