  • This film explores mental health issues and their impact on workplaces and people at work. It is part in a series of five short films under the theme 'see me, I'm...' that 'see me' has produced to raise awareness of mental health in relation to a particular area and the stigma still too often associated with mental health problems.

Some people are more understanding of mental illness than others, and I feel that there are certain times when you shouldn't bring it up. It really depends on the employer and how you think they would react to it. I have social anxiety and I just started working as a delivery driver... all of the guys I work with are young and they don't understand my behaviour. But I don't want some of them to know I'm on medication etc otherwise they'll assume I am completely insane.

Yeah I used to suffer from social anxiety and I still have problems with Bipolar disorder. Since one in four people are going to suffer from mental health problems during their lifetimes, I think the workplace really needs to get familiar with mental health and its treatments. I know just how hard it is not to care about what other people think about you, but if people think your insane just because your taking fluoxetine or whatever, they are not worth the time of day.

Thanks for your comments Flamestar1989 and EbsNhexz. We are currently developing a new campaign aimed at workplaces and any thoughts, insights and experiences we hear will help us make it better.

Are these state or NGO sponsored public service announcements devised to make already drab, dreary and strenuous conditions (probably root cause of mental health problems to begin with) even more so?
Knocking ppl out of the workforce to reduce corporate treasuries and growth of multinationals that can overshadow governmental powers. While justifying International immigration, where federal governments can get harder working and sometimes more qualified workers from less developed countries, at a fraction of the cost.
If more locals were willing to live on the dole and on shoe string budgets, this may prove to be more economical at the end of the day. Getting ambitious if not desperate immigrants to pull most of a nations weight. At least for their domestic markets, while governments can collect corporate taxes from overseas operating businesses,
if you induced them to declare profits in your country that is (made it worth their while, or were extra nice in other ways), versus anywhere else in the world they have offices, as they are entitled to do.
1 in 5 people are going to suffer from a mental health issues in their life time, and all that is being done is making video programs about it? Are you sure this isn't part of the problem
