Yep. Total BS. That lawyer literally also said about 5 mins earlier that her client didn’t come in because she didn’t know and wasn’t told the court date. The State then said she was notified. Defence then changed it to ‘she was sick today. Couldn’t attend court.’ Im surprised Judge Simpson didn’t pull her off for lying in court.
Good to know if im ever in his court room ‘pretty please with sugar on top’ does not constitute a valid legal appeal lol 😂

Where I live, strangulation almost guarantees jail time, or so I have been told.
Imagine being the lawyer knowing he's guilty and having to defend them because it's your job. I couldn't do it. Public defenders are like teachers. They have to deal with an incredible amount of bullshit, and nobody wants to pay them
Someone who uses strangulation in a DV situation is more likely to kill than someone that doesn't. (I can't remember where I read this but it was based on crime stats).

Some judges are witty and entertaining, some are funny, others are tough or fair or just plain a**holes. With the exception of the last one, Judge Simpson is a combination of those things, plus being intelligent, compassionate and wise and he has my respect and admiration.
Agree. He takes everything into consideration and you can see his mind working. He tries his best to look at all factors and weigh them up. Very fair, but he is compassionate when a criminal is really behaving right and trying to improve. Love the way he runs his courtroom.

Wait. He tested positive for cocaine before??? That changes EVERYTHING! He made it sound like it was something new.
I have little doubt he knew the test was going to come back dirty and thought he could bring in his own, that could be manipulated. That is why he didn't file a formal dispute, that would have sent the UA sample to the lab. I have had plenty of UA's and they had you a form that states your rights, including disputing results.
That the defence expects the court to accept a random test that the defendant bought in with him, from who know where and from who knows who is just ludicrous 😂

A test brought by defendant should never be brought up in court. He should only be testing at a testing facility that uses certified testing kits. Why does it matter if who at the facility is testing him, just looking for an easy way out. Then all of a sudden, he does use and wants to go to a treatment center.
I would have thought less contact with urine would decrease the chance of a positive test not increase it........

State confirmed she had been advised (and why would the defence attorney not check and confirm that with her client was what I was thinking at that point.) Then when asking for a 2 week adjournment, she then stated her client didn’t come to court because she was sick.

Dude is a lot less talkative this hearing than last. And there's no reason to believe the tests he brought with him were capable of finding cocaine in his urine. (Or were used properly, or weren't tampered with or expired as to be ineffective...) Still going on with the tests he brought and that there is something wrong with the other counties testing. Don't test at home to see what you will get, with cheap knockoff purchased-online at a discount tests... Never mind bring them with you to official testing.
Then finally admits to using cocaine. Nobody was buying that BS last week in the other hearing.
The cocaine dude messed up from the jump when he lied to the judge and blamed his test results on the police.The Judge is not happy with him. You lied to him now you pay the price.

Store bought tests notoriously wrong. Can take my blood sugar at same time getting same test in hospital. I can be lower on one machine and higher on another (finger prick). An actual blood draw for a glucose level will be more consistent with hospital machine.
