Beyoncé attempted to replicate this in her “Run the World (Girls) video. It’s the amazing to watch and she doesn’t even come close to the original Zaouli dance.

Beyoncé choreographers we’re flown to her from SA. The foot walk dances in SA is big! Most if not all their dances have immense foot work that comes naturally to the natives!

Beyoncé’s dance was from Mozambique in southern Africa. This is a western African dance that also exists in my ethnic group (bété) with the masks that is displayed during ceremonies such as weddings, funerals etc.

    • @mimim.k.2491

Because the man’s are giving a tribute to the beauty of the daughter of djela who was once the gouro’s tribes chief and I believe she was looked at as a goddess. So the males who dances in the female form behind the mask is to give tribute to her basically the mask represent her.

This dance, without a doubt, is the most difficult of all dances because one has to establish a one-of-a-kind relationship to space, a relationship that is prompted through genetics.

02:30:, so I'm to believe that it's not the many years of practice and training, but magic that enables the dancers to perform those dances. Incredibly disrespectful of the dedication it takes to master such an art. THe seven years mentioned in the video certainly are just the culmination, tell me that the dancers have not been working on their technique for years before that.

The mask is covering dancer’s face for a reason. Maybe hiding the state of trance.

I read where it takes seven years to perfect this dance. It takes six days to make the mask and there's something on the inside tbe mask that they hold in their mouth.

Unfortunately, most of those masked dancing are spiritual, related with dark spiritual rites, indeed its beautiful to the eyes, but very ugly to ones soul and spirit, it can lead to both death. Physical and spiritual death.. books from all religions, even spiritualist ones caution us humans not to mess with spiritual world.. in some cases those dancers are doing it as art, but the meaning and connections are the same. That's real, and moderns religions tend to discredit the spiritual world, which is very, very real, and not all are good spirits,it's no such thing as Gasper the friendly ghost,. That's plain reality
