With the smallest physical stature on the field, as a player he had the largest stature in character, determination and courage. This man has been an inspiration across a whole era of the game's history. He was key to the domination his Leeds team achieved, and was never afraid of tackling the biggest man on the field; with the ball in his hands, he was unstoppable with pace and ability to evade any opponent. As a Saints fan, he and his Leeds team have caused me endless heartache in many a final, but as a rugby league fan, his contribution to the game, the entertainment and inspiration it provides to enormous numbers of people, it's hard to comprehend how one individual can contribute so much. As a father myself, I cry for him, and the inevitable effect on his family, but this is a man that doesn't need pity. He'll deal with MND with the courage and dignity that led a guy of 5 foot 4 inches, to play the world's most brutal sport. Congratulations to everyone involved in the tribute game - rugby league at it's best: Jamie Jones-Buchanan shared his testimonial for Rob's benefit, the fans packed a full stadium, players who had retired many years ago came back to play in support of him, and Bradford players who paid their way through the turnstiles for the sheer privilege of providing the game's opposition on a momentous occasion. All of them, remarkable and heartwarming acts of fellowship, that lift the spirit, and hopefully Rob's in particular. The camaradarie of our sport is humbling but not infrequent; we have a long history of similar acts of kindness, often coming from the hardest of men. Good luck Rob - this wonderful community is with you all the way.
5foot 4, but one of the biggest guys in the game. At times like this it's great to be reminded that the Rugby League community is bigger than simple club allegiances. Whether we are Rhinos (I am) or supporters of other clubs, professional or amateur, we know our game would be poorer without people like Rob Burrow, and that he and any others who are struck by such tragic illness will be supported by the unique love and passion that only Rugby League can bring.
Well said, pal. My family is from St. Helens. Rob's story has united, and he has united all RL fans and highlighted an illness many of us know little about. It's the beauty of this great sport.
From all at Sthelens RFC. Keep fighting this horrible disease Rob the whole of rugby league is behind you buddy. JJB you are a legend and Leeds RFC well done. From all at Saints to a British Lion keep that Lionheart fighting. Love Craig.x
What a man, what a player. The MND is only a small fraction of who he is, as a RL fan he brought so many special memories to us. We are forever grateful to him. From a Wigan fan. Cry everytime I hear him speak now. ❤️
From a London Irish supporter; the world of Rugby League & Union are praying for you & your family Rob. Your courage is an inspiration to one & all - God bless you!
Just watched the interview. What a humble, genuine bloke. Absolute giant of rugby league. Great to hear his optimistic approach to this horrible disease. I was in total awe of him,the rugby league is behind you 100% mate.
I was diagnosed last Monday and later stages so getting a feeding peg operation tomorrow and hopefully leave hospital next week. So sorry about your diagnoses.
Might not have been the biggest player but nobody had a bigger heart than this man. I will never forger that try in the 2011 grand final and I'm a saints fan true inspiration to everyone.
I have been in Robs company on a few occasions and it is so sad to see him battling this disease..Battle it he will, the guy has a massive heart. Good luck Rob, people around the world are with you. God Bless.
Still remember being a kid, stood on a box to see over the side at knowsley road, and seeing some little fella darting in and around all the big lads. Nothing but respect for Rob Burrow. I wish him and his family all the best.
I no nothing about Rugby, stumbled on one of his videos on FB, and I can't stop watching these videos. What a wonderful, wonderful human being and a sports man. Sending him and his family the best of luck xxxx
My dad is a big rugby league fan n I've been to a few games with him. I dont know much about rugby but I do know that this lad is much loved by everyone.
Top, top bloke. Why cant horrible people go through this instead of the good guys. Forever a champion Rob. Score a try in the sky pal. Youll be forever missed ❤
Watched rob burrow since I started watching rugby league he defied the odds to play at the highest level when people said he was to small let's hope he can defie the odds again n live on for many years to see his children grow up,the courage of a rhino unbelievable character to face this terrible news
Remember a pre season game at Keighley when Rob Burrow was playing for a Leeds Rhinos 13. Exciting to watch and an obvious talent but his pace of the mark was awsome. He wasn't a first team regular at the time and Gary hetherington was walking around the ground so, cheekily I said could Keighley sign him, he smiled and said very unlikely he 's got a great future, which of course he had in the game, sad that this has struck him but he's tenacious and will battle on. Good on him, a privelige to see him in action, a great player.
Rob Burrow will never be forgotten. A great player loved by all. There's an interview on the Leeds website from mid-September 2019 where you'd never guess Rob had the disease. Truly frightening how quickly it has taken hold a few months later.
Keep positive rob. Everyone is behind you! Your bringing your warrior attitude from the pitch to real life, and we all know your going to fight this with your all. Best wishes. M.O.T 🦏
Sadly there is unlikely to be a cure in the forseeable future. There is currently no research that even shows promise as a cure, or even to extend and prolong life. A good friend of mine lasted 3 years from diagnosis. It's a terrible disease.
As wigan fan I wish all best want a player I remember Fernando ricksen also rangers fan that was really really heartbreaking thought to is family and friends to keep strong x
I really don't get why anyone could down thumb this video... some proper thicko heartless people in this world, really is.. is it a sport thing? Shame on you. Whatever goes through your thick peanut brain when you can dislike that I'd never know. I don't do rugby but this interview just show's there are strong people about us prepared to try and take this on. They are alone with this condition. If you don't know about this condition then look it up. If you then want to dislike the vid I'd be lost for words for you... a Rat. Completely. I don't know you Rob and don't know your sport at all but upmost respect... by the sounds of it you were a fighter on the field... and you're a fighter off it. YNWA
Still doesn't seem real, I know our sport may not be the most popular in the country or world and may all disagree with each other through club rivalries etc but when it comes to supporting one of our own whether a player , supporter or what ever. RIP, Rob. You fought the bravest fight possible. Your efforts will save countless lives in the future.
I'd never heard of him until today. What an incredible man

Just want to give him a hug
Same here Ashley. Always loved Rob Burrow and I've had the pleasure of seeing him play against my team Hull KR many times.
@@foreverred105 I was at the KC seeing him face up to Lauaki and he wasn't scared of a fight then
@@ashbolight I was just thinking of that recently. I loved it. Lauaki was a bully but Burrow didn't back down no matter what his size.
